Grywalizacja jako klucz do zwiększenia zaangażowania młodego pokolenia w działania społeczne.

Author(s): Marta Du Vall / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2018

Many NGOs are active in social media, which today should be considered not only as a tool of marketing communication, but as well as a space in which are carried out functions assigned to civil society, including: education, mobilization and integration. It seems that one of the ways to attract the attention of young Internet users (ie. 3F generation – fun, friends, feedback) and raising the level of their involvement in social activity is to use elements of games in the context of the activities carried out by NGOs. Creating a meaningful and extraordinary experience, in which our target group can get involved directly.

Author(s): Paweł Ciepliński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2018

The communication process in the maritime water rescue system is one of the key factors affecting the final effect of the rescue operation. Emergency services encounter not only new threats, but also communication problems. Communication between individual rescuers and teams usually proceeds correctly and efficiently. The specific nature of their job bring some problems, which are most often caused by a high psychological burden and people from outside the rescue teams, which hinder the correct course of the rescue operation. The way in which the actions of water rescuers are carried out and what their effect is, depends to a large extent on the effective contact between individual rescuers and teams.

This paper acts as a presentation of 2006 research carried out on 1525 individuals (1383 male and 142 female) residing in 39 homeless shelters scattered around 13 provinces of the Republic of Poland. The main reason of homelessness turned out to be unemployment (571 individuals i.e. 37,44% of the whole). It was characteristic that 68,3% of women and 82,0% of men above the age of 40 were not only homeless but also unemployed. In fact, it was proved that the elderly, who had been made redundant in the past, found it more difficult to find a proper job. The research also showed that the unemployment and homelessness act as factors restraining people from getting married and setting up families (34,69%) as well as the reason for marital failure.

Rzeczywistość prawna i społeczna w kontekście realizacji paradygmatu normalizacji życia osób z niepełnosprawnością

Author(s): Joanna Konarska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2020

In modern times, disability has become not only a medical and psychological problem, but also a social one. More and more people in the world are becoming people with disabilities. This state of affairs requires care for the rights of persons with disabilities in the same way as for the rights of every human being. Unfortunately, simply establishing the law is not enough to normalize the lives of people with disabilities. Changes in social attitudes are necessary because they are conditioned by prejudices and, above all, by the lack of reliable knowledge. The normalization of life of people with disabilities is based on the assumption of full participation in all life trends. However, the law does not guarantee changes in the human mentality. Therefore, a joint effort of specialists of different disciplines and the good will of all people is needed to normalize the situation of people with disabilities.

KOORDINISANA BRIGA O ZAVISNICIMA OD ALKOHOLA KROZ IZRADU NOVOG ZAKONA KOJI PRUŽA MOGUĆNOST ZA BOLJU PREVENCIJU NASILJA

Author(s): Nera Zivlak Radulović / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 9/2024

The reform processes within the healthcare system of the Republic of Srpska that began in the nineties of the last century created a more advanced and accessible system of providing mental health care services. At the primary level of health care, the Community Mental Health Center is the main provider of outpatient care and protection providing also comprehensive changes in mental health within local self-government units. Currently, 27 of these centers are registered in the Republic of Srpska, which are all part of the coordinated service of health centers, having good geographical position in terms of spatial distribution. A certain number of persons with mental health disorders (addicts to alcohol and other psychoactive substances) in the process of treatment require treatment in hospital conditions (clinic, hospital, institute). In accordance with the adopted positive reform solutions, it is expected that after rehabilitation and improvement of the clinical picture, the initiated hospital treatment will continue throughout competent Centers, with the involvement of other community partners. All participants involved in the treatment process together should enable continuity of care for persons with mental health disorders. The model of joint planning for the discharge of persons with mental health disorders from the hospital is an important step in the process of ensuring the continuity of mental healthcare in the community. The model is obligatory for health institutions according to the Law on Mental Health Protection of the Republic of Srpska from 2020, Article 42. The process of treating alcohol addicts has always included coordinated care through clubs of treated alcohol addicts. In the clubs, the progress of the addiction treatment was continuously assessed, and families were an indispensable part of the treatment. For the past 17years, the Club of treated alcohol addicts in Banja Luka has been a good example of coordinated care building both intersectoral and intra sectoral connections. The inclusion of coordinated care and joint discharge planning in the Law is only a confirmation of the great role of the clubs. Maintaining abstinence in the local community through participation in a support group is a significant factor in the prevention of violence.

