- Summary/Abstract:Economists rarely have the opportunity to assess social change over a long period of time with companies business data. Monitoring ownership transformation in a transition country is a special challenge. We created a unique database for Slovenian companies with more than 50 employees in the period 1995 - 2022. Based on the preliminary results, it can be concluded that changes in the ownership structure of Slovenian companies were mainly determined exogenous, caused by factors outside the company, and partially endogenous, caused by internal dynamics. We evaluated both types of changes in terms of number of bankruptcies and discussed government policies, accordingly.

- Summary/Abstract:The disintegration of the world’s market and the outbreak o f the global crisis show that something is wrong with the process of globalization, which dominated in the previous period. Globalization is the process of integration of the world economy. It is currently moving from liberal to strategic competition between the leading economies in the world. The main question is how to protect small open economies from the negative consequences that this change causes. An additional problem for Serbia is that it is in the process of joining the European Union. Due to the war in Ukraine, the EU decided in 2023 to accelerate the harmonization of the market of the Western Balkans with its internal market, including the market of Serbia, without granting formal EU membership to the states. However, existing changes within globalization threaten to end this initiative. That is why this text deals with globalization relations in today's world and how these processes affect the position of Serbia.

- Summary/Abstract:Accounting is the data center of every company. It systematically records data on all business changes using the principles of completeness (all business changes are recorded in bookkeeping), timeliness (record all business changes as soon as possible), sequence (record business changes in the order of occurrence), material correctness (record those and only those business changes that actually occurred). A very important accounting principle is economy, i.e. to make entries with minimal costs. Of course, accounting does not end with recording all business changes. Recorded data in databases and data warehouses are the basis of accounting analysis, accounting reporting, auditing and planning. Applied informatics enables and facilitates the implementation of all accounting principles. In our modern times, artificial intelligence and its contribution to the economy are especially emphasized. The potentials of artificial intelligence have not been exhausted and research is also “revolving” around its application in accounting as a scientific discipline and profession. Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science that deals with the building of computer programs to solve complex tasks, thus replacing humans, their intellectual abilities and experiential knowledge. Today, artificial intelligence is expected to replace all repetitive, manual tasks in accounting. There are several examples of such recurring jobs. For example entering of received invoices. This process is a series of repetitive operations that begin with the receipt of a -vendor invoice, “extracting” from the -vendor invoice the attributes to book their -values in the journal and general ledger. From the invoice received, it is necessary to identify the invoice number, the tax base (amount of the invoice without -value added tax), the amount of VAT, the date of issue of the invoice, the deadline for payment of the invoice, the amount of the invoice. The paper investigates the possibility of applying artificial intelligence in the accounting of purchases (supplier invoices) and the limitations and difficulties in the development of such software applications in artificial intelligence. Iron OCR text (character) recognition software and C# programming language were used. The development environment Visual studio has shown satisfactory development and implementation strength and power.

- Summary/Abstract:The purposes of the research show that the use of digital technologies can improve the transformation towards a sustainable circular economy and provide good solutions to improve the efficiency of manufacturing companies. It is necessary to make the circular economy digital, and the digital economy circular. The research design represents the influence of the digital circular economy on the creation of value in the business system. The research methods in this study were qualitative and inductive, based on a review of the available literature and in-depth interviews with experts from IT and the production sector in production organizations. The main findings of the research are: 1) the business system is presented through 14 work systems that are interconnected with the research of market needs for products on the market until the end of the product’s use; 2) we divided the business system into five production cycles: design, production, distribution, use and end of use; 3) we have shown direct connections and feedback loops in working systems; 4) we presented the impact of digitization on the business system and individual digital technologies on individual production cycles; 6) we presented the strategy and practice of the circular economy with the aim of creating ecological, economic and social 'value. The limitations of the research refer to the smaller number of companies that we analyzed and the smaller number of interviewed managers. For this reason, the research is not categorized as a case study, but as an interview with experts. Despite this limitation, the results represent an acceptable level of validation, and the information is reliable. Our goal was to show how a circular economy ’based on digitization can be introduced into the business system and launch an initiative focused on material recycling towards new models of sustainable production, consumption and -use. Managers of production organizations who strive to improve the efficiency of their operations by adopting digital technologies with the aim of introducing a circular economy have practical benefits from the research. The originality of the research refers to the creation of a model of the influence of the digital circular economy on the business system, which should encourage the creation of ecological, economic and social 'value. Establishing a digital circular economy requires fundamental changes in the entire value chain from product design and technology to new business models, new ways of preserving natural resources and converting waste into resources, new ways of consumer behavior, new standards, regulations and practices, new ways of education and financing, that is, it is necessary to establish a new economic paradigm based on a digital circular economy. It is important to understand that the implementation of a digital circular economy is a necessary step towards achieving climate goals and increasing the efficiency of resources and energy.

