Summary/Abstract: The lightning war in the Middle East in 1967, the rapid defeat of the Arab countries and the dysfunctionality of the Non-Aligned Movement in terms of protecting its members from external aggression, and then the ineffectiveness of the movement in terms of helping the Arab world, as well as the Soviet intervention in Czechoslovakia in 1968, pointed to Yugoslav diplomacy that Soviet interventionism was established on the European political stage. Fearing for their own national security, the Yugoslav leadership opted for a policy of expanding the existing basis of foreign policy by strengthening the concept of European security and creating new partnerships in the Middle and Far East.
