Kako studenti rješavaju svoje konflikte?

Kako studenti rješavaju svoje konflikte?

Author(s): Iko Skoko / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 20/2015

Veliki stresovi, nezaposlenost i nepravedno siromaštvo pridonose povećanju svakodnevnih konflikata.

Społeczny pesymizm w prozie Romana Sienczina

Społeczny pesymizm w prozie Romana Sienczina

Author(s): Katarzyna Roman-Rawska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 25/2015

The paper is an introduction to the problems of the contemporary works of a Russian writer Roman Senchin (born 1971). The author is considered to be a representative of the new realism current and his prose is a paradigmatic example of socially-oriented literature. Due to the sociological perspective, the article exposes social and political aspects of his work, but less attention has been paid to poetics as such. However, the psychological and existential aspect of Senchin’s work was also stressed. Furthermore, an attempt was made to resolve the dilemma, whether in relation to Senchin’s works it is relevant to use such theoretical concepts as politics of literature and politics in the literature.

INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE GOVERNMENT’S REMEMBRANCE POLICY

INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND ATTITUDES TOWARDS THE GOVERNMENT’S REMEMBRANCE POLICY

Author(s): Patryk Wawrzyński,Marek A. Muszyński,Gabriela Czarnek,Ralph Schattkowsky / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2015

The paper presents results of the experimental study on the government’s remembrance policy, attitudes towards it, and the influence of remembrance narratives. It discusses individual differences of participants on three different grounds: (1) interest in history or politics, and level of historical knowledge, (2) features of cognitive motivation measured by the need for closure questionnaire: preference of order, desire for predictability, discomfort with ambiguity, closed mindedness and decisiveness, and (3) response to the presented narrative, including inspired emotions and an assessment of a story. Collected data and research observations offer an interesting and valuable insight into relationships between various factors and citizen’s support for the remembrance policy. They also lead the team to formulate three conclusions which may be used to develop theoretical understandings of this aspect of politics within political science and related disciplines.

O zazdrości (nie tylko) seksualnej w dobie Internetu

Author(s): Olga Stempin / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2015

W świetle przedstawionych wyników warto jest dokonać oceny korzyści z korzystania z portali społecznościowych.Słowa kluczowe: zazdrość, psychologia, bliskie związki The aim of this article is to present jealousy in perspective of ubiquitous Internet. Little is known of jealousy in today’s emotional psychology. Its experience differs across sex and sexual orientation of the subject. Although it has been known for centuries, some new patterns have been presently noticed due to the commonness of jealousy-provoking stimuli in social media. Regarding this results, it may be wise to consider the benefits of using social media.

Płeć i pochodzenie a stosunek do wyrażania czułych słów w bliskich związkach

Author(s): Wojciech Oronowicz,Julia Pleszka,Joanna Nerko,Bettina Begner / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2016

Romantic partners tend to use tender words, which have a special meaning for them. This fact is well-known to the researchers, however, the influence of the sex and the country of origin on the use of tender words in close relationships has not been studied so far. Comparison between groups of 66 Poles and 32 German men and women has been performed. Our goal was to analyze the attitude of the participants towards the use of tender words in close relationship. Our results revealed many differences between the groups, which leads to a supposition that there are differences in the role of tender words in close relationships among different cultures.

Percepţia vedetei de televiziune în spaţiul mediatic românesc la preadolescenţi, adolescenţi şi tineri

Author(s): Elena-Lidia Dinu (Stan) / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 03/2014

A second outcome of my thesis is the study of the Television star perception in the Romanian media field among pre-teens, teens, and youth. I made a qualitative-comparative study, starting from the semi-directive interview technique, created to explore the way of thinking of three different groups: pre-teens, teens, and young (a total of 75 participants, of whom 31 were male and 44 were female). The article investigates media consumerism, the appearance of the new customers being related to their adaptation to new lifestyles and values. The media consumption becomes a way of building an intelligible universe where the social relations can be maintained or replaced. Hence, the research has explored the perceived differences among three different groups regarding Romanian star system as well as the opinion convergence levels, making it possible to understand the experience lived by these people. In this study, documents, questions for interviews, and explanatory statement to participants are included. This complex analysis is also supported by a comprehensive bibliography and at the same time representative. Unfortunately, the psychologists are concerned with the level of dependency of different types of media consumption (television, Internet, video games), pointing to overconsumption. The conclusions of the research shine a new light on the mixing the right to information and the showbiz sensationalism can destroy public confidence in journalism and discredit the profession.

