- Summary/Abstract:Nutrition can be regarded as a science that provides rules and guidelines for proper and healthy consumption of food. In hospitals it represents a major component for the patient’s wellbeing. Diets are essential in the treatment of certain diseases but there are situations when the cultural component of an individual’s upbringing, prevents him from benefiting from the necessary nutrients. This paper analyzes some cultural aspects of eating habits in different countries or nations and the way these influence health and education. In order to show support and to promote cultural awareness, clinicians must take into consideration certain food taboos and learn about culturally sensitive matters. This article emphasizes cultural eating patterns pertaining to different civilizations as well as some elements of linguistic creativity demonstrated when naming different traditional dishes.Keywordsfood; nutrition; linguistics; taboos; semantics.* “

- Summary/Abstract:British values encourage or at least allow keeping and celebrating the immigrants’ cultural specificity. Romanians represent one of the largest populations of immigrants in the UK, in spite of Brexit. Being a multi-cultural society, Great Britain promotes (at least in theory) an encouraging attitude towards preserving the cultural identity, including national language, of all the populations living here. Romanians seem different from other Eastern European immigrants; although they value traditions and customs, many parents show less interest towards passing on of the most important elements of cultural identity: language. For various reasons (which we suspect to be similar in other countries such as Spain and Italy) many Romanian children born in the United Kingdom, but also those who were born in Romania and moved here, speak little Romanian and, in some cases, no Romanian atall, in most social contexts. This paper aims at exploring how speakers of Romanian, children in particular, are supported, once they move to the United Kingdom, in order to integrate, and also the degree to which the British society allows and promotes preserving the young people’s native language and other cultural aspects. On the other hand, it also seeks to show the Romanian Government’s attempts to support literacy in Romanian in Great Britain. Maybe even more importantly, the paper is trying to highlight the interest and efforts made by Romanian parents living in the United Kingdom to keep the Romanian language and culture alive in their families. Beyond understanding the reasons for which there is not much interest in many cases, we support the necessity for linguistic and cultural skills to be built and reinforced in this generation of young people with Romanian roots, who risk losing an important part of their identity.

- Summary/Abstract:As it is easy to observe, the education system in Romania was and continues to be in search for solutions regarding the improvement of conditions and opportunities at all levels, but despite the efforts, access to education is still unequal and there are special challenges for children from low-income families, children from rural areas, disorganized families, children with special educational needs, children/youth with disabilities etc. For the negative impact to be as low as possible, plans are still being made, projects are being implemented to increase the continuous training of specialized education personnel as well as teaching staff to improve the education platform. In the context offered by the postgraduate course on this subject, organized by the Romanian Academy, in 2023, I carried out an analysis of the actual situation at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Humanities and Physical Education and Sports from "Vasile Goldiș" Western University of Arad and proposed some directions of action to improve the effective situation regarding inclusive education in the institution, in accordance with the guidelines offered by ARACIS, the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education.

- Summary/Abstract:The study is a significantly novel contribution to contemporary scientific landscape, as it presents an atypical situation for European higher education. If in most countries academic concerns generally consist of attracting students, finding proper funding, ensuring quality teaching and increasing the impact of scientific activity, an uncommon situation has occurred in Romania due to the obtrusion of the Orthodox Church on education. This paper refers to the ambiguities and potential interpretations of an administrative text issued and endorsed by the Church to be applied in the field of education. As it is claimed to be a normative text, the document investigated should be defined by precision and clarity, but it is not the case, as it leaves room for interpretation. University autonomy is violated, authority is annulled in the case of the deciding factor (ARACIS, the ‘Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education’) for the establishment/termination of studyprogrammes in Romanian higher education, decisions made by examination boards for obtaining academic positions are disregarded, restrictions are imposed on obtaining a promotion or the habilitation qualification, both of which should depend exclusively on candidates’ scientific and teaching activity, not on receiving the consent of a bishop who does not pertain to the university system.

- Summary/Abstract:The phenomenon of literary postmodernity is characterised by its ability to astonish through a unique and imaginative lens of interpretation. This approach embraces and incorporates an interdisciplinary framework of critical concepts and trends, hence enriching the overall interpretative framework. The exploration of various literary components becomes essential when considering the fundamental relationship between fiction and reality. Of particular importance are the characters, their intrinsic human nature, and the outstanding emotional complexity they possess. In the realm of narrative fiction, characters serve as intermediaries, bridging the gap between superficial appearances and underlying essence, between physical actions and inherent, instinctive categorizations, as well as between emotional or spiritual musings and genuine sentiments. Thus, the study of postmodern literature contributes to the sustainable evolution of humanity.

- Summary/Abstract:This paper examines the Cooperative Principle, formulated by H.P. Grice, as a powerful tool for language teaching. Educators can enhance students' pragmatic competence and overall communication skills by applying its four maxims—quantity, quality, relation, and manner. The study investigates how teaching the Cooperative Principle impacts learners' ability to understand and produce contextually appropriate language. Three main objectives guide the research: (1) evaluating the effectiveness of teaching the principle in improving learners' interpretation of implicit meanings, (2) exploring its role in fostering interactive classrooms, and (3) assessing learners' improvement in pragmatic skills through Cooperative Principle-based activities. A mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative proficiency tests and qualitative classroom analysis, is used. Participants from various language levels are included, with anticipated results showing improved comprehension of implied meanings and increased student engagement. The research aims to highlight the benefits of integrating the Cooperative Principle into language education.
