Dialogue, a journal for philosophy and social theory, appeared in 1977, and ceased coming out in 1992. In the eclipse of culture our only philosophical journal became mute, the journal which spread the idea of understanding, opened new horisonts of cognition, confronted opposite philosphical views and standspoints, started discussions and polemics about the problems of a general philosophical and social interests, cherished a critical way of thinking, an open and tolerant dialogue. Naturally, the journal was an expression of it's own time and, as much, it had both it's ups and downs. Besides promoting new ideas, some prejudices of the time in which it was issued sometimes intruded into it. But, inspite of that, the role and importance of Dialogue in the development of philosophical and social thought, the creation of the spiritual climate and democratization of the social relations were multiple and unavoidable.
