Les Dialectes dans les medias et l'imaginaire linguistiques des marocains
The Moroccan media landscape has experienced phenomenal growth since the liberation of the audiovisual field and the journalistic sector. This growth is not only manifested in the plurality of channels, radios, newspapers and news sites, but also in the linguistic uses that have been accompanied by dialects, which in turn have experienced an unprecedented rise in these languages, media support. This rise, which has found fervent advocates among the political actors and activists of civil society, has not failed to stir up the fears of those who claim an Arab-Islamic identity and cling to positions against any development, dialects to the detriment of the Arabic language. These positions have as a backdrop a set of negative representations about dialects, stereotypes that reflect rather paranoid attitudes toward the mother tongues of Moroccans.
