Summary/Abstract: The paper analyzes the establishment of relations between Yugoslavia and Bulgaria at the end of the Second World War. In the first part of the text, a brief analysis of the relations between the communist parties of Yugoslavia and Bulgaria is given. Special attention was paid to the military and political prerequisites for cooperation. The geopolitical strategy of the Soviet Union reactivated the idea of a Balkan (South Slavic) Federation, so the fluctuations on this issue are dealt with in particular in the second part of the text. The weakening of these ideas led to more intensive work on bilateral cooperation, which was crowned by the establishment of diplomatic relations. This cooperation is analyzed in the last chapter. The paper is based on unpublished archival material stored in the archives in Serbia, North Macedonia and Bulgaria, published sources, the press and relevant literature.
