Polityka wielokulturowości w europejskiej przestrzeni edukacyjnej

Polityka wielokulturowości w europejskiej przestrzeni edukacyjnej

Author(s): Jerzy Zdański / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2011

This article relates to multiculturalism in the European educational area. The processes of globalization are equally unite and divide – as Zygmunt Bauman writes. Currently, the human individual must accept various changes and learn to live in a constantly changing world. Measures of globalization cause many questions. One of them is the question of education, teacher competencies required, the training and improvement. The teacher should be someone special, someone growing internally and as fast as the world around him. This article describes the problem of quality assurance and improvement in education of adults. The quality of adult education is a priority in the policy of member states of the European Union. The new challenges, including unprecedented demographic changes, immigration, the desire to fight social exclusion and humanistic interpretation of the human individual, become pro-quality search engine. In the educational policy of member states of the European Union preparation to the profession of teacher should lead to ensure that he was a man of multi-dimensional. It seems necessary to develop a new model of teacher education. We must recognize the uniqueness and diversity of educational situations. Teacher of the twenty-first century should be a professional developer and broad-minded, and also should be open to technical progress and use it in teaching. He must be prepared to cooperate with the educational systems of other countries, especially the European Union. Moreover, he must be passionate about, because the only teacher with a passion will be able to meet the expectations of civilizing the societies ofthe European Union: to resist the difficulties encountered by a professional. Teacher training is animportant part in shaping the educational policy of the European Union countries.

Manipulacja w telewizyjnej komunikacji medialnej a przygotowanie dzieci i młodzieży

Author(s): Ewa KIEŁB-STARCZEWSKA / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2021

The text of this paper shows that mass media not only record the information, data or cultural phenomena available but they play an important role in transmitting information. They not only receive but also interpret the received information and even manipulate information. In this way they create a distorted picture of the world around us. Mass media can play both positive and negative roles in transmitting their message, serving truth or lies. By remaining dependent on their owners, they can spread some anti-values by manipulating people, thus contributing to the emergence of a modern form of slavery. Therefore, if they pose a threat to universally recognized positive values it becomes necessary to develop methods and tools effective for critical assessment of their roles. It becomes very important in the context of young learners, who need to be prepared for receiving the right way the transmitted information.

Stany emocjonalno-społeczne wśród młodzieży akademickiej w okresie pandemii COVID-19 (raport z badań)

Stany emocjonalno-społeczne wśród młodzieży akademickiej w okresie pandemii COVID-19 (raport z badań)

Author(s): Magdalena Owczarz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2021

The research was conducted in 2020 and showed that the period of the pandemic will generally have a negative impact on the student’s community. Among students negative emotional states appeared that weakened the psyche of the respondents, and in some cases there was even a nervous breakdown and suicidal thoughts. The students lost their self-esteem, some were touched by a sense of psychological harm and suffering. Among students there were fears about the future and a real threat to the loss of one’s own health and that of relatives. Mental and physical fatigue of students, the impression of slowing down the passage of time and limitations in interpersonal contacts forced changes in the daily rhythm of the day and even corrections in their life plans. The pandemic situation also significantly reduced the pace and motivation to learn and the emergence of such conditions as loss of interests, decreased concentration, difficulty remembering. It may seem disturbing that already in the second wave of the pandemic, as many as 29% of coronersceptics were among the students who studied there. The positive phenomena were that the period of isolation contributed to drawing attention to the quality and quantity of interpersonal contacts and their proper appreciation, and the fact that the extremely burdensome situation did not result in resorting to stimulants and drugs in order to improve well-being.

U początku kształtowania się na ziemiach polskich nowoczesnych nauk o człowieku i jego zróżnicowaniu „rasowym”

