Zawody sportowo pożarnicze ochotniczych straży pożarnych gminy Wieluń w latach 2008–2014

Author(s): Krzysztof Adam Latocha / Language(s): Polish Issue: 14/2014

Zawody mobilizują członków OSP do stałego doskonalenia umiejętności obsługi sprzętu fachowego, dają podstawę oceny stanu wyszkolenia pożarniczego, a także popularyzują wśród społeczeństwa szerokie spektrum zagadnień ochrony przeciwpożarowej i przygotowują do udziału strażaków ochotników do startu w zawodach wyższego szczebla.

A CSÁSZÁRKULTUSZ FŐOLTÁRA PANNONIA SUPERIORBAN

Author(s): Endre Tóth / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 1-2/2001

„HUNKORI” SÍROK A PÁTYI TEMETŐBEN

Author(s): Katalin Ottományi / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 1-2/2001

A TECHNOLOGICAL APPROACH OF A MICROLITHIC ASSEMBLAGE: THE SITE OF TATA (MIDDLE PALAEOLITHIC, HUNGARY)

Author(s): MARIE-HÉLÈNE MONCEL / Language(s): English Issue: 1-2/2001

The palaeolithic site Tata dated to the oxygen isotopic stage 5 is famous for its very strange lithic assemblage, most of which are smaller than 30 mm. Other OIS 5 sites in Central Europe have yielded microlithic assemblages which are not always related to the specific raw material conditions. The technological analysis of the cores provides new patterns about the technological choice for flaking, which seems to belong to a specific tradition. This hypothesis could be confirmed by the comparative studies of several Middle European microlithic assemblages from OIS 11 to 4–3.

A KÖZÉPKORI HENYE FALU TEMPLOMA (TAMÁSI–ALSÓCSERÉNGÁT)

A HAEDUUSOK ÉS RÓMA - Magyar ásatások Bibractéban

Author(s): Miklós Szabó / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 1-2/2003

This study is the edited version of the inaugural lecture presented at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, 21st of March 2002 by Miklós Szabó. Its main objective is the presentation of processes unfolding as a result of the encounter of the Roman civilisation and the Celtic culture, based on the history and archaeological heritage of the Aeduan tribe of Central France. The analysis is based on, to a large extent, the evidences of the Mont-Beuvray European Archaeological project. The expedition of the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest joined these excavations since 1988. The Hungarian investigations were directed at, in the beginning, the main road of the oppidum and resulted the unexpected observation that this important axis determining the structure of the town Bibracte originated in the period 120 to 80 B.C. At the same time, the archaeological material also testified that intensive trade relations between the Aeduan capital and the republican Rome preceded essentially the time of Caesar. As a direct consequence of these contacts, Central Gallia attained a stage of real monetary economy instead of the so-called tribal monetary system. The use of the Greek alphabet was spread simultaneously. The settlement history of the locality following the Roman conquest was enriched by the Hungarian excavations with data on the insula containing the “Large Forge”. During these works, the first public building of Bibracte was discovered in 2001, erected in all probability between 50 and 30 B.C. Finally, one of the most important conclusions of the study is separating the Romanisation phase of the urban development in Bibracte from that of the developments encountered during the period of the Celtic independence. This recognition is in good accordance with the view stating that urbanisation in the Celtic world was prepared by the economical changes originating from the Italo-Celtic environment in the 3rd century B.C., the acceleration of which could be influenced by new type contacts with the Hellenistic world.

10–11. SZÁZADI TEMETŐ KÖRÖSTARJÁN-CSORDÁSDOMBON (TĂRIAN, ROMÁNIA)

