The objective of the article is to present the creation of Bruno Schulzin a borderland trilogy by Stanisław Srokowski. The topic of the Borderlandsthat he chose and the historic and social background of the novel made the authorintroduce the character of the author of The cinnamon shops into the trilogy. Thecreation of his identity was supposed to confirm that the Borderlands were placesexceptionally fertile in talents, full of literary giants, such as: Mickiewicz,Słowacki, Schulz. The writer’s surname, his first name, titles of short stories, hisexistence in that particular historical time and real Drohobycz – they all confirmthat this is rather reconstruction not construction of the hero’s identity that wedeal with.

The article analyzes the parts of Maria Kuncewiczowa’s autobiographicalworks on Polish literature lectures which the writer led at the Universityof Chicago in 1963-1971. They show to the readers various emotions that werecaused by the proposal of the work as a lacturer, writer's effort in preparinglectures and students and the specifics of the classes that she run. Particularattention was paid to the linguistic elements through which the authorreconstructs the memory of specific images from this period.Memoirs are written in a seemingly simple, free, natural language ofmodern intelligence ofher times. Attentive look at the research material showsthat the writer uses original wording, ornate metaphor and the language full ofexpressive means to skillfully introduce the author's narrative.

War, like any crisis provokes new “injustices of history." We can”t havecertainty today whether or not Baczyński would "past away" after the Uprising asthe "Anode" and many other young people, soldiers from the heart and history,while his work in communist Poland would be in the index of banned books andhe would not be "traitor". "Anode" - the insurgent hero in Communist Polandwas considered as a traitor, Baczyński - on the contrary - today is the undisputedhero and his work certainly is one of the pearls of contemporary Polish poetry,and the Polish people - echoing Stanislaw Pigoń - those who came to shoot anenemy with diamonds. Contemporary literary critic, Stanislaw Baczyński fearedthat "the Apostles, no one listens." However, the history of literature, assessedpoetry of his son, Krzysztof Kamil Baczyński positive. Slovenian poet Balantič,like the other "white" guerrillas history clearly assessed as traitors, annihilatingthem physically, while their poetry pushing for 40 years for the "Orwellian" grave of oblivion, covering many years of silence the poets and their works.Domobran situation is still not fully elucidated. No one is not, admittedly,officially forbidden to publish - and more - read the poets of the guerrillas, butnot every researcher of Slovenian literature has such openness. Not the first time,the arbitrary decisions taken by politicians influenced the fate of writers and theirworks, perhaps not the last time.

The article presents multi-functional characteristics of 35 periphrasesof artefact names excerpted from the poetry of Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska. Most of them were originally created by Maria Pawlikowska-Jasnorzewska. The poetess used the periphrases with different coexistingfunctions (poetical, expressive and informative). They are stylistic ornaments(e.g. flowers of municipal springs ‘balloons’), as well as they introduceadditional information (apartment made of reinforced concrete ‘shelter’)emphasizing the most specific feature, and sometimes they contain an expressiveload which does not occur in single word synonyms (miracle on a cord ‘receiver(of a telephone)’).

The article shows Maria Kuncewiczowa very personal feelings which she verbalized in her last book entitled Letters to George. Three stages of feelings have been described in the analysed stuff. These are feelings connected with the death of a spouse, namely anxiety and fear, the feelings at the very moment of death; first of all shock, and finally feelings felt after some time. Kuncewiczowa expresses the complicated world of inner feelings by means of expressive language resources, with her usual artistry.

The issues connected with human are one of topics realized in the foreign language teaching process. The lexical base of content stated above give mainly textbooks. A wide source of language, which is used in the didactic are in addition bilingual dictionaries.In the article was showed extent and kind of lingual units designed for description of human that are registered in Duży szkolny słownik polsko-niemiecki PONS (Large polish-german school dictionary PONS) – one of the most extensive learners’ dictionaries. Because of a wide range of researched material nouns were analyzed, which refer to appearance and internal psychical structure of the man determining his liking, behavior and relationship with others.Lingual units contained in the studied dictionary show feature of dichotomy with domination of negative names. The picture of human created on this material - because of a wide perspective of points, which are not socially approved – is not completely in agreement with at school promoted attitudes towards others.

The aim of the article is to present the ancient Greek drama of Ezechiel Exagogé writtenin Alexandria in the 2nd century B.C. The peculiarity of it consists in the fact that we deal herewith an example of a Greek drama inspired by the Biblical Exodus, and thus by the text outsideof the Greek language and culture. In the article the way is discussed how the Alexandrian poetused the Greek translation of the Biblical Exodus taken from the Septuaginta, and how he dramatized the prose of the original after the model of Greek drama. The attention is paid, too,to the fragments the content of them does not come from the Exodus. One of such places is thedescription of a legendary bird phoenix. In conclusion, the author states that owing to the Ezechiel’s drama the Bible of Old Testament found its way to Greek literature, and next, thanksto the Christian writer Eusebius we know at least fragments of the Exagogé.

This paper aims at showing the linguistic form of advice as a sub-directive genre ofspeech being used by Klementyna Tańska in her debut novel. The analysis carried out showedthe linguistic elements being used by the author to construct fictional advices and substantiated the relevance of choosing this speech genre as the one best serving the achievement of theobjective being set by the author to her novel.

Lidia Ostalowska's documentary is based on the structure of interchanging themes andcontrasting, hence expressive events: the juxtaposition of a fairy-tale production and theappalling reality of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, the post-war struggle forrecovering paintings interlarded with clearly marked elements of the Gypsy's struggle forkeeping their identity. The structure of descriptions that requires the vividness of the conveyedpictures makes the author use the names of colours. Therefore, the objective of this essay is thelinguistic analysis of the functions of colours in Lidia Ostalowska's documentary Farby wodne.
