Genological characteristic of the "live" tv sports magazine from the communicative perspective

Genological characteristic of the "live" tv sports magazine from the communicative perspective

Charakterystyka genologiczna telewizyjnego magazynu sportowego „na żywo” w perspektywie komunikatywistycznej

Author(s): Rafał Siekiera / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: communicative grammar; linguistic genology; genre; speech act; generic script

In the monograph I propose a new method of conducting genological research. It refers to the communicative grammar developed in linguistics and offers a number of interesting possibilities. Its main advantage is that it is firmly embedded in the realities of communication, in which all statements function, no matter what genre they represent. A different approach to the genre itself allows researcher to avoid the problems of traditional genology, which has great difficulties in reconciling the rigid classification of genres with communication practice. The basis of communicative genology is the assumption that a genre is, in fact, a standard generic script, constituting an interpretative basis (such as semantic standards) in the process of receiving messages, and at the same time – a reference point in the procedure of formulating statements. Each text is an implementation of a specific script, and any deviations from it can be treated as non-isomorphism, which the recipient notices and then reduces it to a familiar, typical form in the process of interpretation. Hence, it is possible to create very diverse statements, ostensibly not representing one scenario. The application of the proposed research method includes recreating the standard generic script (including the circumstances of the speech, the order of occurrence of structural elements, scenario participants, conditions triggering the script, the result of the scenario) and studying the communication levels of the generic script (ideational, interactive and discourse organization).

Customer value management and experience marketing in cultural institutions. Activities of contemporary theatre and philharmonic

Zarządzanie wartością dla klienta a marketing doświadczeń w instytucjach kultury. Działania współczesnego teatru i filharmonii

Author(s): Wioletta Krawiec / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: customer value management; customer experience management; experience marketing; cultural institutions; theatres and philharmonics; research methodology and results; management models

The modern market (including culture) is an arena of dynamic changes related to the development of modern technologies and communication. Customers are more demanding and change their attitudes from passive to active. They become co-creators of the values and experiences offered to them. This phenomenon introduces cultural institutions active on the market into a process of continuous development. Their market success, on the other hand, is possible thanks to the combination of many management skills. Undoubtedly, these include the ability to manage value for the customer, or to manage their experience. The area defined above has been subject to empirical research among cultural participants (theatres and philharmonics) and managers responsible for marketing activities of cultural institutions. The main subject of this monograph is the concept of customer value management, which was analyzed through the prism of experiences marketing in the activities of cultural institutions in Poland (mainly theatres and philharmonics). The content presented in the book generally includes: - diagnosis of the stages of the theoretical model of value management and customer experience based on the analysis of the functioning of theatres and philharmonics in Poland;- comparative analysis of the consistency of the proposed values by theatres and philharmonics with the expectations of cultural participants; - to determine the impact of the marketing of experiences on the activities of theatres and philharmonic institutions and their reception by cultural participants. The book is addressed primarily to cultural managers, people employed in cultural institutions, cultural animators. Issues discussed in the monograph will also be useful for students or other people who are studying the knowledge of customer value management and marketing experiences in cultural institutions. This publication can also be used as a supplement to the material in the field of service marketing, marketing of non-profit organizations or marketing management in cultural institutions.

From the right-wing to the left-wing. The ideological structure of Polish political parties in 2015-2017

Od prawicy do lewicy. Struktura ideologiczna polskich partii politycznych w latach 2015–2017

Author(s): Anita Filipczak-Białkowska / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: right-wing;left-wing;ideology;The Law and Justice;discourse analysis;communicative grammar

The book “From the right-wing to the left-wing. The ideological structure of Polish political parties in 2015-2017” provides new content both in terms of methodological concepts and knowledge about the world. The research presented in it falls within the mainstream of critical discourse analysis and combines the linguistic perspective with the area of interest of other disciplines, especially communication science and political science. For the purposes of the research project presented in the study, an innovative research method was prepared, which enables the identification of ideological views manifested in the statements of a selected political entity (politician, political party). The operationalization of the notions of "right-wing" and "left-wing" as part of the project became the basis for the creation of a tool that allows to determine the left-wing or right-wing inclination of the studied subject, which is a novelty in the field of research conducted as part of critical discourse analysis. The tool was presented and discussed in the study. The monograph "From the right-wing to the left-wing" also provides new knowledge in the field of accompanying disciplines: it presents the ideological structure of Polish political parties represented in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland during the rule of Beata Szydło in 2015-2017. Establishing this structure allowed to verify the truth of the statement present in the English-language literature on the subject, according to which political parties operating in post-communist countries of Eastern Europe are characterized by a crossroads of views: left-wing ideological ideas are combined with right-wing views on economic issues. The research carried out with the use of the prepared method made it possible to determine whether this statement is adequate to the current situation in the Polish party system of the analyzed period.