Author(s): Attila Lakatos / Language(s): Hungarian Issue: 1-2/2003

In the spring of 1967, at the village Köröstarján (Tărian), lying close to the western border of Romania, in the vicinity of the town Nagyvárad (Oradea) on the right bank of the river Sebes-Körös graves were found during the extraction of sand pits on the hill called Csordásdomb (Fig. 1). Rescue excavations were started in April of the same year by N. Chiodosan and D. Ignat, who opened altogether 41 graves. Apart from graves dated to Celtic, Sarmatian and uncertain periods, there were 12 Hungarian burials of 10–11th centuries (Fig. 2). The former 10–11th century cemetery must have contained much more graves as the excavations could not delimit the extent of the cemetery in any directions. The documentation concerning the excavations remained also in a deficient state. Thus it is very difficult to draw conclusions on the order of the burials. The graves were oriented, with minor divergences, to the west, with the exception of grave No. 29 oriented with the head facing south. Several of the graves were disturbed in the remote past. Horse harness was found in two graves (21, 29) and remains of a horse skull in one (this latter was a robbed grave, see Fig. 3/7). In grave No. 21 (Fig. 3/5) an arrowhead made of iron was found. This was the only grave with arms among the grave-goods. On the basis of the finds, all of the graves could be dated to the 10th century with one exception. Probably they started to use the cemetery before the middle of the 10th century and it was continued in this function till the end of the century. The only exception is one skull buried separately dated by a denar of Ist (Saint) László, King of Hungary in 1077–1096 (Fig. 3/2). According to the opinion of the author, this skull was dug into the already long forsaken cemetery by the end of the 11th century

Author(s): Aleksander I. Zyrianow,Andriej Ju. Koroliow,Swietłana E. Myszliawcewa,Azat A. Safarian / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2016

Located in the south of Ural, Perm Krai, apart from mineral resources and well-developed industry, can boast vast areas that lend themselves to active and qualified tourism, with the quality of an amateur sport. The development of these forms of tourism often requires large expenditure needed for adjusting the space to various types of activity. It also requires a correlation between a given character of the space and the preferred form of tourism, which often leads to environmental conflicts between the development of tourism and nature protection. The article presents the most important elements of the tourism potential in Perm Krai, as well as the sports tourism development perspectives in the context of real and potential environmental conflicts.

O myśl etyczną w ekofilozofii

O myśl etyczną w ekofilozofii

Author(s): Mieczysław Lubański / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/1997

Kiedy L. von Bertalanffy w latach trzydziestych, a więc jeszcze przed drugą wojną światową, wysunął pojęcie systemu, z pewnością nie przewidywał, jaką karierę ono zrobi.

W ostatnich dziesiątkach lat XX wieku problematyka ekologiczna została zauważona w filozofii, a ściśle mówiąc w poszczególnych naukach filozoficznych. W związku z zagrożeniem środowiska naturalnego, problemy ekologiczne pojawiły się w filozofii przyrody – zwłaszcza w biofilozofii (filozofia przyrody ożywionej), natomiast ekologiczne zagrożenia życia i zdrowia człowieka spowodowały zainteresowanie tą problematyką w antropologii filozoficznej.

Influence of parental messages on the aggressiveness of teenagers

Influence of parental messages on the aggressiveness of teenagers

Author(s): Irena Levkova / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2018

Aim. The aim of the study is to find what Parental Messages (PM) modern Bulgarian teenagers receive in the process of important social and cultural changes in the post-totalitarian society and which ones are ‘responsible’ for the growing aggression in and outside schools. The Parental Messages are statements made by parents towards the younger generation that are transmitted in the socio-psychic and the sociocultural space as undisputable rules, pieces of wisdom and values, i.e. they form both the content of the Parent Ego state and the sociocultural Parent governing the behaviour and the attitude of the people. Methods. We chose 64 statements commonly known in the Bulgarian sociocultural space were presented to 284 teenagers aged 14-18 to find out what messages the contemporary teenagers receive from their parents. Then we chose 40 of the teenagers and in addition we tested them with the Buss-Durkee inventory. The Parental Messages received by the aggressive and the non-aggressive teenagers were compared. Results. The study found significant differences in the Parental Messages received by the two groups which is a premise for different content of the Parent Ego state and different behavior of the two groups. Conclusions. The results obtained so far lead to the conclusion that the Parental Messages the aggressive adolescents were given from their parents in childhood and continue to be given during adolescence take the form of the content of the Parent Ego state and in this case a Parent who is able to directly realise itself in aggressive behaviour because this is the behaviour which is ‘allowed’ by the parents (mainly by the fathers). Parents teach their children to be aggressive, though they are not likely to fully realise that. Originality. A study with the author’s own methodology (questionnaire about the Parental Messages) was conducted among teenagers and the results were compared to the results from the Buss-Durkey inventory.

