- Summary/Abstract:Times of turmoil and uncertainty, periods of world conflicts, fierce power struggles between the great powers, the emergence of revolutionary changes in entire societies, the emergence of systemic cracks within the existing world order, have always been observed by contemporaries with fear and suspicion before the unknowns that all such great challenges carried. On the other hand, such turmoil was simultaneously seen as a possibility that something could change for the better, that something new and more advanced could be discovered and adopted, which would fundamentally change the lives of states, societies and individuals. Today we are witnessing tectonic shifts that have led to the renewal of the rivalry between the great powers from the Cold War period. They are accompanied by growing chaos throughout the world, which indicates the possibility of change and the emergence of a new world order. Global political tendencies have thus led to a hot phase of a new Cold War with actors almost the same as in the past, where interventionism by the great powers is increasingly spreading, while bloc structures - political, economic and military - are gaining momentum in different parts of the world, inciting states and peoples against each other, all with the aim of one side preserving its privileged position, while the other seeks to challenge it in every way.

- Summary/Abstract:The paper analyzes the establishment of relations between Yugoslavia and Bulgaria at the end of the Second World War. In the first part of the text, a brief analysis of the relations between the communist parties of Yugoslavia and Bulgaria is given. Special attention was paid to the military and political prerequisites for cooperation. The geopolitical strategy of the Soviet Union reactivated the idea of a Balkan (South Slavic) Federation, so the fluctuations on this issue are dealt with in particular in the second part of the text. The weakening of these ideas led to more intensive work on bilateral cooperation, which was crowned by the establishment of diplomatic relations. This cooperation is analyzed in the last chapter. The paper is based on unpublished archival material stored in the archives in Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria, published sources, the press and relevant literature.

- Summary/Abstract:The change in the balance of power at the global level and the establishment of the communist regime decisively influenced the creation of new trade routes between Yugoslavia and abroad. Political circumstances dictated a reorientation to the new markets of the eastern half of the European continent. However, it soon became clear that political voluntarism and ideological determination were not weapons powerful enough to cancel the inherited economic ties with Central and Western Europe, therefore economic factors influenced new foreign policy and foreign trade turns. In this paper, based on archival sources, I will endeavour to show the changes in the directions of Yugoslav trade cooperation from East to West in the light of the intertwining of economic and political factors.

- Summary/Abstract:The paper presents an analysis of the insufficiently treated topic related to the relationship between the Yugoslav communists and the noncommunist (non-Stalinist, socialist and social democratic) left in Western Europe during the first half of the 1950s, a period when Yugoslavia made strong efforts to break out of its foreign policy isolation and seek its place in the international Cold War order. The relations of Yugoslav communists with the Western European non-communist left represented a complex ideological challenge within the overall cooperation of a socialist country like Yugoslavia with Western capitalist countries.

Furthermore, the decision to recognize the German Democratic Republic is placed against a wider background of Yugoslav nascent foreign political orientation.

- Summary/Abstract:Based on the earlier domestic and foreign studies, and primarily on the numerous documents collected from the both domestic and foreign archives, some of them used here for the very first time, this article aims to reconstruct the historical meaning and wider implications of Tito’s visit to India and Burma in 1954-1955. This visit triggered a true revolution in the Yugoslav foreign policy orientation, one that eventually directed Belgrade towards actively pursuing a policy of non-alignment, complemented by an intensive build-up of ties with nations in Asia and Africa.

- Summary/Abstract:The lightning war in the Middle East in 1967, the rapid defeat of the Arab countries and the dysfunctionality of the Non-Aligned Movement in terms of protecting its members from external aggression, and then the ineffectiveness of the movement in terms of helping the Arab world, as well as the Soviet intervention in Czechoslovakia in 1968, pointed to Yugoslav diplomacy that Soviet interventionism was established on the European political stage. Fearing for their own national security, the Yugoslav leadership opted for a policy of expanding the existing basis of foreign policy by strengthening the concept of European security and creating new partnerships in the Middle and Far East.
