Summary/Abstract: Based on the earlier domestic and foreign studies, and primarily on the numerous documents collected from the both domestic and foreign archives, some of them used here for the very first time, this article aims to reconstruct the historical meaning and wider implications of Tito’s visit to India and Burma in 1954-1955. This visit triggered a true revolution in the Yugoslav foreign policy orientation, one that eventually directed Belgrade towards actively pursuing a policy of non-alignment, complemented by an intensive build-up of ties with nations in Asia and Africa.