- Summary/Abstract:By adopting the 2030 Agenda, UN member countries committed themselves to achieving the goals of sustainable development. Progress towards the stated goals requires the adoption of a comprehensive strategy, and the commitment of all actors for its realization. Following the achievement of these goals since 2015, when Agenda 2030 was adopted, it was determined that countries that are not members of the EU are significantly worse in achieving the goals of sustainable development than European countries and the EU average. The corona virus pandemic, as well as the most recent crises, in some countries have slowed down activities towards achieving these goals, while in some countries negative trends can be observed. Observing the countries of the Western Balkans, on the one hand, and Croatia and Slovenia as EU members, on the other hand, a lower status of achieving the goals of sustainable development of the countries of the Western Balkans can be observed, 'while negative or stagnant trends can also be observed in these countries that belong to the EU. It apparently speaks in support of the general knowledge that the general crisis in the world has led to a slowdown in activities towards sustainable development not only in non-EU countries, but in all countries.

- Summary/Abstract:The role of the public sector in achieving the energy efficiency goals of companies has proven to be a key link that can have a significant impact on the speed and efficiency of the energy transition in companies. Given different mechanisms at its disposal, the public sector should encourage, support and implement measures and activities that lead to a sustainable and more energy-efficient economy. Through subsidies and tax incentives, research and development funding, educational campaigns and infrastructure development in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources, the public sector can motivate businesses to invest in sustainable technologies and practices. However, sustainable operations cannot be viewed separately from the company’s main goal, i.e. achieving positive financial results. Increasing energy efficiency can significantly reduce company costs, because energy efficiency is seen as a resource in modern times. The research was conducted on a sample of companies from the energy sector of Republic of Srpska, analysing the impact of energy efficiency goals on financial results, the level of achieved energy efficiency goals, satisfaction with the level of public sector support, preferred public sector measures, and examining the connection between public sector support and the achievement of these goals. The results of the research suggest that public sector measures to encourage sustainable business are of key importance for achieving the energy efficiency goals of companies in the energy sector, which confirms our research hypothesis.

- Summary/Abstract:Subject of research: Expectations that artificial intelligence will lead to a high degree of determination in the design of organisational and generally existing systems, which confirms its persistence through the characteristic of universal diffusion. Hypothesis: Many processes will take place according to predefined software. Hardware production breaks Wall Street records. Auxiliary hypothesis: What will happen to the attitude towards work? Hypothetical statement: Artificial intelligence insists and strives to produce and realize the state of the environment. Results as a goal: there are no absolute organisations, but by designing with artificial intelligence we will strive to maximise cybernetic balance and relationships with nature and society. Historically speaking, the topic - attitude towards work is always open. Will intellectualism, creativity and innovation be exploited in the future or will the degree of independence in work exploit itself? It will be the subject of study in other social sciences, primarily sociology, philosophy and theology. “The urge to get rich forms the necessity of greater accumulation, which leads to the conclusion that the goal of capital is not investment in the sense of satisfying needs, but the capitalisation of invested capital” 3 (Marx K., 1948, p. 192). The universal application of artificial selection requires the ability to select, applications and controls. It raises communication relations to the level of absoluteness and reduces total costs. On the isolated example of processing capacity, we presented relations on two ideograms about the possibilities and challenges of designing the capacity as a whole or as parts whose inputs are by-products of the basic output. Never in history has there been such a revolutionary action of the dual effect of technical progress: Exponential innovative creative performance and spontaneous devaluation of everything that artificial intelligence has become a substitute for. When asked i f there is a god (!?), the artificial intelligence answered: “yes, now there is”

