Author(s): Thao Do Thi,Thu Nguyen Thi Anh,Nho Hoang Thi,Tan Nguyen Thi / Language(s): English Issue: 7/2024

Early intervention for children with autism is crucial for their development and quality of life. Different early intervention models exist, including the Early Start Denver Model, which has scientific evidence and is included in Vietnam's Guidance Document on Diagnosis and Intervention for Children with autism spectrum disorders. Therefore, quantitative research design and descriptive statistics methodologies are used in the study to review the Denver early intervention model's effectiveness in treating children with autism worldwide and bring lessons learned for application in Vietnam. This narrative review analyses 16 scientific articles conducted in an international database. Research results show that the Early Start Denver Model is efficacious in improving core defects in children with autism, such as social skills, communication skills, and repetitive behaviors,…; using the Early Start Denver Model will improve parent-child interactions, reducing stress for parents during the parenting process. The findings also indicate lessons for applying the Early Start Denver Model for children with autism in Vietnam, considering factors like regional culture, educational facilities, and learning materials; motor skills and imitation skills should be combined with other therapies for better effectiveness.

Instrumente educaționale digitale pentru orele de educație muzicală din ciclul primar. O analiză cantitativă asupra utilizării mijloacelor digitale la ciclul primar în România

Author(s): Daniel-Alex Milencovici / Language(s): English,Romanian Issue: 1/2023

Updating education in primary school music classes should include a modern pedagogical strategy, through which students understand and develop new skills with the help of digital educational tools. These tools can be valued with little effort by students, as these generations easily use the digital environment. In this regard, the proposed research analyses quantitatively the results of a sample of 1,151 primary school teachers, which highlights their readiness to use digital educational tools during music education classes. Also, in this article are proposed a series of digital tools (music software, applications, platforms) that can be integrated in the Music and motion classes or in extracurricular contexts to develop musical skills in children.

This article showcases a successful cooperation that addresses a novel addition introduced in the 2017 Music Theory school curricula, with a particular emphasis on creative elements. The exemplified scenario is a product of a partnership between two Music-Specialised High Schools. The students, who played a pivotal and valued role in this activity, were guided by coordinating teachers and supported by the section dedicated to creative aspects of the platform https://www.cantacumine.ro/. They had the opportunity to develop their creative talent in rhythmical-melodic and harmonic contexts, creating new musical structures in one, two or three parts. The students used notation programs to create their compositions, demonstrating their eagerness to acquire digital music notation skills through dedicated practice, largely carried out after school hours.

Locul și rolul jocurilor didactice muzicale

Locul și rolul jocurilor didactice muzicale

Author(s): Lina–Ildiko MAGYARI / Language(s): Romanian Issue: Sp. Issue/2023

The didactic game is one of the most beloved methods in which emphasis is placed on the personal development of children. I wanted to create a personal approach to the theme proposed by the organizers. The report presents several games such as „Robingo”, „Puzzle”, „Circle ball” etc. The current curriculum is beneficial for the application of didactic games, and it is known that the framework is provided in the elementary cycle in the 3rd and 4th grades. Emile Jaques Dalcroze, Carl Orff, Lars Edlund, Kodaly Zoltan represent specialists interested in the effects of movement games in educational activities. I hope that this paper will be a point of reflection on how the personal connections between students can play a role in shaping the future generation.

Munca profesorului cu sine însuși în predarea online Jurnal de pandemie

Munca profesorului cu sine însuși în predarea online Jurnal de pandemie

Author(s): Cătălina-Elena Mihăilă / Language(s): Romanian Issue: Sp. Issue/2023

By radiographing the pandemic period and, implicitly, teaching online, we can categorize them as a combination of lessons, challenges and "inner struggles." In other words, we can discuss this as a period of adaptation, change and adaptation to change, exit from the comfort zone and, last but not least, reinvention. The work of the teacher himself does not accidentally refer to a masterpiece in the training and education of any dramatic artist. The teacher can be seen as both a director and an actor. This "work" brings into question the continuous work of the teacher with himself, a work of knowledge, re-education and invention of his own instruments both internal and external. This remote or online teaching required a different kind of communication, a "pseudo-communication". From this point of view, we can note the importance of directing and organizing the teacher's own inner laboratory so that he succeeds in arousing the inner universes of the student. Moreover, we can discuss the reinvention of both the teacher and the educational forms and means.

