Life is too short to waste time, energy and stress in dragging the unresolved conflict – especially if it makes you suffer every day. Frequent clashes with violence in schools seem hopeless. Obviously, we can not approach in the same way, i.e. applying only disciplinary punishments and expect a different result. We need to use actual working instruments. Mediation is a powerful tool for resolving conflict situations in school. In school mediation that is also known as school intervention meetings are held in order to achieve mutually satisfying dispute resolution, supported by a neutral third party (mediator) in the cozy space of open dialogue and partnership. School mediation is an effective method for the so called “win-win” resolution of disputes, enabling both sides involved in the conflict to win and continue their relations, having mutual interest. It is possible to transform disputes by school mediation before they have occurred. It is also possible to transfer disagreements into creative energy. The article presents various conflict situations, real for Bulgarian school, and a way that they can be resolved by the teachers-mediators.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, research into the process of democratic backsliding in the states of the EU has been intensified even more than ever before. After the initial shock connected with the crisis and getting used to the new situation, more and more protests began to appear in opposition to the security measures introduced by the government. In addition, many countries have extended the catalog of powers of the security services that they could use against people who did not comply with the restrictions introduced. The article focuses on society activities in the form of protests in Spain during the first month of the pandemic, from 11 March 2020 when it was officially announced by the WHO to 31 March 2020. The analysis will answer the following questions: what issues were raised during the protests, what was their purpose? What groups protested in March 2020? Were they peaceful protests or riots, and what were their dynamics of change from peaceful to violent events? What action did the police take against the protesters? The method used in the article is the qualitative method of source analysis. In conclusion, the escalated force policing protest took place 4 times, translating into riots. Protesters took to the streets 34 times in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, and 17 times it was about other issues that were not directly related to the pandemic.

The paper aims to show journalists’ work in the conflict region from the perspective of three aspects of security: soldiers, civilians and victims, and the personal safety of media workers. Another goal is to compare the attitudes of journalists from Poland and Ukraine. The study comprised eighteen interviews with journalists from Poland and Ukraine on the Ukrainian-Russian war from 2022–2023, conducted in January–June 2023. The research sample was a group of journalists reporting the conflict native to Poland and Ukraine. The fulfilment of the set objectives was based on qualitative analysis, and the interviews were analysed using the method of condensation and interpretation of meaning. The authors conclude that respondents adapt their work style to the specifics of the conflict, working with victims of the battle is a test of responsibility for them, and that media organizations usually do not sufficiently care about the safety of their employees. Public administration is a complex social phenomenon which has its own sociological, political, legal, organizational and other features. Accordingly, the “angle” of its observation can be quite different. Public administration is therefore studied in numerous higher education institutions, both in the field of political science, sociology, law and others. Woodrow Wilson, former US president and the Nobel Prize winner, is considered the founder of the scientific approach to administration. In his scientific work from 1887, entitled “The Study of Administration”, Wilson pointed out three “dichotomies” related to public administration: (1) between politics and administration; (2) between political and administrative sciences, and (3) between politicians and civil servants. Wilson thus raised a whole series of issues that are still the subject of polemics and discussions, and his scientific thought has become a permanent legacy and the subject of study by numerous authors in both theoretical and practical analysis of public administration, which still has an impact on its changes and development.

The present text focuses on the problems faced by the men who live in the contemporary Bulgarian village. Using empirical data gathered in a long period of fieldwork, I discuss some of the aspects related to their daily life and focus on the position they occupy in the community that they are a part of. My observation showed that in many of the villages I visited, alcohol consumption was seen more as a part of everyday life, young men who consumed large amounts were looked with compation by the older generation, who often needed their physical help. The exception was in cases in which alcohol dependence led to more complex problems – for example, aggression or abuse. The case in Northwestern Bulgaria is specific and more problematic. The poverty of the region, combined with high unemployment, had created a bleaker picture. The local image of the “ pustinyaka” had a lot more of the characteristics usually associated with a marginal person.