Author(s): Joanna Nowak / Language(s): Polish Issue: 20/2021

The article analyses the earliest period of the shaping modern human sciences, studies on human nature, the origins of humans, and physical and cultural diversity of humans in Poland. This process, including several separate stages, began under the influence of the ideas spread by the European Enlightenment and reflected the development of natural sciences that brought a deeper interest in humans, seen from a new perspective, free from religious determinism.Pioneering searches for a secular approach combined creationism and biblical tradition with a rational attitude based on achievements in natural history, linguistics, philosophy, history, and biblical critique. In the next stage, natural history constituted a distinct science with a precise scope of research that included, except mineralogy and botany, also zoology as well as human sciences perceived from a biological perspective. First definitions of anthropology described it as a science only emerging from natural history, with the aim to study both physical and moral aspects of humans. After 1831, human sciences experienced a different situation in various Polish research centers that finally ceased to exist, including Vilnius University, the leader in research in natural history. Under the influence of Romantic ideas, a view was propagated that mental ties were superior to physical ones, spiritual ties to blood kinship, culture was more important than biology. The emphasis in the study of humans was no longer on natural history, as in the late 18th century and the early 19th century, but on issues connected with mind and culture. The growth of both natural science and the humanities led to the establishment of new directions and areas of research that earlier were covered by natural history and history. Authors came to believe that study of humans requires a combination of various methods and cooperation of scholars representing numerous specialized sciences, however with their specific features preserved. This pioneering period lasted until the early 1860s when anthropology became an academic discipline on the Polish lands (translated by Jacek Serwański).

Darwin’s On the Origin of Species in Russia and in the USSR: some aspects of translation and publication

Darwin’s On the Origin of Species in Russia and in the USSR: some aspects of translation and publication

Author(s): Mikhail B. Konashev / Language(s): English Issue: 20/2021

The translation of Ch. Darwin’s main and most well-known book, On the Origin of Species, had great significance for the reception and development of his evolution theory in Russia and later in the USSR, and for many reasons. The history of the book’s publication in Russian in tsarist Russia and in the Soviet Union is analyzed in detail. The first Russian translation of On the Origin of Species was made by Sergey A. Rachinsky in 1864. Till 1917 On the Origin of Species had been published more than ten times, including the publication in Darwin’s collected works. The edition of 1907– –1909 with Timiryazev as editor had the best quality of translation and scientific editing. This translation was used in all subsequent Soviet and post-Soviet editions. During Soviet time, On the Origin of Species was published seven times in total, and three times as a part of Darwin’s collected works. From 1940 to 1987, as a result of the domination of Lysenkoism in Soviet biology, On the Origin of Species was not published in the USSR.During the post-Soviet period, the book was published only two times, and it happened already in the 21st century. The small number of editions of Darwin’s main book in post-Soviet time is one of the consequences of the discredit of the evolutionary theory in mass media and by the Russian Orthodox Church as well as the rise of neo-Lysenkoism.The general circulation of nine pre-revolutionary editions of On the Origin of Species was about 30,000–35,000 copies. Only four editions which had been released in the USSR from 1926 to 1937 had the total circulation in 79,200 copies. Two post-Soviet editions published in 2001 and in 2003 had already a circulation of only 1,000 copies. Subsequent editions in each period of Russian history was thus some kind of an answer to the scientific, political and social requirements of the Russian society and the Russian state.

Stabilising or Dynamising Approach—Changes in the Employment System for Foreigners

Author(s): Izabela Florczak / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2023

Since Poland started the transformation from a country of emigration to a country of immigration, the legal environment related to the employment of foreigners has been constantly changing. These changes seem to be of a bumpy nature, although they implement in a relatively consistent manner certain assumptions that can be called systemic. This article will analyse main directions of legal changes related to the employment of foreigners in Poland, specifying at the same time the objectives that the legislator intended to achieve when introducing them. This will make it possible to show the organisational priorities of labour market regulation and the values that the national legislator aims to protect. Such an analysis, in turn, will make it possible to assess legislative actions and (in the case of their approval) to indicate further necessary improvements made in the spirit of the existing ones or (in the case of their criticism) to set new directions of actions.