BENEFITS OF INTEGRATING EXTENSIVE READING IN TEACHING/LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGES AT TERTIARY LEVEL

Author(s): Anca Pecican / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2023

Extensive reading (ER) is a widely used practice in teaching foreign languages to learners ranging from primary school pupils to adults. Full immersion in second language input through reading compelling texts has been proved to generate multiple positive effects on L2 learning such as: reading fluency development; increase in motivation and attitude improvement; writing skill development; learner autonomy enhancement; and the list could go on. The present study is an investigation into practical cases of L2 ER programmes at the tertiary level as published in academic literature with the aim of highlighting their documented benefits for university students. Research studies using a preand post-test design identified significant improvement in the case of students undergoing an ER treatment as compared to students who took part in a skill-based instruction. Data collection procedures relying on questionnaires pinpointed positive attitudes such as comfort, reduced anxiety, perceived linguistic and intellectual gains. In addition, the freedom of selecting the reading materials, as well as participation in interactive reading-based tasks count among valuable motivational factors that support reading.

TEACHING ROMANIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN A MULTICULTURAL CLASSROOM

Author(s): Silvana Diana Stoica / Language(s): English Issue: 38/2024

Over the past years, Romanian teachers have witnessed the increasing immergence of multicultural classes due to a different immigration policy and to an increase of foreign students who choose to study in Romania and who start with learning the language as to later pursue their education. These students enrolled in the UPB Preparatory Year of Romanian Language for Foreigners come from different cultural backgrounds, have a different language, economic status and religion. Multicultural classes are designed to prepare them to study in a democratic environment and to consider their accomplishments as individuals. Institutions must adapt their teaching methods and materials, teaching and learning styles, attitudes of teachers and cultural perceptions.

EARLY EDUCATION AND THE ROLE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRESCHOOL CHILD

EARLY EDUCATION AND THE ROLE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRESCHOOL CHILD

Author(s): Miluța Ursu / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 38/2024

Emotional education and the development of social skills gained ground in global education systems with the publication of "Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman in 1995. Educational programs are recommended to equip students not only with essential academic skills, but also with emotional and social skills. This set of skills, including self-awareness, emotion regulation and empathy, is crucial for success throughout life and has its foundation in childhood. Studies indicate that stricter discipline, compared to overly permissive discipline, favors the development of a higher EQ in children. It is also recognized that long hours in front of screens can be an impediment to the development of emotional skills. Today's children tend to spend a considerable amount of time interacting with screens compared to time devoted to other educational or social activities. Surprisingly, the number of hours spent in front of the television by a child by the age of five can even exceed the number of hours a university student devotes to classes during a higher education.

Brainpower in the Classroom: The Impact of Knowledge Management on Secondary School Teachers

Author(s): Adesoji A. Oni,Görkem Avcı / Language(s): English Issue: 77/2024

This study examined knowledge management and teacher job performance in public secondary schools. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. A multi-stage sampling procedure was used to select 400 respondents for the study. The data obtained through the instrument were analysed using percentage and Pearson Moment Correlation Coefficient statistical tools. The study’s findings showed that knowledge support, knowledge competency, knowledge sharing, knowledge mapping, and knowledge infrastructure are related to teachers’ job performance. The study’s findings recommended that school principals should encourage knowledge sharing by organising strategies for teachers to share knowledge among themselves; promote collaborative teaching and supervise its effectiveness; cultivate a good practice of accurate record keeping as this will enhance organisational knowledge mapping.