Author(s): Nicol Sosada,Agnieszka Mierzwa,Magdalena Syrkiewicz-Świtała / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2023

The new geopolitical situation connected Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has put the Polish healthcare system in front of a huge challenge and the necessity to quickly take and implement strategic decisions aimed at providing the best possible healthcare for refugees without harming the Polish society. Objective: The main objective of the article is to present selected challenges of public health resulting from the infl ux of refugees to Poland. Materials and methods: the research part used a review of the current Polish literature containing information on the infl ux of refugees to Poland, Google Scholar, and PubMed scientifi c databases, as well as statistical data from the Central Statistical Offi ce (CSO). Results: public health, despite many diffi culties related to the lack of medical documentation, the threat to the health security of the Polish population, the excessive burden on the state budget, and problems with the implementation of Ukrainian specialists, developed and consistently implemented health strategies with the involvement of private health care. The reforms implemented by the Polish government, aimed at adapting to the new reality, have contributed to the provision of the necessary and specialized health services for refugees, without adversely aff ecting access to medical care for Polish citizens. Conclusions: The changes introduced by the Polish government, which contributed to the adaptation of the healthcare system to new challenges, such as providing support to refugees, were analyzed. The results of the analysis show that these modifi cations made it possible to provide the necessary and specialized health services for this group, without aff ecting the accessibility of healthcare for Polish citizens. The study suggests that such an approach can provide an eff ective model for adapting to contemporary migration challenges while meeting the needs of refugees and ensuring access to healthcare for the local community

Náhradní výživné jako nedostupná dávka? (Emoční) bariéry jejího čerpání z perspektivy mladých dospělých dětí

Author(s): Eva M. Hejzlarová,Monika Churá / Language(s): Czech Issue: 1/2024

The paper focuses on whether or not compensatory child alimony, which comprises a relatively new Czech social policy benefit, fulfils its function from the perspective of young adults, i.e. adult “dependent” children in the education system who are entitled to alimony but do not receive it (regularly). Theoretically, the study draws on the political sociology of emotions, the concept of special money introduced by Zelizer and the concept of invisible stakeholders, while empirically it draws on unique data from the Czech court system on the development of the number of related enforcement orders between 2018 and 2022 and on the analysis of seven semi-structured interviews. The study concludes that although legislation considers adult dependent children as full actors, their experiences of alimony and the perception thereof present barriers in terms of young adults applying for the benefit, as does their relationships with their loved ones. Although this benefit has helped many families, it is unlikely to be a major gamechanger for young adults.

Self-efficacy and conscientiousness in caregivers of the mentally challenged: a randomized controlled trial

Self-efficacy and conscientiousness in caregivers of the mentally challenged: a randomized controlled trial

Author(s): Aikaterini Koutrouki / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2021

Little research has evaluated the obstacles and challenges that complicate the daily life of mentally challenged individuals and their caregivers. The involvement in the provision of care for the mentally challenged constitutes a lifetime commitment for their family members that form the main core of care, compelling them both to experience most of the health-care inequalities in comparison with the rest of the general population. Self-efficacy and conscientiousness consist two behavioral signatures/personality traits that guarantee the uncompromising enthusiasm and undivided commitment in circumstances that are defined as specifically difficult and demanding, enabling caregivers to adopt in the given conditions. The results of the survey indicate that the involvement in the provision of care for the mentally challenged (N=81) is not random and doesn’t depend on the score of the Intelligence Scale, but is in fact the result of a conscious selection, a mental commitment, whose success is ensured by the perception of self-efficacy and conscientiousness, that are statistically significant and at the same time bidirectional. Furthermore, the survey also indicates that caregivers who chose willingly to take care of the mentally challenged, have a statistically significant higher self-efficacy perception.

People with joint disease are prone to other diseases, such as osteoporosis. Their care can be considered as part of the general integrated approach by providing health, social, educational, etc. services. We conducted a polymorbidity study of 26 patients with joint diseases in a specialized rheumatology practice, Stara Zagora. Along with the assessment of concomitant chronic diseases such as cardiovascular risk, depression, etc., the FRAX tool was applied to identify fracture risk by a trained nurse. The results of the scientific study show that the use of FRAX successfully complements the methodology of a comprehensive clinical assessment carried out by a nurse independently.