Halikarnas Balıkçısı’nın Aganta Burina Burinata Romanını Ekoeleştirel Bakışla Okumak

Author(s): Ece Saatçıoğlu / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 01/2016

The Fisherman of Halicarnassus (Cevat Şakir Kabaağaçlı) is known as a short story, novel, memoir and essay author who writes about the flora, climate and nature of the Aegean and the Mediterranean regions and the inhabitants who live on the shore and even on the sea. This study, from an ecocritical stance, scrutinizes the novel titled Aganta Burina Burinata to reveal how the writer depicts human-nature relationship and the way(s) nature shapes and reconstructs human identity. Ecocriticism is an interdisciplinary critical approach which mainly studies the relationships among nature and its surroundings, language and literature, analyzes the ties between human culture and environment, and explores human and nature attachments as well as culture and environment interactions. The Fisherman of Halicarnassus, in his Aganta Burina Burinata, just like in many of his works reflects both the uniqueness and the interrelatedness of the ecosystem, flora, humans, nonhumans, meteorology, geographical structures, natural beauties, cultures, economic and social conflicts of the regions from a holistic standpoint. In this novel, the author criticizes the lifestyle of those who exploit the land, and in order to unite with nature he promotes life on sea for it makes social equalization possible.

Mnemonic Agency of Water in the Anthropocene: Material and Discursive Entanglements in Emmi Itäranta’s Dystopian Cli-Fi Novel Memory of Water

Mnemonic Agency of Water in the Anthropocene: Material and Discursive Entanglements in Emmi Itäranta’s Dystopian Cli-Fi Novel Memory of Water

Author(s): Fatma Aykanat / Language(s): English Issue: Special/2018

Under the contemporary ecological threats and human-induced environmental transformations observed in the Anthropocene, water has turned into an irreplaceable natural resource and a valuable asset for human survival. More alarmingly, scarcity of water has been expected to be more severe in the near future, and cause global scale water wars over the possession of it involving many countries. Within a New Materialist theoretical framework, this study, which is based on the ecocritical analysis of Emmi Itäranta’s Cli-Fi novel Memory of Water (2014), treats water as an agential nonhuman element with the capacity to change the morphology of its surroundings as well as having a consciousness enabling water to store “in its memory everything that’s ever happened in this world” (Itäranta 90), both literally and metaphorically. Literally, absorbing the toxic chemicals released by various human activities nearby, water gets contaminated by humans. Its unnaturally changed colour reveals the responsibility of the humans in this contamination. In a similar way, metaphorically, water remembers what has been “done” to it by humans. In this respect, this study argues that water has a mnemonic narrative agency combining human memory and environmental memory. Although water is a vital natural resource for human beings, it is also an independent environmental force that will never yield to man-made chains, as Emmi Itäranta highlights in Memory of Water (2014). Water can never be possessed by humans; it belongs to everyone and to no one. In Memory of Water (2014), Itäranta envisions a dystopic future –The Twilight Century- challenged by global warming, melting ice-caps, shortage of fresh water, and dominated by water criminals, strict water quotas, illegal water pipes, water guards, black markets, toxic plastic graves, water-related illnesses, and military and political power holders trying to monopolise the remaining fresh water reserves through fear and violence. Although it is not customary for the tea masters to accept women as apprentices, the seventeen-year-old female protagonist of the novel, Noria, is unconventionally trained by her father Master Kaitio to be a tea master; the watcher of water as well as its servant. In such an apocalyptic future, when scarcity of water reconfigures all prevailing discursive formations, Noria tries to survive, to make crucial decisions, and most importantly, to tell herstory as a female voice raised against the history written by the suppressive patriarchal forces. At that point, the memory of water as a versatile, unyielding nonhuman element, and the human memory of a tea master, the watcher of water, are entangled.

