The internet harbors communities of varied interests, some of which are marginalized and not well understood by the mainstream. One such example are individuals suffering from dysfunctional eating behavior and eating disorders. This study traces their online communities, their attempts to assert their self- and group-identity, and showcases how despite their efforts, they are persecuted in the online world and stigmatized by society.

Author(s): Galina Fesun,Tetiana Kanivets / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2018

At the present stage of the development of society the problem of the syndrome of emotional burnout of teachers is particularly relevant, since the stress is manifested especially in pedagogical activities, due to its saturation with such stressors as: responsibility for the development of the younger generation, active interpersonal interaction, increased emotional tension, inadequate social assessment, etc. One of the worst consequences of longterm professional stress is the “burnout” syndrome. This raises the need to consider hidden mechanisms of professional activity that can lead to the fact that professionals cease to cope with their responsibilities, lose their creative mood over the subject and product of their work.

Author(s): Marina Safonova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2012

In the article results of studying of social representations of Russians about the lonely person are considered. The loneliness in the modern world has ceased to be for a long time a problem of the separate person, for the specific reasons not managed to adapt for a society, to build emotional mutual relations satisfying it with associates. It has turned to a serious social problem. Efficiency of the psychological help to lonely people, constructions and realizations of programs on preventive maintenance of chronic loneliness is in many respects connected with the account of the developed social representations about loneliness and the lonely person. Difficulties in studying of a phenomenon of loneliness are somewhat connected with necessity to receive the information which mentions deep intimate layers of the person. On the one hand, work mechanisms of psychological protection. The respondent starts to have a feeling of alarm because of necessity to give answers about itself, with another – the tendency to social desirability is shown. For minimization of these displays in research the method of the projective composition was used. During the content-analysis of the text information received by a method of projective compositions, 13 semantic components have been allocated, each of which opens certain lines of an image of the lonely person. Psychological interpretation of the received data has allowed to describe some prototypes of the lonely person developing in representations of contemporaries. The urgency of the use of a category "prototype" is connected with specific features of a social reality: complexity, dynamism, variability, a polysemy of the signs used for a categorization. According to model of frequency of signs, the prototype reflects most often meeting signs, accordingly, the prototype is acquired through fixing of the repeating elements inherent in an object, or a situation. The analysis of representations of respondents about the lonely person allows to allocate some developing prototypes: "careerist", «a lonely wolf», "homebody", " the unsocial person".

Among the protective factors that lower suicide probability are proper treatment of mental illness and substance abuse, good social support, favorable socio-economic conditions, religious and cultural beliefs which do not accept suicide as an option in solving problems, adequate representation of suicides in the media, as well as restricted access to means of suicide. The analysis of statistical data about suicides in Serbia in the second half of the 20th century, especially during the 2000s, encompasses the most significant trends in number of suicides as well as differences by sex and age. Special attention is paid to regional differences and, in connection with that, differences according to ethnic affiliation.

Author(s): Petro Vasilovich Kvitkin,Iryna Volodymyrivna Dyatlova,I. M. Rebrii / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 1/2017

Threats and challenges of the modern world put forward ever increasing demands as to a military professional’s individuality, his/her occupational, moral and psychological qualities. In this context the problem of a military professional’s social responsibility is of particular importance. In order to resolve it the essence of social responsibility is to be determined. The issue of servicepersons’ social responsibility has been highlighted in a number of works by both Ukrainian and foreign researchers. In particular, O. Petrov, S. Karpukhin, Yu. Chernavin, Ye. Kireev, O. Glasunov and some others initiated its scientific foregrounding, singled out some important aspects and ways of their further investigation. At the same time, the question of the essence of the social responsibility of a military professional’s individuality still remains unresolved. The initial point for the analysis of the essence of the social responsibility of a military professional’s individuality lies in understanding it as a specific manifestation of the social responsibility of social subjects which reflects its ontological traits and particularities. However, it’s necessary to state that among the scientists there is no mutual understanding as to the essence of the social responsibility of social subjects. The main difficulty here lies in understanding the essence and the meaning of the notions of «responsibility», «social responsibility» and «social subject’s social responsibility». According to this, the analysis of servicepersons’ social responsibility first of all requires the clarification of these notions by determining their categorical status. From the standpoint of hermeneutics methodology the introduction of the notion of social responsibility came as a logical consequence of scientific investigation of the problem of responsibility in general. Thus, it was initiated by the fact that responsibility cannot be reduced to social sanctions and mutual demands alone. Social responsibility is the way of social existence, and of relations among social subjects (people, social and sociopolitical institutions). In this respect it does not equal responsibility as a sum of certain sanctions but has its own meaning. The meaning of social responsibility reflects two aspects of cooperation among social subjects: the character of social subject’s fulfillment of its destination and duties; social sanctions applied against social subject by society for social consequences of its activity or inactivity.

Introduction. The article deals with the problem of students' self-disclosure in the process of higher education. The purpose of the study is to compare the peculiarities of self-disclosure of full-time and part-time students, manifested in the educational process of the university.Materials and Methods. The methodological basis of the study included the works of Russian and foreign authors on the importance of self-disclosure of personality, its characteristics and fulfillment (I. P. Shkuratova, G. J. Chelune, etc.). The research methods included theoretical analysis and generalization of modern Russian and international studies on self-disclosure of personality. The empirical study was conducted using the self-disclosure diagnostic technique (I. P. Shkuratova). The sample consisted of 203 respondents.Results. The theoretical analysis of studies devoted to the problem of self-disclosure revealed its external and internal features. At the same time, modern students tend to express themselves both in direct interaction and using digital technologies (e.g., social networks). Direct and technically mediated interactions are the environments of students’ self-disclosure. The authors analyzed the categories and motives of self-disclosure of full-time and part-time students. The comparative analysis of data obtained during the empirical research revealed both similarities and differences. The similarities include the following: firstly, the desire to discuss interests, inclinations, and express opinions. Secondly, the most frequent motive of self-disclosure is the interest in the partner of communication. The first difference is that the desire to discuss financial issues is highly significant for full-time students, on the other hand, the disclosure of information about their jobs and various difficulties are important for part-time students. The second difference concerns the motives for self-disclosure. Full-time students report practical motives for self-disclosure. Emotional and moral motives and motives of self-presentation are more important for part-time students. The third difference showed the unwillingness of full-time students to discuss study issues, and it concerns the financial side of life for part-time students.Conclusions. The authors conclude that self-disclosure of full-time and part-time students has similarities and differences. Taking into account the characteristics of students’ self-disclosure and providing opportunities for its fulfillment in the process of higher education contribute to the formation of students’ professional identity and commitment, and enhance their professional development.
