Morfološka analiza anglicizama u ekonomskom registru srpskog jezika

Author(s): Milica Bogdanović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 9/2014

The subject of this paper is morphological adaptation of anglicisms, which have flooded Serbian economic terminology for the last two decades. Some loanwords have adapted in compliance with the rules of the Serbian language. However, some have brought in certain innovations. The aim of this paper is to analyse the way certain parts of speech are formed in the Serbian language, as well as to point to new practices, which do not comply with the prescribed norm. The analysis is based on Filipovic’s theory of languages in contact, and the corpus presents textbooks in marketing and finance, scientific and professional publications and dictionaries.

Author(s): Milica Šević / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 9/2014

In the paper, the author deals with nominal sentences in Russian and their structure observed within the corpus of proverbs. The main corpus material are examples from Serbo-Croatian – Russian Paremiological Dictionary by J.Z., and this material is extended by the examples from the collection of Proverbs of Russian People by V.I. and the collection of Serbian Folk Proverbs by V. S. Karadzic. Могућности превођења лакуна (на материјалу руског и српског језика)

Могућности превођења лакуна (на материјалу руског и српског језика)

Author(s): Violeta P. Džonić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 8/2013

Taking as a starting point the fact that a lacuna is a specific linguistic phenomenon that many researchers have been interested in, mainly for its basic lexical aspect as well as its phraseological-paremiological, stylistic and lexicographic aspects, we would especially like to emphasize the problems in translation that it causes as such when related or non-related languages are in contact. As a result, there is the need for thorough analysis of translation procedures for translating a lacuna, the overview of which we have tried to compose relying on already existing methods in translation, through the prism of Russian and Serbian linguistic literature.

О значењу неких глагола говорења у њемачком и српском језику

Author(s): Kristina Mirnić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 6/2012

Given the fact that every language is subject to various historical trends, spiritual directions, and new social structures, one can assume it is the lexic of any given language that is influenced the most in this respect, by which contacts with other peoples and cultures play a major role. As a direct result of these processes, we witness both the emergence of new lexic and the disappearance of old forms, as well as changes in existing word sets. For that purpose, this paper analyses shifts in meaning and stylistic features of some verbs in the German and Serbian languages.

Властите именице као лакуне на плану руског језика и проблем њиховог превођења на српски језик

Author(s): Violeta P. Džonić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 5/2012

Taking as a starting point the fact that the lacuna has occupied the attention of researchers not only from the basic lexical aspect, but also from that of word-formation, morpho-syntactic, phraseologico-paroemiologic and stylistic, as well as in terms of lexicographic and translational problems created in the contact of both related and non-related languages, the author claims that the issue of proper names manifested as a lacuna also demands a thorough linguistic analysis, which is at the core of this paper dealing with the lacuna within the range of Serbian and Russian language respectively. The cultural-historical background and socio-traditional specificity of the lacuna are viewed through the prism of proper nouns in contemporary Russian language (bearing in mind the problems of transposing them into contemporary Serbian language). The analysis is done on proper nouns and toponyms only, with other noun groups being discussed in general.

Author(s): Abdurrahim Maxhuni / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 49/2019

In the computer terminology the ways of building of its units, and the tools of term formation have an important place paths to building of computer. Technology are the ones that we find in the other fields of knowledge, such as the semantic, morphologic, syntactic, translation and borrowing. In contrast to other fields of knowledge whose richness came gradually, the richness of the computer terminology lexis belong more to the revolutionary aspect rather than the evolutionary aspect, because the huge development of the computer world was fast and it took place in the lass decades. So their swift entering country took by surprise the Albanian languages well as the linguists, terminologists, journalists etc. In these circumstance a lot of foreign words, especially from English entered the Albanian language, the lack of a previous experience and the impossibility for such terms to be developed and worked on gradually and to find themselves in a stable system created many problems that are related to this field.

