Georges Ştefănesco was one of the aces of the Romanian aviation, for which he worked a few decades, especially during the period between the two wars, with a dedication rarely met, completing more than 16,000 flying hours and Being known by all our aviators as well as by the Romanian public under the name of Gogu Ştefănesco. In 1916, when he obtained the aviator's license, he established himself as an assiduous, obliging, modest member, showing great affection for the flight and very good piloting skills. Thanks to these qualities, as well as to an intense work he has gone through all the stages of the profession and he has arrived at the degree of aviator commander. During the second half of 1915, Gogu Ştefănesco registered as a volunteer at the School of Aviation of Băneasa, sponsored by the National Aerial League. On March 4, 1916, he obtained the Patent Certificate number 81. Once Romania entered the First World War (August 14, 1916), young pilot Gogu Ştefănesco carried out several reconnaissance missions as well as for the Tuning of artillery fire on the Danube front.
