The article presents the results of a multifaceted associative experiment. It also reflects on some of the peculiarities of the ethnic consciousness young Bulgarians in Moldova. The collected data have revealed differences between urban and rural respondents’ perceptions of certain features, which are perceived astypically Bulgarian. Light has also been shed on such respondents’ auto- and hetero stereotypes as well as on differences in their perceptions of the hierarchy of values reflected in Bulgarian literature. Alongside with adefinitely positive auto-stereotype and its obvious similarity to representations of “Bulgarianness”, there seems to be a lack of qualitative and quantitative nuances. Also, reactions to the provided stimuli have showna major predominance of associations with Russian cultural and literary images. However, regardless of theabove-mentioned differences, young Bulgarians in Moldova base their outlook on key Bulgarian cultural “imagemes” through which they conceptualize and define Bulgarian ethnic values.

The Bulgarian diaspora in the Azov Sea region emerged over 150 years ago. Displaced people from Bulgaria arrived in the area mainly from the southern part of Bessarabia. At present they live in the cities of Berdiansk and Primorsk and in the surrounding villages. This diasporic group is not widely known and has not received much scholarly attention. Their knowledge of the Bulgarian language and folk traditions seems rudimentary. Despite many attempts to reclaim the Bulgarian character of this community, a process of assimilation seemsto be in progress.

The wave of immigrants surging towards Europe has put the parliaments of multicultural societies to a test. The crisis has sparked again the debates about ‘political correctness’, which is a product of multiculturalism. The present paper tackles primarily the media dimensions of political correctness and the system of rules governing a specific type of social behaviour characterised i.a. by the language used. The basic idea there of is not to offend or disrespect people on grounds of their origin, religion, gender, etc. The overview of the socio-cultural and political circumstances in which political correctness evolves, as well as the evolution of its methods and its representation in different societies confirm the original hypothesis about its ambivalent character. The conclusionis that journalists must in principle use politically correct language without turning it into a needlessly rigorous imperative.

The focus of the present paper is the EU Directive for accelerated integration of Europe-related topics in the educational process with the aim of building a unified European identity as a prerequisite for the success of Intra-European integration. The counterarguments about this initiative are presented by pointing out ways of its modification in the context of the ‘Doing European’ concept, alternative to European identity. The paper introduces modern literary works in German whose topic is the critical and ironic view of the European identity and the European values system, and which raise the issue of their reconsideration in contemporary European context – the Austrian writer Ulrike Längle’s short story ‘Freude schöner Götterfunken’: a banal reading of Schiller’s aesthetics based on the idea of personal freedom and the inviolability of human dignity, and the German author Ulrike Draesner’s ‘Europa’ depicting the European continent as a jig-saw puzzle whose pieces can be randomly moved and rearranged

The impossibility of forming legitimate bodies of power, as well as the coincidence of various crises creates prerequisites for leadership. The leadership problem is seen in the impossibility of political actors to establish themselves as leaders in the process of implementing a specific policy and forming followers to change the environment and get out of the crisis. Phraseology is the national wealth of every language and culture in general. It is unique, has a historical thread, reflects the wisdom of ancestors and the observations of contemporaries. It can be serious, funny, instructive, figurative and direct. That is why it is productive in literature, the media space and in common colloquial language. The authors of the article follow the emergence of idioms as an element of semiotics, which can be understood as a sign. Through semiotics, one can perceive not only the creation of idioms, but also their potential interpretation for the reader or viewer and track their impact and effect on the media perceiver. Semiotics provides phraseology with a sign subsystem in media space, advertising, billboards, caricatures and in the form of images in the printed press. Roman Jakobson and Umberto Eco are semioticians who brought a new look to semiosis in general. By doing so, they expanded the field of research to unexplored dimensions.

Brand, branding and rebranding are phenomena of today. Brand and brand management are talked about in many contexts today, one of which is the strength and power of the brand. We are currently dealing with a number of branding and especially rebranding campaigns across the entire spectrum of products and services. What does brand, branding and rebranding bring and what does a long-term strategy in the field of rebranding look like? These are the basic questions we want to answer in our study. We chose the Czech brand Mattoni from Mattoni 1873. The goal is to show what a strategic approach to rebranding should look like and what brand and identity elements are part of it. At the same time, we want to point out that rebranding is not just a change to or updating of the logo, but that it is a conceptual and sophisticated system of logical steps that are not static, but reflect development trends. We draw information from generally available secondary data, as well as information provided by the company Mattoni 1873. The complexity, strategicness, long-term and precision of the rebranding of the Mattoni brand is an example and at the same time an inspiration for the correct grasp of the rebranding as a whole.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a crisis that has critically affected higher education institutions. With the sudden shift to emergency remote education during the pandemic, students’ online experiences have become a growing concern among teachers. This study aims to gain insights into students’ experiences of online activities in a hybrid learning approach. A total of 80 students enrolled in undergraduate programs at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania, responded to an open-ended online questionnaire. This study used the content analysis to find out the positive and negative experiences in online learning, the preference for continuing instruction in a certain format and the reason for choice. The results showed that students' resources and skills played an important role in terms of positive or negative study experiences: cost and time effectiveness, easy access to many study materials and good distance learning skills helped to cope with this pandemic, while little or no interaction with colleagues and teachers and too many hours on screen caused difficulties and dissatisfaction among other students. Despite these issues, most students are interested in continuing their online instruction, but also face-to-face or hybrid activities. This study can provide recommendations derived from the interpretation of participant feedback for improvements in future online learning experiences.