Türk Halk Şiirinde Toplumsal Doğalarin Trajedisi: ‘Çitleme Ağitlari’

Türk Halk Şiirinde Toplumsal Doğalarin Trajedisi: ‘Çitleme Ağitlari’

Author(s): Nejdet Özberk / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Special/2018

One of the main aspects of human-nature relationships is emotional and poetic responses to the socioecological changes and losses. This paper is about ecopoetry on the destroyed socialnatures, enclosure elegies in the Turkish grassroots environmentalism against the results of the seizure of commons (eg; water and land) by either state or corporate powers or the ecological despoilation and devastation of globalised industrial capitalism. In literature, as universal language of grief, an elegy is a poem of loss or mourning written after a death in order to express grief. The enclosure elegies is a group of poem of social protest and lamentation regarding the inconsolable effects of enclosure on the landscape and its people. Enclosure seems to represent a special threat to the people and nature. Because of the characteristics of the genre, the enclosure elegies show the deepest socioecological sensitivity and the strongest awareness in folk poetry. Although there is a complaint and anger about the loss and devastation of nature in every kind of nature writing, the ecological grief and revolt of the mourning reaches its peak in poetry and especially in the enclosure elegies. Every elegy casts a regional socioecological crisis, tragedy and sorrows created by industrial encroachment on our natural, human and non-human world. These poems contain striking images of suffering natural and human life at the margins of society and present social criticism, and different understandings of the relationships between people and ecology, inequality and injustice. Social and ecological concerns are constant and obvious features of all elegies. The poet documents both the destruction of a place and people and a life before and after the social and environmental collapse-the destruction caused by enclosures. This study, which aims a systematic analysis of the ecological dimension of a new category of Turkish folk poetry as a literary genre, the enclosure elegy, which has not been examined so far, attemps to discuss the local nature and ecological poetry from an ecopolitical, ecocritical and the new folkloristics perspectives. Total seven elegiac poems evaluated, collected through virtual snowball technique from different localities in Turkey.

Tolkien’in Yüzüklerin Efendisi Eserinin Çevreci Analizi: Yikici Endüstriye Karşi Kir Yaşami

Author(s): Çağrı Eryilmaz / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Special/2018

This study aims to analyze environmental aspects of J. R. R. Tolkien’s Lord of The Rings Trilogy. Trilogy is a good example of the role of literature for the construction of environmental consciousness in society through media. In this study, the Qualitative Content Analysis of the trilogy is realized and the findings are presented within five coding categories as Arcadian Nature, Bad Nature, Destruction of Nature, Stewardship and Rural Community. Arcadian Nature states the power, history and immortality of nature while Bad Nature category shows the evil aspect of nature with bad creatures. Under the heading of Destruction of Nature, Tolkien implies the environmental destruction of industry and war. Stewardship category shows the protection and sustainable use of nature while Rural Community heading presents the solidarity and closed community of Hobbits living harmony with nature. Findings show that behind the struggle of good and evil, Tolkien implies the environmental and social destruction caused by industrialism. Hobbits living in rural Shire region are idealized as an environmental rural community with their solidarity, closed structure and horticulture of low technology. The rural community life and stewardship of mankind are presented as solutions for environmental problems.

“Çernobil Duasi”Nda, Anlati Kahramanlarinin Felaket Karşisindaki Gerçek/Gerçeküstü Tutumlari”

Author(s): Ayşe İLKER / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Special/2018

