Summary/Abstract: Economists rarely have the opportunity to assess social change over a long period of time with companies business data. Monitoring ownership transformation in a transition country is a special challenge. We created a unique database for Slovenian companies with more than 50 employees in the period 1995 - 2022. Based on the preliminary results, it can be concluded that changes in the ownership structure of Slovenian companies were mainly determined exogenous, caused by factors outside the company, and partially endogenous, caused by internal dynamics. We evaluated both types of changes in terms of number of bankruptcies and discussed government policies, accordingly.