The Mutations of an Apocryphon

The Mutations of an Apocryphon

Mutacje apokryfu

Author(s): Danuta Szajnert / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: apocrypha;apocryphicity;canon;revising;revriting

The book addresses the issues of the literary apocryphon, i.e. transgeneric, polymorphic literary form with special critical potential, based on specific intertextual relations, more strongly than others in-volving such categories as canon and authenticity (differently under-stood), as well as value and source. Biblical apocrypha are considered to be the genological intertext of this form. In the first chapter I pre-sent various modern uses of the term “apocryphon” and I emphasize the relation to the variously understood canon, which is crucial for any apocryphal text. Also I propose my own understanding of apocryphici-ty and I distinguish between its three basic forms. In the second and third chapter I focus on what perhaps most strongly stimulates the in-vention of the creators of the literary apocrypha in the 20th and 21st centuries. It is a disagreement with the axiological and worldview en-tanglements of canonical, but not only biblical pre-texts anymore: the possibility of revising the literary canon. The fourth chapter deals with fictional autobiographies assigned by the authors to well-known real characters. The role of canonical pre-texts in these apocryphal, al-leged autobiographies is played by non-fictional texts: biographies and other documentary sources. Here, too, I pay special attention to the potential of this type of literary apocrypha, which is subversive to the images consolidated in official utterances.

History as a instrument of polemics in the writings of Piotr Skarga. Analecta Literackie i Językowe XV

History as a instrument of polemics in the writings of Piotr Skarga. Analecta Literackie i Językowe XV

Historia jako narzędzie polemiki w piśmiennictwie Piotra Skargi. Analecta Literackie i Językowe XV

Author(s): Dawid Szymczak / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: Old-Polish literature;Counter-Reformation;history of Church, Jesuits;philosophy of history;theory of history

The aim of the book is analysis of the problem of history in the writings of one of the most well-known Polish Jesuits – Piotr Skarga (1536–1612). His extensive literary work contained numerous references to the history of the Church. Skarga consciously drew on the tradition of understanding history and literary conventions in the 16th century. Thus, the Jesuit took a predefined position on history – its scope, function and role. For Skarga, in fact, history was the second foundation, apart from Catholic teaching, for the expression of a relatively coherent and uniform vision of the world. The subject of the analysis are works from the entire almost forty-year period of the Jesuit's literary activity. The scope of the discussion includes both polemics with representatives of Eastern Christianity and dissenters, as well as sermons, motives, prayers and the popular Lives of Saints. The analysis is complemented by a chapter on the importance of rhetoric in creating a vision of history.Piotr Skarga consciously used the rules and assumptions of the ancient art of speech, as well as referred to the postulates of the 16th-century theologians. Their findings allowed him to treat each historical account as a story subject to persuasion.Detailed analysis proved that all the most important problems of the old Polish historical thought are captured in the works of Piotr Skarga. This proves the special position that history occupied in the writings of the royal preacher. It was not limited to a number of auxiliary evocations, devoid of original content due to unilateral and uncritical use but was a well-thought-out, complex and multi-faceted tool for achieving the basic goals on the way to transforming Polish society in the spirit of the post-Tridentine religiosity.

Influencer marketing in the age of new media

Influencer marketing w dobie nowych mediów

Author(s): Kinga Stopczyńska / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: influencer marketing; influencer; new media; social media; Facebook; Instagram; TikTok; marketing communication; innovations; new client

Social media took over not only the leisure time of their users, but also the communication budgets of companies that fit perfectly in their space. They have also become excellent platforms for the development of Influencer Marketing, and the Influencer people themselves grow up to the level of stars in them. Their extraordinary potential could not escape the brand owners for whom Influencers become every day very unique ambassadors, advocates, and in many cases their spokesmen. Influencer marketing is currently one of the most creative communication tools, which, combined with new media, creates an extraordinary value in the eyes of potential and current customers, the originality of which inspires, motivates and creates very specific purchasing activities. It is worth emphasizing that Influencer marketing seems to be unfamiliar with age limits, perfectly managing both the youngest and the oldest groups of its recipients, giving the latter a chance for previously unknown experiences.

Witold Gombrowicz. I!

Witold Gombrowicz. Ja!