LEKSIKU DIALEKTOR NË ROMANET   E REXHEP QOSJES

Author(s): Shpresa Ismajli / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 49/2019

The literary work of Rexhep Qosja stands out for lexical richness. An important source of lexical enrichment of his novels is the popular language, from which he received words, expressions, and phrases of daily use, as well as dialect words. The layer of words from dialectical discourse settle down a visible place in all his novels, and comes as a lexical and stylistic enriching element. This dialectical lexical gamma includes words from various conceptual areas related to Albanian life in general, words and expressions that reflect the material and spiritual world. The dialectic lexicon in his work is used to characterize the language of the personage or the environment, as well as the language of the autor. Qosja uses various dialectical words of different lexicon-grammatical categories, the richest category are the nouns. In general, the dialectic material in Qosja's novels is from the northeastern Albanian dialects, especially from the highlands and surrounding areas, and from the rural and urban areas of Kosovo (especially Pristina). Dialect elements are used with expressive-stylistic functions and with marking functions. Through the use of this layer of lexicon, have been achieved new meaning, new colorings, special meaningful nuances ect. The author, with particular creative mastery, has synthesized certain dialectical features into the national general.

ONOMATOPETË DHE PASTHIRRMAT NË “KËSHTJELLËN” E KADARESË

Author(s): Adelinë Selmani / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 49/2019

This paper treats interjections and onomatopoeias in the morphological and semantic aspect in Ismail Kadare’s “The Siege”. In the morphological aspect, the features of interjections are described according to the formation’s point of view, where we call notice two groups. According to the semantic aspect or the interjections’ classifications, based on the meaning, we notice three big groups of interjections: exciting, stimulatory, and interjectionst hat express greetings, where the two first ones are divided in subgroups. Besides interjections, the onomatopoeias are treated as well, where their uniform use is noted, as well as their passing onto different parts of the lecture, cases where they’re used as sentence limbs, thus adapting the lexical and grammar features, mainly of the noun, and to carry the function of the verb, of the propositional phrase, the object, or of the subject etc. In the paper, there are evident cases of the usage of these parts of the lecture, structural features are introduced, and also, based on the statistical records, the abundance of their usage is defined. By treating this case, the problem of defining the meaning of an interjection or of an onomatopoeia appears, since it is through the context that they are defined. Therefore, by observing the cases of the usage and the nuances of their meanings, not only are the cases used by Kadare investigated, but also the definition of each word-forming model’s productivity scale is defined, and the tendencies to use them in today’s Albanian language are investigated.

Terminologia medyczna w Nowym dykcjonarzu Michała Abrahama Troca na tle źródeł z XVI i XVII wieku

Author(s): Beata Kuryłowicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 05/2020

In this paper, 74 medical terms excerpted from Nowy dykcjonarz (New dictionary) by Michał Abraham Trotz were subject to semantic and formal analyses. The relevant material was presented in the context of the medical lexis being in operation in the 16th and 17th centuries and confronted with the medical vocabulary present in the study by W. Bystrzonowski titled Informacya matematyczna (Mathematical information) of 1749. The analysis of the medical terminology collected by Trotz is aimed to expand our knowledge of the medical vocabulary present in the Polish language of the first half of the 18th century since, as specialists note, there are few studies discussing the medical lexis of that period, and therefore our cognition of the scientific sphere of the human activity in this respect is limited. The presented analyses show that the medical terminology collected in Nowy dykcjonarz is mainly old lexis, which is well-established in the Polish language, the origin of which is Polish (lexical borrowings include 13 units), and which came into existence as a result of word formation, syntactic, and semantic derivation. The presence of numerous synonymous names, which prove, among others, that the Polish medical terminology has still been in the phase of formation, has also been noticed.