- Summary/Abstract:The pronounced volatility of security prices and interest rate changes in financial markets pose a significant challenge for institutional investors. Due to major limitations, insurance companies bear the greatest risk due to substantial legal guidelines and considerable investment restrictions. This research investigates the possibility of optimizing investment portfolios by analyzing the effect of including bonds issued following ESG standards in traditional investment portfolios. A n optimization method based on the Markowitz diversification model tests the advantages of including such bonds. The results show that the integration of ESG-labeled bonds would have positively impacted portfolio returns, risk management, and overall portfolio efficiency during the past decade. Finally, the research emphasizes the importance of diversifying investment portfolios with such bonds to respond to the challenge of heightened volatility in financial markets, providing valuable insights fo r institutional investors and the professional community. The most important limitation of the research is the fact that Markowitz's optimization assumes a norm al distribution of returns and risks, which may not be sufficiently accurate for all financial instruments.

- Keywords:Central Bank; mandatory reserves; banking sector;
- Summary/Abstract:The reserve requirement is the only instrument used by the Central Bank of BiH in the implementation of monetary policy. The required reserve rate is 10% and is applied to the base consisting of deposits and borrowed funds. Starting from January 2024, there is a change in the way of maintaining the required reserve, where the part of the required reserve that refers to the basis in EUR and in the domestic currency with a currency clause is maintained in EUR. Full application of this provision is expected from October 2024, i.e. the entire mandatory reserve that refers to the basis in EUR and in the domestic currency with a currency clause is maintained in EUR. Full application the basis in EUR and in the domestic currency with a currency clause, in fu ll amount will have to be maintained in EUR. This method of maintaining mandatory reserves will have a significant impact on the banking sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially on profitability, as it will reduce the possibility for banks to directly term funds abroad. Another important part of this Decision refers to the determination of remuneration for the amount of reserves. In the period from 2021 to 2024, the remuneration paid by the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina to commercial banks for funds in the reserve account (required reserve and funds exceeding the required reserve) was changed several times. In this paper, we will look at the repercussions of the amount of this remuneration on the operations of the banking sector in 2023. Changes related to the required reserve began to be implemented in 2023 in the changed market conditions related to the growth of interest rates in the Euro zone. The CBBH pays remuneration to the required reserve fu n d at the rate of 0.5% (base in BAM), 0.3% (base in foreign currency or BAM with a currency clause in EUR) and to the fu n d exceeding the required reserves at a rate of 0%. This has significantly reduced the funds that banks maintain above the reserve account in comparison to the previous period, and this is due to the fa ct that banks from Bosnia and Herzegovina achieve more significant returns when directly terming funds with banks abroad. In order to achieve economic growth and further strengthen stability by increasing the remuneration charged by the CBBH to commercial banks on reserve funds and required reserve funds, the banks would return a significant amount of funds to the country. This would open up the possibility of an increase in interest rates on deposits with an agreed maturity date, and further development of the reference rate of the average weighted cost of financing banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Increasing the amount of term deposits in the structure of sources of financing in the banking sector would contribute to even greater stability of the banking sector and the long-term potential for credit growth.

- Summary/Abstract:This paper tries to present the impact of AI on the economy in the future. The paper opened up several topics, from challenges in definition, measurement, corporate and individual perspectives, including challenges that individuals will face in the labor market. The development of AI in the past depended on the development of other related technologies, primarily computing capacity and the availability of large amounts of data, which will be the case in the future as well. Artificial intelligence is expected to significantly increase GDP. In the long term, the revival of economic conditions will depend on how the adoption of artificial intelligence affects the distribution of income. If advances in AI technology do not lead to higher wages, the declining share of labor income in GDP will lead to a decrease in aggregate demand. This reduction, in turn, would hinder the current and potential growth of the economy and impede the creation of new jobs, causing a delay in boosting productivity and GDP growth. Artificial intelligence will fundamentally change standard business models and pose multiple challenges to managers and companies. The intensity of the use of AI also increases with the size of the company. A comparison of different industries shows that the primary motives for using AI-based tools and other digital solutions are similar. Obstacles in the application of AI can be grouped into human (knowledge), technical and financial. In addition, gaps in existing regulation and regulatory compliance remain a challenge. Security issues, data protection and compliance will become key to protect the knowledge domain of companies on the one hand and ensure that processes are in line with regulatory standards on the other. Cooperation between authorities and companies is necessary to build a trusted system.