Author(s): Józef Olejniczak / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: Gombrowicz; biography; subject; autobiography; subjectivity

Witold Gombrowicz's biography covers four periods: 1. Childhood, youth and reaching a literary debut; 2. Debut (Pamiętnik z okresu dojrzewania, Ferdydurke, Iwona, księżniczka Burgunda) in interwar Warsaw; 3. Departure and emigrate to Argentina (Buenos Aires), where the novels were written Trans-Atlantyk, Pornografia i Kosmos (completed after returning to Europe), dramas Ślub, Operetka i Historia (finished after returning to Europe), (the last one was written in Argentina and despite attempts it was not finished, and the Operetka was started by Gombrowicz in Buenos Aires and finished in France) and Dziennik and Kronos; 4. The period after his return to Europe, first in West Berlin, as a consequence of the Ford Foundation scholarship, and later in France (Paris, Royaumont, Vence ‒ here Gombrowicz finished Kosmos, continued his work on the Dziennik, wrote a Testament and essays-talks Wspomnienia polskie and Wędrówki po Argentynie). The author focuses on the issues related to the literary subject and the discourse of Polishness inscribed in Gombrowicz's work. He adopted the order of the biography in which the author of Ferdydurke wrote his „traces of presence”, which is not an obvious order, because the order of the writer's biography was consciously violated in his work and burdened - also intentional - anachronism related to the space-time space of Pornografia and, in a sense, the Ślub . Witold Gombrowicz. I! It clearly refers to earlier ‒ scientific and fictional ‒ studies of Gombrowicz's biography, written by Jerzy Jarzębski and Klementyna Suchanow.

Khadijah and Her Black-Eyed Sisters. The Image of Middle Eastern Women from the Era of the Birth of Islam in the Medieval Literature of the Byzantine-Slavic Circle

Chadidża i jej czarnookie siostry. Obraz kobiet bliskowschodnich z epoki narodzin islamu w średniowiecznej literaturze kręgu bizantyńsko-słowiańskiego

Author(s): Zofia A. Brzozowska / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: Church Slavic literature;Old Rus’ literature;Byzantine literature;Arabs, Islam;women’s history

The monograph aims to show literary images of Arab and Persian women from the 4th–8th centuries in the Old Rus’ writings from the 11th–16th century. In the first three chapters, the reader will find a discussion of the image of women living in the Middle East in the pre-Muslim era: women who were part of the Sassanid Persian Empire, but, above all, members of various Arab tribes, which in the discussed period were at different stages of social and civilizational development. The fourth chapter is devoted to the first Muslim women, that is, the wives and daughters of the Prophet Muhammad, and the fifth, to Arab women from the era of the military expansion of the followers of Islam in the Mediterranean, where they came under the rule of the Umayyad dynasty (661–750).The research material consists of texts written several centuries after the events described in them and in a culturally different area, that is, in the environment of the Slavs who, having adopted Christianity in the Eastern rite, came under the direct influence of the Byzantine civilization (Bulgarians, Serbs, and the Rus’). In the 9th century, they started translating into Old Church Slavic language works that had been written in Greek on the territory of the Eastern Roman Empire. This gave them the opportunity to get acquainted with various sources containing information about the peoples inhabiting the territory of the Middle East in the 4th–8th centuries, some of which were even translations or paraphrases of earlier Syrian, Arabic, Persian, or Coptic sources.

Zofia Kossak-Szczucka. The Service

Zofia Kossak-Szczucka. Służba

Author(s): Dariusz Kulesza / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: Zofia Kossak;Polish concentration camp literature;Polish Christian literature;Literature of the People’s Republic of Poland;Historical novel

Zofia Kossak defined herself as a Catholic writer. In her opinion, Catholicism was the most effective in saving the temporal world. She also identified with literature that was in service of this salvation. The Catholic writing of Kossak was determined by family, Poland, and faith. The family was the centre of the world, where the writer experienced the initiation in life and history (The Blaze). Zofia Kossak described family in terms of what holds it together and saves (Ku swoim, Towards one’s own). In the last years of her life, she recognised family as a community that creates and is created by history (Dziedzictwo, The Heritage). Poland was described by Kossak as a land that had been heroically recovered, that was national and permanent. This also applied to regions, particularly Silesia (Nieznany kraj, The Unknown Land). However, the most important was Poland that was martyrologically (co)experienced, the country of war and occupation, concentration camps (Z otchłani, From the Abyss), Poland that was raised by her (Protest!). However, nothing was as valuable in the life and works of Zofia Kossak as faith. It was described by her starting from various forms of blessed madness (Szaleńcy Boży, The Madmen of God) through the uncompromising historical and historiosophical verification (Angels in the Dust) to existential source of Abraham’s truth (The Covenant). When looking for the position to place Kossak in Polish literature, the easiest way is to start with her historical novels that bring such antithetic contexts as the works of Sienkiewicz and Parnicki. Yet none of her texts, even those that were referenced and discussed here should be read without a confrontation with Christian literature, determined by such names as Kochanowski, Sęp-Szarzyński, and Norwid.