Svetlana Aleksiyeviç, who was granted the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2015, tried to reveal the vital and social consequences of the explosion that took place at the reactor of Chernobly Nuclear Power Plant in 26 April 1986, through that narratives of the first hand witnesses of the disaster. Four reactors were active during the day of the explosion. The construction of the two reactors was still going on. In 25 April 1986 the fourth reactor was taken under maintanence. Engineers and technicians began an experiment for the purpose of taking precaution against a power failure. The experiment began at 23:00 at midnight to be realized on the night of 26 April, at 01:23. This was the beginning of the nuclear disaster. 485 villages and towns disappeared after the explosion in Belarus with 10 million population. One out of every five person in Belarus lives in the radiation contaminated area. This makes a number of 2 milion and 100 thousand ppeople and 700 thousand of them are children. The writer interviewed the engineers, technicians, workers and educators who worked in the Chernobyl Plant and their families and turned these interviews into artistic assets through “narration” technique. The ways in which the characters interpret the disaster they experienced, their thoughts upon the abrubt change in their lives, their undescribable and hopeless wait against the exhaustion of their family members, partners and children beside their own exhaustion and physical pain were narrated through the first person point of view. In these narratives, which carry the burden of a tragedy and perhaps something beyond a tragedy, the characters sometimes accept the disaster “within realistic terms” and sometimes they get closer to a more “surreal” discourse and they think of themselves as they are in a dream or in an illusion. This conflict is the most important effect of the radiation. In the narratives everything is questioned and addressed including the socialist system, technology and the culture, daily and and formal relations, the simple and the aesthethic aspects of life. This shows that the accounts of life are revealed by the individuals of a community who suffered from the heaviest burden of the most devestating disaster of the 20th century. In this essay, basically Aleksiyevich’s way of expressing this disaster through these narratives is going to be focused on and the theoretical basis of the preferred narrative technique is going to be discussed. Besides the real and surreal aspects of the attitudes of the trauma victims is going to be highlighted.

Cengiz Aytmatov'un Dişi Kurdun Rüyalari Romaninda Çevre Felaketi

Cengiz Aytmatov'un Dişi Kurdun Rüyalari Romaninda Çevre Felaketi

Author(s): Ayvaz MORKOÇ / Language(s): Turkish Issue: Special/2018

One of the most prominent authors of the Turkic World, Cengiz Aytmatov, along with his various qualities is also known for his sensitivity towards the environment and for his love of nature. When we scrutinize his novels and short stories we see that he makes keen environmentalist criticism. He wants to make sure that the equilibrium of the nature is maintained and that animal rights be observed. In The Dreams of the She-Wolf (1990) that we closely investigate the issues of environmentalism are dealt with extensively. In this novel, Aytmatov sees the destructive human activities as the worst threat to nature. In the analysis we have made on The Dreams of the She-Wolf, we see the conflict between “natural” and “artificial”. Forests, antelopes and wolves are the natural elements of the region. On the hand, but fort he helicopter and modern weaponry the forests would not be burned completely for hunting, and the herd of antelopes would not be massacred most brutally. Aytmatov who notes that animals also have feelings just like human beings, is the first man of letters who dwells on the animal mind. He is an author who does not use forced methods to approach animals to humans. He depicts a wolf with its mental activities as a real wolf. In The Dreams of the She-Wolf Aytmatov, suggests that the nature has a excellently well coordinated system. The author, demonstrates how both humans and technological developments devastate the nature. For all these reasons, The Dreams of the She-Wolf as a novel which reflects the issues of environmentalism and the environmental catastrophe as “the approaching threat” can be considered as a milestone in World Literature.

Diversity of HES Opposition Movement in Turkey: Black Sea Region Cases

Diversity of HES Opposition Movement in Turkey: Black Sea Region Cases

Author(s): Çağrı Eryilmaz / Language(s): English Issue: 55/2017

This paper aims to grasp the raising environmental grassroots movement after 2000 throughout Turkey, as it seems much different from traditional, urban, hierarchical and professional environmentalism. For the first time, rural people developed hundreds grassroots movements throughout the country challenging thousands of smallscale hydroelectric power plant (HES) projects. The field study is based on the analysis of environmental activities, organization and approaches to science and technology, economy, politics in Black Sea Region where the grassroots movement is much significant. After two years of following hundreds of cases, three fields are chosen that are different in terms of organization and politics, then 27 semistructured interviews were conducted on the field. Field study shows that rural and local people, defending their living space, not only joined the environmental protests but also asked to join decisionmaking mechanisms about their livelihood. The threat to livelihoods dialectically makes passive rural people become active citizens defending their ecosystem. Environmental grassroots movement shows civic potential of their communities and leads them to participate into decision-making. Rural people demand to decide about their lives instead of representatives and bureaucrats. Moreover, they strongly criticize national and international environmental NGOs that avoid challenging HES projects and acting together with corporate and state organizations.