Od znaczenia do konceptu: pragmatyczno-kulturowe aspekty specyfikacji semantycznej

Author(s): Aleksander Kiklewicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 07/2020

The author discusses theoretical issues of functional semantics, especially such directions of the contemporary anthropological linguistics as ethnosemantics and cognitive semantics. The diversification of the content of a lexical meaning under the influence of external, mainly pragmatic and cultural, factors is the primary object of interest here. Therefore, the author considers the degree of semantic specification of lexical units at various levels of interpersonal communication: both general and subcultural. As assumed by the contemporary cultural linguistics, a concept is considered to be a category of representation of knowledge encoded in language signs. The author gives arguments in favour of the view that the opposition of the (lexical, general) meaning and concept is gradual and concerns the scope of semantic information encoded in the sign in accordance with adaptive requirements.

Leksyka muzyczna w rosyjsko-polskiej leksykografii. Stan obecny versus potrzeby użytkowników

Author(s): Ewelina Parafińska-Korybska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 54/2019

In order to meet the expectations of receivers, who come across vocabulary from various areas in their everyday life, general bilingual dictionaries include lexis from many different fields. This article analyses one such group in Russian-Polish lexicography: musical lexis. The analysis offered here considers translation pairs extracted from two most comprehensive Russian-Polish dictionaries. The study categorises musical lexis into semantic classes and verifies the accuracy, semantic relevance and currency of provided equivalents. The aim was to establish whether general bilingual lexicography meets the needs of users looking for equivalents in this lexical area. Basing on selected material, the article also compares the structure of entries in each dictionary and considers cultural background of musical lexis in the context of Russian culture. To illustrate the issues in focus, the study comments on a number of examples and proposes some solutions to problematic cases.

Угорські запозичення в західноукраїнських топонімічних переказах

Author(s): Lesia Mushketyk / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 1/2019

The oral folk prose of Transcarpathia is a valuable source of history and culture of the region. Supplementing the written sources, it has maintained popular attitudes towards events, giving assessments and interpretations that are often different from the official one. In the Ukrainian oral tradition, we find many words borrowed from other languages, in particular Hungarian, which reflects the long period of cohabitation as well as shared historical events and contacts. They also occur in local toponymic legends, which in their own way explain the origin of the local names and are closely linked with the life and culture of the region, contain a lot of ethnographic, historical, mythological, and other information. They are represented mainly by lexical borrowings, Hungarian proper names and realities, which were transformed, absorbed and modified in another system, and, among other things, has served the originality of the Transcarpathian folklore. The process of borrowing the Hungarianisms is marked by heterochronology and a significant degree of assimilation in the receiving environment. It is known about the long-lasting contacts of the Hungarians with Rus at the time of birth of the homeland – the Honfoglalás, as evidenced by the current geographical names associated with the heroes of the events of that time – the leaders of uprisings Attila, Almash, Prince Latorets (the legends Almashivka, About the Laborets and the White Horse Mukachevo Castle). In the names of toponymic legends and writings there are mentions of the famous Hungarian leaders, the leaders of the uprisings – King Matthias Corvinus, Prince Ferenc Rákóczi II, Lajos Kossuth (the legends Matyashivka, Bovtsar, Koshutova riberiya). Many names of villages, castles and rivers originate from Hungarian lexemes and are their derivatives, explaining the name itself (narratives Sevlyuskyy castle, Gotar, village Gedfork). The times of the Tatar invasion were reflected in the legends The Great Ravine Bovdogovanya and The village Goronda. Sometimes, the nomination is made up of two words – Ukrainian and Hungarian (Mount Goverla, Canyon Grobtedie). In legends, one can find mythological and legendary elements. The process of borrowing Hungarianisms into Ukrainian is marked by heterochronology, meanwhile borrowings remain unchanged only partially, and in general, they are assimilated in accordance with the phonetic and morphological rules of the Ukrainian language. Consequently, this is a creative process, caused by a number of different factors –social, ethnocultural, aesthetic, etc. In the course of time, events and characters in oral narratives are erased from human memory, so they can be mixed, modified and updated, adapting to new realities.
