Summary/Abstract: Separating the foreign language teaching/learning from its socio-cultural context would mean depriving it of its role as a vector of the identity and values of its speakers. Teaching both language and culture is essential for societies that are open to immigration, such as Quebec. To integrate newcomers into the collective life of the host country, it is essential that they learn the language of the majority. However, it is necessary to remember that language goes beyond the simple meaning of words: it is indicative of attitudes and behaviors whose adoption is the pledge for successful integration.