PERCEPCIJA PORODIČNIH ODNOSA I AKADEMSKO POSTIGNUĆE ADOLESCENATA

Author(s): Anela Hasanagić,Mersiha Jusić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 66/2016

Academic achievement, due to its practical implications, is in focus of a great number of research works. Those are generally pointing to its connection to many factors and they reveal prospects of analysing these connections on various levels: personal, interpersonal and general. The main aim of this study however, is to observe the impact of a number of specific aspects of parents behaviour (emotionality and control) upon the academic achievement of adolescents operationalised through their average grades in school. The article also analyses the impact of socio-demographic variables along with perceived behaviour of parents upon academic achievement. A sample for the research analysis was comprised of 272 high-school students (166 of those being female), average age 17. Statistically significant negative correlation was recorded between the level of control and academic achievement. Thus, it shows that higher the controlling behaviour of parents lower the academic achievement of a student. However, no statistically significant connection was recorded between the level of emotionality of parents and academic achievement of students. Female adolescents participating in extracurricular activities have reported greater emotionality level in their fathers as compared to their peers who are not engaged in any extracurricular activities. Of socio-demographic variables only socio-economic status was recorded as having statistically significant positive impact upon academic achievement. Generally, students reported of more time spent in talking to mothers as compared to time spent in talking to fathers. Mothers were also perceived as more emotional and more controlling as compared to fathers. The last can be viewed as an indicator of traditional higher involvement of mothers in upbringing of children.

Zdravstvena ponašanja na radnom mjestu: apsentizam, prezentizam i profesionalno izgaranje

Author(s): Katarina Jelić,Jelena Maričić / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 7/2023

This paper provides an overview of the theories and models that explain the interdependence of individual and environmental factors in predicting burnout and negative organisational behaviour. Contemporary researchers predominantly emphasise the role of factors at the organisational level, group processes within the work collective and the broader social context (in sociological terms, mentality). We emphasise personal (socio-demographic, dispositional and socio-cognitive) factors, primarily focusing on the ones we are able to control. The introductory part describes the burnout syndrome and the two dominant forms of negative organisational behaviours - absenteeism and presenteeism. After that, an overview of the most commonly used models for interpreting health risk behaviour is provided. The third part focuses on an overview of risk and protective factors that have been consistently confirmed to be able to successfully predict the variance of the phenomena above, as well as a summary of research conclusions on risky health behaviours in the context of professional burnout and negative organisational behaviour. The final considerations bring suggestions of possible interventions and prevention strategies aimed at protecting mental health and well-being.

Author(s): Elma Omersoftić,Sibela Zvizdić Meco / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2020

Exposure to the community violence (at school and in neighborhood) as a perpetrator can leave negative and long term consequences for direct victims, witnesses and perpetrators, but also for all local community. Therefore, the goal of this research was was to inquire relationship between some determinants (gender, aggressiveness, depressive reactions, self-esteem, parental control, perceived social support from family, peers and teachers) from one side and early adolescent’s violence exposure as a perpetrator in school and neighborhood on the other side. It was anticipated that significant predictors of perpetrated community violence (at school and in the neighborhood) would be male gender, higher level of aggressiveness and depressive reactions, lower level of self-esteem, lower level of parental control, lower level of perceived social support from family, peers and teachers. Next instruments were applied on a sample of 300 younger adolescents (160 girls and 138 boys, two participants who did not specify their gender), average age 12.97 (SD=1.17): Scale of aggression; Birleson’s depression scale; Rosenberg’s Self-esteem Scale; Parental control scale; Scale of perceived social support; Victimization Scale from which was used a Scale of exposure to violence in school as a perpetrator and a Scale of exposure to violence in the neighborhood as a perpetrator. According to the results of the logistic regression analysis it was established that the regression model explains 28,3% of the variance criteria of community violence exposure as a perpetrator of violence at school and the omnibus test model is statistically significant. Moreover, at the basis of second logistic regression analysis, it was established that regression model explains 15,7% of the variance criteria of community violence exposure as a perpetrator of violence in the neighborhood, and the omnibus test model is statistically significant. Predictor variable which has the highest and greatest contribution in prediction of perpetrated violence at school and neighborhood is aggressiveness. Responsibility of the local community refers to possibility of identification and early recognition of the determinants of younger adolescents’s perpetration of violence at school and neighborhood and possibility of implication of revealed results of the research with the aim of planning and realization of long term interventions which would be directed to prevention of community violence and improvement of student’s mental health and their development into socially, emotionally mature and stable adult persons.

