How to do acts with thoughts. Some implications of making philosophy available to children

Author(s): Anda Fournel / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

For a child to say "I see, I understand now!" is an awareness event, a light that exposes him to both a new challenge and to the unknown. If these sorts of moments are obviously an important personal event, along with the feeling of being an agent of his life, we could say a lot about their value at school, in the society or on the world stage. In this paper, my aim is limited to exploring how children and teenagers, involved in philosophical dialogues at school, enter into a reflective and dialogical process, become awareness of what is happening to them and draw out rules of action. Using a theoretical model inspired by Peirce's conception of active thinking, this study is based on both a qualitative analysis of discursive activity performed in communities of philosophical inquiry, and interviews with students who have been practicing philosophy for children for two or three years, in a French middle-school. Some practical implications in conjunction with educational projections could thus be outlined.

The article offers an analysis of the theoretical assumptions underlying the definition of the content and aspects of the quality of the educational еnvironment, as well as an overview of empirical research in contemporary practice, which are reference for policies for the improvement of the quality of ECEC. Evaluation of the quality of the educational environment pursues different goals in different countries, but it is an important step in identifying areas of concerns and their overcoming. Special attention is paid to the various dimensions of quality - structural and procedural, as well as to the necessity to study the complex inter-relationships between them, which determine their effect on children's performance. Defining the scope and different dimensions of quality is necessary for the choice of assessment methods and their mapping to the set of criteria.

Educational Environment as a Form for Development of Math Teachers Methodological Competence

Author(s): Olha Matiash,Liubov Mykhailenko,Vasyl Shvets,Oleksandr Shkolnyi / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2021

The problem of forming the professional competencies of a math teacher in the process of his (her) training at the pedagogical university and in the system of continuing education is extremely relevant not only in Ukraine but also abroad. This is especially true for the methodological competence of teachers, which largely determines the quality of the educational process in general and student achievements in particular. To solve this problem, we propose to create an educational environment, which, in addition to math teachers, includes specialists in mathematics teaching methods from pedagogical universities, instructors of teacher’s in-service training courses, master’s students in pedagogical specialties, who, in particular, are trained in dual form of education. As the results of the experiment show, such educational environment allows to realize professional training of mathematics teachers more effectively and qualitatively compared to traditional methods.

Дискусионни моменти, свързани с обучението по статистика като дял от математиката в училищното образование

Author(s): Margarita Lambova,Vanya Stoyanova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2021

Reflections on problematic moments in the teaching of statistics as a part of mathematics school education are presented. The article concerns problems related to the predominant approach, on one hand the inclusion of statistics in school education, in which statistics is perceived as a part of mathematics, and on the other hand to the definition of the conceptual framework, ignoring the requirements of measurement theory and the lack of a systematic approach in teaching, as consequence of the configuration of the curriculum. In accordance with the set goal, an argumentation of the defended thesis is presented – the current approach approved through the curriculum prevents the development of systematic and logically consistent knowledge about the collection, processing and analysis of statistical information.

Necessity for Inclusion of Bad Posture Corrective Exercises Sets in Physical Education and Sport Classes at Bulgarian Universities

Author(s): Petya Hristova / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2021

For the past thirty years, there is a high incidence of postural and spinal disorders among young people worldwide as well as in Bulgaria. Currently, in Bulgaria, there is no legally assigned structure responsible for the regular screening and prevention of these abnormalities in the rising generation. In many Bulgarian universities in PE and Sport classes students practice one kind of sport. There are some sports, which are recommended in postural and early stages of spinal disorders, and others, which could worsen the condition. The study aimed to establish university students’ awareness of their postural/spinal status, and whether they experience the most common symptoms of postural/spinal disorders – pain, soreness, stiffness in particular parts of the body. The results show that almost half of 400 students have never been examined, and nearly 60% experience the typical postural/spinal disorders, symptoms. The authors recommend posture corrective exercise sets to be included in PE and Sport classes at universities as well as there establishment of legally assigned structure responsible for the regular screening and prevention of postural and spinal distortions.

COATING METALS WITH ZINC AND METHOD FOR MEASURING THE THICKNESS OF THE LAYER

Author(s): Miroslav Minchev / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2021

When a copper coin is immersed with zinc into a solution of a zinc salt (ZnSo4, ZnCl2 etc.) an electrochemical reaction occurs in the mixture. As a result, a thin layer of zinc appears on the surface of the copper which gives the impression for silver color. The purposes of this project are: to explain the phenomenon and to investigate relevant parameters; to measure the thickness of the zinc layer; to determine which metals can be covered with zinc in such experiments. Method for measuring the thickness of the zinc layer was obtained by using dimension properties of the coin – radius, height and mass. The advantage of this method is the fact that it can be applied for all metals whose form has an integrable volume. The thickness of the layer was determined to be in the order of 1 micrometer. The relationship between the thickness of the zinc and the time at which the coin has spent in the solution was also studied and an exponential tendency was observed. It was proved that only metals after hydrogen in the Reactivity series can be plated with zinc with this setup.

Folosirea mijloacelor muzeistice în predarea istoriei patriei în şcoala generală şi în liceu

Author(s): Nicolae Bîrdeanu / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 3/1976

Obrazovanje o genocidu nad Romima U Drugom svjetskom ratu u Republici Hrvatskoj

Author(s): Danijel Vojak / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 1/2021

The Roma population has been living in Croatian territories for more than six centuries and during that period was mostly persecuted by state and local authorities who sought to assimilate them. Such antigypsyism political practice was not unique only for the Croatian territory but was practiced in most other European countries. After World War II there was no commemoration and recognition of Roma victims in most European countries, including socialist Croatia (Yugoslavia). Such marginalization of the culture of remembrance of Roma war victims was reflected in the lack of education on this subject in the Croatian education system, where it is mostly mentioned in only a few words. The paper focuses on the analysis of how the issue of Roma suffering in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) and Europe is (un)integrated into the Croatian education system.