THE KNOWLEDGE OF ANGANWADI SERVICES IN THE COMMUNITY AND THE PROBLEMS OF ANGANWADI WORKERS

Author(s): Arunima N. B.,Anithamol BABU / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2021

Community knowledge on public services and problems of people who worked at the grassroots level to implement that program needs to get much attention from the concerned Governments. Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) scheme is the world's largest community-based program targeted at children up to 6 years, pregnant women, lactating mothers, and adolescent girls in India. Therefore, the current study aims to study the knowledge of Anganwadi services in the community and the problems of Anganwadi workers. The study adopted a mixed-method approach by taking sequential explanatory research in both quantitative and qualitative phases. The participants are selected using survey method in quantitative phase and a self-prepared questionnaire is used to collect the data. An interview method is used in the qualitative phase. The study result shows that more than three-quarters of the respondents believe that children are the key beneficiaries of services provided by Anganwadi. The majority (89.6%) of the participants knows that children below six years of age and pregnant women (58.5%) are the beneficiaries of supplementary nutrition. However, the majority of the people do not know about the referral services and nutrition and health education services from Anganwadi. The major problem faced by Anganwadi workers includes an inadequate honorarium, large target area, excessive record maintenance and infrastructure-related problems.

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION UNITS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS IN PRESCHOOL EDUCATION UNITS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Author(s): Maria Pescaru / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2021

Personality characteristics are formed and self-created through a mechanism built in society and a special tool - interpersonal relationships. Relationships within educational units, between colleagues, can influence the efficiency of teachers, in order to develop a balanced educational process. The study was conducted to ascertain the quality of interpersonal relationships between directors of preschools in urban areas, teachers, preschoolers and parents of preschoolers in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, during the period of teaching activities that took place online at the beginning of 2020, starting with March 10. We conducted a sociological survey, using the questionnaire as a research tool, because the realistic concept that has earned its deserved place among theorists and practitioners, is that we should not absolutize the two terms of the educational process, teacher - subject, but must look as mutually receptive partners who are co-participants in the interaction. The directors of the pre-school units also played an important role in that period, because they have to carry out a complex activity of designing, preparing, organizing, coordinating and administering the elements involved in achieving educational objectives. The interaction of directors with teachers and parents involves complex skills.

Exploring the Educational Efficacy and Potential of 24-Hour Hackathon Programming Marathon – HackEmotion

Author(s): Małgorzata Przybyła-Kasperek,Rafał Doroz,Agnieszka Lisowska,Grzegorz Machnik,Arkadiusz Nowakowski,Krzysztof Wróbel,Beata Zielosko / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

This paper addresses the issue of modern didactics and student motivation for self-learning as well as tackling significant practical challenges. In technical and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education, achieving high levels of motivation is particularly important, as students often become overwhelmed by the vast amount of information and opportunities which lead to diminished interest. At the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Silesia in Katowice, a Hackathon – a 24-hour programming marathon – was organized to enhance student engagement. During this event, students confronted a critical problem in modern society, i.e. emotion recognition. The goal was to develop solutions and help for fostering emotion recognition skills in young people with real-world implementation potential. Additionally, students tested their abilities under time pressure, honed their group work competencies, and faced real-time problem-solving scenarios. This paper presents an evaluation of the event’s impact, and analyzes the results of a post-event survey, providing feedback to improve the quality of future Hackathons. The main research questions we posed during the research were: RQ1: At what level of quality was the Hackathon event organized? Werestudents well informed and felt cared for during this event? RQ2: What aspects and properties did motivate students most to take part in events organized at the university like Hackathon? RQ3: What competencies, knowledge and skills were developed by participants in the Hackathon? RQ4: Do students consider issues related to recognizing emotions important and the created applications possible to use in practice? In this paper, we answer these questions using statistical analysis as well as simple machine learning models.

Author(s): Lenka Szentesiová,Mária Sovíková / Language(s): Slovak Issue: 1/2024

The present paper deals with the issue of how poetry is read by pupils in primary education. This proves to be challenging, especially in view of a number of reception obstacles, which point, in particular, to pupils’ underdeveloped imagery and inability to navigate through poetic devices. In the empirical part of the paper, research was conducted using focus groups, reading, and subsequent interpretation of poetry by Year 4 pupils. The data obtained from the research confirms the pupils’ limited receptive skills and also points tothe necessity of their continuous improvement.