Izvori i značaj socijalne podrške tokom trudnoće

Izvori i značaj socijalne podrške tokom trudnoće

Author(s): Erna Čizmo,Amela Dautbegović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2020

Social support refers to various aspects of social relations, therefore it includes mechanisms that can protect the individual from the negative effects of stress. Social support and social relations are considered important because they contribute to improving the quality of health. The results of the research indicate that the mother’s health condition, as well as the level of symptoms of depression and anxiety, and the successful adjustment to parenthood are associated with a higher level of social support during pregnancy. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of knowledge about social support and its role and importance during pregnancy, and to examine the perceived social support by close people among pregnant women in the Sarajevo Canton. The study, which was conducted in May 2019, involved 94 pregnant women (N = 94) in the Sarajevo Canton. In order to obtain information on how pregnant women in the Sarajevo Canton perceive social support, the Perceived Social Support Questionnaire was applied, and data on individual socio-demographic characteristics were collected. Qualitative analysis of the collected data yielded results that indicate that pregnant women in the Sarajevo Canton often have at their disposal various forms of social support from close people in their environment. Ultimately, it is of the most importance for pregnant women to have people who will encourage them during the stressful period of pregnancy. The practical implications of the work are primarily related to the possibilities of planning and implementing preventive activities aimed at improving the quality of mental and physical health of pregnant women.

Poremećaji u ponašanju: faktori rizika iz školskog konteksta

Author(s): Selma Kulo,Sibela Zvizdić Meco / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 6/2020

Children’s behavior is the result of a dynamic relationship that exists between the personal characteristics of the child and his environment, which is interwoven with the action of many risk and protective factors. Thanks to a large number of empirical papers to date, a significant number of risk factors for the development of conduct disorders in childhood and adolescence have been identified. As the number of risk factors increases in the individual, family and school context, unfortunately, the likelihood of developing a disorder in a child also increases. In order to plan preventive and early intervention activities, both in school and in the wider community, special attention needs to be paid to identifying and understanding risk factors from the school context (for example, poor academic performance, peer rejection, inadequate school climate, poorly developed academic skills of students, etc.) with simultaneous knowledge and strengthening of protection factors. It seems that in our society, schools are not yet recognized as a relevant link in the system of prevention of conduct disorders, and therefore we need more papers which research the relationship between components of the school system and problems in student behavior. In this paper, we have tried to give a review of the existing risk factors from the school context responsible for the development of conduct disorders in childhood and youth.

“We ourselves proudly chose death.” The Concept of Heroic Partisan Suicide in Slovenia in the Yugoslav Context

“We ourselves proudly chose death.” The Concept of Heroic Partisan Suicide in Slovenia in the Yugoslav Context

Author(s): Ivan Smiljanić / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2024

The article focuses on the concept of heroic suicide among Yugoslav and especially Slovenian partisans during the Second World War. Partisan command expected fighters to commit suicide in extreme circumstances to avoid ignominious capture, torture and potential treason. After the war, partisan suicides were formally recognized as a heroic act of the highest self-sacrifice, but at the same time they also represented a grey area of Yugoslav memory of the war because they raised challenging moral questions, such as the inadmissibility of suicide from the point of view of Marxist ethics. Opinions expressed in the Yugoslav professional and lay public about the partisan heroic suicides were diverse. Attitudes towards suicide were different in different parts of the country, supposedly depending on the traditional perceptions of death and suicide held by regional or local communities.

Graduate employability as a key metric for evaluating higher education efficiency

Author(s): Marius Drugaș,Alexandru Tiba / Language(s): English Issue: 33-34/2024

Graduate employability is increasingly recognized as a critical indicator of higher education institutions (HEIs) efficiency. Employability, encompassing the skills, knowledge, and attributes that enable graduates to secure and thrive in meaningful employment, serves as a tangible outcome of educational investment. This paper examines the existing research, highlighting the theoretical frameworks, empirical studies, and methodological considerations surrounding graduate employability assessment. Furthermore, it incorporates data and perspectives from the Romanian higher education context, which faces specific challenges and opportunities in enhancing graduate employability. Improving data collection on employability by the HEIs is critical, to ensure that reports to external evaluation agencies are correct. Despite efforts to enhance educational outcomes, Romania faces significant challenges, including lower higher education attainment and suboptimal graduate employment rates. Some potential strategies to improve graduate employability in Romania are briefly discussed, emphasizing the importance of aligning curricula with labor market demands, fostering industry collaborations, encouraging entrepreneurship, or enhancing career services inside universities.
