Author(s): Marina Petrova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2019

This report presents the activities of a small research community under the project of the School Institute of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SchI-BAS), Small Research Communities programme. The project’s authors won first place from the humanities in SchI-BAS’s 2018 session. Their project (Presentday states of some Bulgarian dialects) presents dialect features in the villages of Tsalapitsa and Lyaskovo, district of Smolyan. In the course of the research process, the young researchers got to know their birth places, mother dialect features and the specifics of Dialectology. Thus their activity turned from a challenge into an opportunity to discover – through research – knowledge about mother dialects and skills related to processing language material.

Author(s): Valentina Todorova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2020

This academic article aims to present some of the educational practices which a school, founded in 2000, implements. The very first year of the new millennium calls for greater responsibility in creating a modern school with an up-to-date infrastructure as well as for a learning model ahead of its time. Teachers are well aware that they are working on the boundary between two cultures – paper versus digital, and thus organize their teaching methods in accordance with the profile of today's student

Kapitał intelektualny sektora przedsiębiorstw na tle produktu krajowego brutto według województw

Author(s): Małgorzata Juchniewicz,Urszula Tomczyk / Language(s): Polish Issue: 04/2013

This paper presents the results of a study on the relationship between the level of the intellectual capital of companies in the voivodships and the GDP per capita. Used for the analysis a taxonomic classification method, allowed voivodship grouping by intangible resources of companies. On this basis, the selection of diagnostic features, measurement and evaluation of the intellectual capital of the business sector in the provinces was made. Next, the values of correlation coefficients were defined, which showed no statistically significant correlation between the level of intellectual capital in companies and the GDP per capita. There has been, however, determined the relationship between these indicators. Voivodships, in which the intangible assets of enterprises have achieved a high and relatively similar size of the human capital level, structural and environmental conditions also have a high GDP per capita.

Author(s): Petar Todorov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2021

Over the past two years, the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has put to the test all spheres of life not only in Bulgaria but also worldwide. It can be claimed that the educational sector has acted adequately and has been able to deal with the challenge. The article presents research on the implementation of various e-learning tools by Bulgarian and foreign universities. The research was conducted at the beginning of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 by surveying students and lecturers. It turns out that despite the plethora of e-learning tools, at many universities, even in technologically advanced countries such as China, in most cases, education is delivered through distance learning and course management systems, for instance Moodle. The research objective is to ascertain the degree of implementation of various e-learning tools at Bulgarian and foreign universities. The research subject is the degree of implementation of e-learning tools, whereas the research object is students and lecturers from Bulgarian and foreign universities. The hypothesis, which is proven, is that the implementation of diverse e-learning tools is insufficient, despite the fact that their importance is acknowledged at all levels of learning and teaching.

Fin de siècle

Author(s): Tsvetana Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

In the age of the Fin de siècle, the mythological Pan was the subject of numerous interpretations in painting, literature, and the performing arts. The article examines for the first time how the image of Pan fits into the modern Bulgarian literature of the early 20th century - in the works of Emanuil Popdimitrov, Trifon Kunev, Hristo Yassenov and Lyudmil Stoyanov. As an expression of the ideas of the epoch (in the Jugendstil and Secession currents), both in Europe and in Bulgaria, Pan and pantheism apologize for nature, the vegetative principle, youth and childhood, love fire, music and intoxication. The original in the Bulgarian interpretation is the sentimental, sensitive autumn Pan, the parodied Pan / Faun and the old wise man, master of music, and devoid of passion Pan.

The Musical Elements in Passion or Alice's Death as Sources of New Meanings

Author(s): Vesela Ganeva / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

The study traces the interrelationships between literature and the musical forms fugue and passion. Significant for the analysis is the information about the personality of Bach and the science of onomastics. I find a connection between the names of the characters of the novel and the great composer. I initiate a new reading of the traditional musical form of passion and the novel by exploring biblical and musical elements, finding that they are deconstructed by the author to create unconventional meanings.

Author(s): Siyka Chavdarova-Kostova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

A contemporary challenge for Bulgarian teachers is the presentation of learning content related to the refugee flows and the formation of personal and social competences in the context of intercultural education, aiming at awareness of the importance of the topic of migration in individual, community, national and international context. The reflective approach seems to be extremely appropriate for understanding the importance of this type of knowledge in terms of global migration processes, not only by students but also by teachers who have a wealth of opportunities to inform children and develop attitudes towards the issue within class activity, hour of class, extracurricular and out-of-school activities.

The goal of the analysis is to confirm the hypothesis that the elements of interculturalism and intercultural education influence the development of intercul- tural awareness and the formation of the overall personality of students in schools оf Novi Pazar. In a survey conducted in October of the school year 2020/21. 83 students participated in Novi Pazar primary and secondary schools (43 primary school stu- dents and 40 secondary school students). The research was conducted by surveying students of Novi Pazar schools, in which case the survey consisted of closed and open questions, and examined students’ attitudes about the concept of interculturality and intercultural education, where we by quantitatively-qualitative analysis confirm our initial hypotheses that interculturality and intercultural education affect the cultural awareness of students, their generation of attitudes, which lead to the development of the overall personality of students, their acceptance of cultural differences, anti- discriminatory behavior, tolerance and mutual dialogue.

Developing Problem Solving Competency Using Functional Programming Style

Author(s): Muharem Asanov Mollov,Petar Petrov / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

This paper is dedicated to the challenges of the education that high school students are facing while developing specific competencies related to the functional programming style (FPS). The presented educational approach consists of two components: first, learning FPS by comparing it with the imperative, procedural, object-oriented and logic programming paradigms and second, using competencies based approach for solving practical problems with functional programming. The paper presents a problem set and the phases of its application in the learning process. The results and the analysis of the approach are presented in two groups of high school students which develop successfully their specific competencies for using FPS for practical problem solving. The presented results show that the students are understanding easier FPS and its differences from their known paradigms (imperative, procedural, object-oriented and logical) by using a problem set with properly prepared practical problems which they can solve in multiple ways which lead them to the FPS solution.

Криптография и криптоанализ с MS EXCEL

Author(s): Deyan Mihaylov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

This paper provides implementations of three well-known ciphers – Caesar Cipher, Vigenere Cipher and Hill Cipher in Microsoft Excel. It is shown how the ciphers can be broken by using Brute-force Attack, Frequency Analysis Attack and Known-plaintext Attack. For the purpose of the cryptanalysis the relative occurrence frequencies of the letters and the index of coincidence (κ ) in Bulgarian language are determined. The classical Frequency Analysis Attack is modified using the cross-correlation between frequencies of letters in the natural language and the cipher text. Modular matrix operations in MS Excel are shown.

Author(s): Rosen Nikolaev,Tanka Milkova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2022

The methods of linear optimization are well-known, both in the literature and practice, as one of the most effective methods for optimizing economic phenomena and processes. Linear models with determined coefficients have been thoroughly studied so far, but there are still areas in which research related to parametric linear optimization models can be further developed and improved. In the present paper, the graphical method for solving a two-factor linear optimization problem is used to analyze the solution of a problem for optimal distribution of resources with two parameters in the coefficients multiplying the variables in one of the constraints.