Study of the Key Factors Influencing the Effective Planning and Utilization of Production Facilities in the Industrial Enterprise

Author(s): Tanya Panayotova,Krasimira Dimitrova,Neli Veleva / Language(s): English Issue: 6s/2023

In the modern world, the development of technology, machinery and equipment follows a rapid upward trend of constant innovative solutions. The problem of efficient planning and utilization of production capacity is also evolving. The question of knowing the factors affecting the development of production, which acquire other dimensions, closely related to the optimization of processes and activities and more efficient use of the main means such as machines, equipment, information technologies, etc., is increasingly relevant. The relevance of this problem is also determined by the increased integration of production technologies and the search for ways to apply flexible organizational forms for more efficient use of the equipment’s capacity. The changes introduced in the era of Industry 4.0 are now irreversible, and the time has come for the transition to Industry 5.0. Behind Industry 5.0 are technologies representing a set of complex systems, and each of the categories can realize its potential only if it is combined with the others. Industry 5.0 can be seen as a new philosophy of business, according to which technology should work for the benefit of people and society. Business organizations must further adapt to exploit the capabilities of technology and combine them with those of people in order to develop effectively, sustainably and safely. New business models are needed, which require investing less funds and resources to obtain greater benefits. Industry 5.0 means optimizing human productivity and efficiency. Taking into account these new trends that are rapidly emerging in the global business environment, this research is aimed at developing a research model of the key factors affecting the effective planning and utilization of production facilities in the industrial enterprise, based on the results of a previous study. A model is proposed to investigate the relationship between identified key factors and capacity management based on interpretive structural modeling. Turkey – 100 Years of Longing for Modernity

Turkey – 100 Years of Longing for Modernity

Author(s): Evgenia Ivanova / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2023

The text traces the painful development of Turkish modernity – a process of still ongoing clashes between the aspirations of a part of the elites to be “modern Europeans”, the unquestioning certainty of another part of them that “modernity” and “Europe/West” are by no means equivalent, and the traditional mentality of broad segments of Turkish society. At the heart of the study are two extremes: high literature (the works of Orhan Pamuk) and popular culture (television series), which reveals the wide register of possibilities for tracing the longing for modernity and its (un)realisation in Turkish reality. The original synonymy of “modernity” and “the West” that fueled the longing – from the late Ottoman Empire, through the Republican period until the end of the millennium – gradually disintegrated. In the new millennium, the official notion of achieved modernity increasingly asserted itself, however not as juxtaposition with the West, but in spite of it.

Author(s): Ilian Minkov,Yordan Ivanov / Language(s): English Issue: 6s/2023

In the current conditions of a dynamic and highly competitive market environment, the official corporate culture of companies published online plays an essential role in building up their image. However, the question of importance for the managers of business organizations is whether and to what extent the scope of publicization of corporate culture elements affects their market performance and financial and economic results. The purpose of this study is to establish the relationship between the degree of development of the publicized corporate culture of courier companies in Bulgaria and the level of their profitability as a key financial and economic indicator. The results show that, depending on the nature of the proclaimed elements, the publicized corporate culture exerts between a weak and a significant influence on the sales revenue of the studied companies.

Increasing CSR, through a Methodology for Intelligent Personal Efficiency of Employees

Author(s): Petya Biolcheva,Evgeni Valchev / Language(s): English Issue: 6s/2023

Corporate social responsibility affects the interests of a wide range of stakeholders, but among the most important for it are the employees themselves in the organizations. This material is aimed at increasing the efficiency of employees by reducing their personal stress levels in the work environment. For this purpose, a methodology for personal effectiveness of employees (PEE) is proposed here. PEE is a conceptual view on the collaboration of different intelligent tools to monitor the stress levels in employees and offer different individual mechanisms to deal with it, according to the specific tasks, capabilities, and psycho-physical state. The proposed methodology is considered an alternative to an accurate and impartial mechanism through which CSR can be increased, it is applicable in a wide range of businesses and has a beneficial effect on employees.

Research of the Innovation Capacity of Agricultural Producers

Author(s): Siya Veleva,Margarita Mondeshka,Anka Tsvetanova / Language(s): English Issue: 6s/2023

Bulgarian agriculture lags behind global trends in innovation activity. This is largely due to the fact that it is carried out by predominantly small owners (farmers), who usually do not have a good opportunity to introduce innovations or they underestimate their importance. The results are reduced operational efficiency and problematic development sustainability.Given this, the purpose of this publication is to briefly present the results of a study of the innovation capacity of a sample of Bulgarian farmers, as a condition for the activation of innovations. Such research has not yet been done in our country. The studied sample is not representative of Bulgarian agriculture, but the obtained results are indicative of the innovative possibilities of agricultural producers. Based on them, various comparisons can be made and analyzes relevant to theory and business practice can be carried out.
