Summary/Abstract: Lidia Ostalowska's documentary is based on the structure of interchanging themes andcontrasting, hence expressive events: the juxtaposition of a fairy-tale production and theappalling reality of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, the post-war struggle forrecovering paintings interlarded with clearly marked elements of the Gypsy's struggle forkeeping their identity. The structure of descriptions that requires the vividness of the conveyedpictures makes the author use the names of colours. Therefore, the objective of this essay is thelinguistic analysis of the functions of colours in Lidia Ostalowska's documentary Farby wodne.