Towards a Better Protection of Workplace Whistleblowers in the Visegrad Countries, France and Slovenia

Author(s): Dagmara Skupień / Language(s): English

Keywords: workplace whistleblowers; Visegrad Countries; France; Slovenia

This monograph is an outcome of research completed within the Visegrad Grant “Workplace Whistleblower Protection in the V4 Countries, France and Slovenia” – WhistlePro (2020–2021), financed from the International Visegrad Fund. The project aims to contribute to the improvement of the legal framework in the Visegrad countries concerning the protection of workplace whistleblowers and, indirectly, to the change of workers’ attitudes towards whistleblowing.Contributions prepared by legal experts from various countries and universities concern matters of universal importance such as freedom of expression relative to whistleblowing, personal scope of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive (2019/1937) or personal data protection. They also discuss the legal situation concerning whistleblower protection in the Visegrad countries, France and Slovenia and present recommendations for changes in the respective countries. The monograph culminates with a summary of proposals for the improvement of the legal situation of persons disclosing breaches of law in the work-related context.Given its topicality and in-depth analysis of legal problems related to adequate whistleblower protection, the book may be of interest to academics, practitioners, social partners, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and policy makers in the process of the EU Whistleblower Protection Directive transposition in Member States. A desirable state of consciousness. About pleasure as a final value

Godny pożądania stan świadomości. O przyjemności jako wartości ostatecznej

Author(s): Katarzyna de Lazari-Radek / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: hedonism; pleasure; well-being; value; ultimate good

The book covers and further develops an extensive discussion in analytical philosophy over the past 30 years, especially in Great Britain and the USA, around the topic of well-being, value and pleasure. The subject matter ensures that it will interest a broad audience, beyond academic circles. The basic thesis of the work is that the feeling of pleasure, understood as desirable consciousness, is a value in itself. Dr de Lazari-Radek provides a contemporary defense of hedonism, taking into account not only philosophical but also neuroscientific and psychological arguments. The book consists of two parts. In the first, the author discusses notions of good/ultimate good and well-being as well as two leading theories of well-being: desire-based theory and perfectionism. She presents a broad range of views held by contemporary philosophers such as Derek Parfit, Roger Crisp, Bernard Williams, Ruth Chang, Martha Nussbaum, and Thomas Hurka, while ultimately rejecting both theories. The second part is entirely devoted to defending hedonism, which involves offering a new definition of the concept of pleasure. A novel feature of the argument is the use of recent findings in psychological and neurobiological research, in addition to philosophical arguments. This is the first book in Poland devoted to a defense of hedonism as a theory of value, and one of very few dealing from a philosophical perspective with the issue of human well-being and what it is to live a good life.

The second one characterises social institutions and organizations supporting thedevelopment of children and their families; most of all, it discusses the operations of the Workers’ Society of Children’s Friends in Poland in 1919-1939. The third area of interest, in line with the title of the work, is the work of the Łódź Division of RTPD in 1923-1939. Effects of regulatory and fiscal burdens on the banking sector on bank lending before and during the COVID-19 pandemic

Efekty obciążeń regulacyjnych i fiskalnych sektora bankowego dla akcji kredytowej banków przed pandemią COVID-19 i w trakcie jej trwania

Author(s): Iwona Dorota Czechowska,Czesław Lipiński,Jacek Sikorski,Joanna Stawska,Wojciech Zatoń / Language(s): Polish

Keywords: fiscal burdens; banking sector regulations; loans; unsupported receivables; interest rates; capital adequacy; COVID-19

The publication is a monograph describing comprehensively the issue of regulatory and fiscal burdens on the banking sector and their consequences for the level of loans, in the time perspective before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is a compendium of knowledge in the field of broadly understood finance, about the nature and mechanisms of the functioning of external burdens on the banking sector and related problems. The authors attempt to present this type of regulation in the context of the security and financial stability of the banking system, as well as in a broader perspective of the financial system. They present the current (as of 2021) burden, paying attention to specific instruments of fiscal and regulatory policy. Using the econometric model, they operationalize the main objective of the study, which is to determine and analyze the impact of external burdens on the lending potential of the banking sector, as well as an attempt to identify base scenarios. Previous studies have rarely attempted to combine regulatory and fiscal requirements in the context of, among other things, an in-depth analysis of the requirements for NPL Non-Performing Loans. Monothematic publications focused on a narrow approach to this type of external load prevailed. The originality of this publication is the collection of information on regulatory and fiscal requirements for the banking sector, and especially the presentation of this issue during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is one of the first items that comprehensively address this type of issue. Its advantage is the multifaceted nature of the issues described.
