Author(s): Olivera S. Živanović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2017

This paper is based on theoretical analysis of the research in the field of fractions, with the special attention on students' problems with understanding the representation of fractions in the beginner's level of mathematics teaching. The aim of this paper is a solution of the problem which students encounter while trying to understand representations of fractions. The presented research used for this paper was a guidepost to obstacles students have to deal with while trying to understand the notion of fractions with the intention to overcome them. The paper consists of the two parts. The first one is dedicated to methodical approach of the content related to fractions. In the other part however, the attention is directed towards presentation of the relevant research related to the students' problems with understanding this notion. According to the previous theories and models we came to the following conclusions. Firstly, an adequate manipulation of representative models of the fraction will form the mental image of fraction, specially models from ordinary pupil's life. Secondly, increasing of visual contents about fractions can be done by using a number line. Thirdly, while teaching this subject it is necessary to use innovative models of teaching because using of wide range of teaching systems contributes to better understanding of representations of fractions.

ЖИВОТ НАШИХ ПРЕДАКА (ПРОЈЕКТНА НАСТАВА)

Author(s): Milijana Petrović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2017

Formation of Professional Skills of Agricultural Engineers during Laboratory Practice when Studying Fundamental Science

Author(s): Ivan Beloev,Oksana Bulgakova,Oksana Zakhutska,Mária Bondár,Lesia Zbaravska / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2024

The article deals with the problems of organizing and conducting professionally oriented laboratory classes in fundamental sciences, in particular physics in agricultural and technical universities. The research aim is to theoretically substantiate and develop the methodology for the formation of professionally oriented experimental skills of future agricultural engineers in the process of performing laboratory work in physics in the conditions of the integration of fundamental and professional training. To achieve the research aim, we used the following research methods: theoretical (comparative analysis of scientific, methodological and pedagogical literature) and empirical (observation, analysis, survey of respondents, generalization and modeling of research results, generalization of pedagogical learning experience). In order to select and understand the experiment results, we conducted a survey of teachers and students in order to reveal their understanding of the importance of studying physics for future professional activities. The analysis of the content of physics curricula and other subjects of the natural mathematical and professional cycles of training made it possible to determine the topics that can be supplemented at laboratory classes in physics (these additions are aimed at the formation of practical skills, which are a necessary component of the professional competence of future specialists in the agricultural sector). The professional orientation in teaching natural sciences involves studying the science basics in an organic connection with the specifics of the future profession. The research experimentally proved that the practical focus of teaching physics changes the student’s attitude to theoretical training, helps him discover the deep internal interdependence of theory with future professional activity, his training as a specialist.

Incentivizing Publication Activity and the Inevitable Problems

Author(s): Georgi Kiranchev / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2024

This paper examines in a mathematically simplified form the incentive system of publication activity adopted by Bulgarian universities. The methodology of the study is a mathematical analysis of a competitive game between multiple players. All proofs are made in the generalised case. It is shown that in this (and similar) mathematical form of the basic formula for calculating players’ rewards, there exists an optimal number of publications at which each player reaches his maximum profit. It is shown that if individual players do not cooperate but follow competitive behavior, they will realise their maximum profits in a Nash equilibrium. It is shown that in this equilibrium some players will prefer to have zero publication activity, which depends on the costs they incur for their publications. Easy done and cheap publications will be more competitive and more numerous. It has been shown that it is more profitable for players to cooperate and minimise the amount of publications rather than compete. Potential problems and distortions in the implementation of incentives are commented.

Author(s): Joanna Kossewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2024

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are due to many etiological factors and despite the constant interest of researchers they constitute an intriguing mystery. The incidence of these neurodevelopmental disorders has been steadily increasing in the general population over recent decades. Inter-individual differences are significant, so effective methods of educational and therapeutic interactions are still being sought. Great hopes are placed on contemporary social robotics, a rapidly developing field, which can provide many practical solutions. However, humanoid robots are also becoming an inspiring proposition in the field of therapy and education of children with autism, but its effectiveness is still the subject of many experimental studies. The aim of the article is to critically reflect on the ethical aspects of using robots to help people with autism. The presentation of research results on the use of humanoid robots in the diagnosis and therapy of people with autism underpins reflections grounded in the fundamental axiological values and rights of people with autism be protected against abuse.

Игрови подходи в обучението: университетски контекст

Author(s): Tsvetan Davidkov,Silvia Toneva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2024

This paper presents the results of a survey of university teachers on the use of games in teaching. The focus is on the possibilities associated with the use of games. The opportunities identified are conceptualised based on three possible approaches to the use of games, termed conventionally basic; didactically grounded and philosophically methodological. The following hypothesis is tested: in the mainstream case, the use of games in learning is founded on the basic approach to games in learning. The relative proportion of teachers using didactically grounded and philosophical-methodological approach is significantly lower. It is argued that efforts to master each of these levels is justified because it can improve learning outcomes.

Resuming the analytical aproach of local history textbooks is justified by those identitary landmarks, so necessary for all of us. Regardless of the name of the community where you were born, where you spent your childhood or where you choose to live, the story of the local space reflects the age of the housing testimonies, their continuity up to our days, illustrated in documents, images, personal profiles, study cases. The work to put them together in a volume, corroborated with the critical look drop on them, aims to highlight local values, to transform them into examples of facts that last over time and disseminate them through publications that want to be headbooks.

Organizacja i przebieg repatriacji Polaków przez Szczecin z brytyjskiej strefy okupacyjnej Niemiec w latach 1945–1947

Author(s): Ryszard Techman / Language(s): Polish Issue: 7/2023

Eponymous church accounting book from Lutheran parish in Szumiąca near Kamień Pomorski from the years 1730–1792 was discovered in Gdańsk. The annual balance sheet was approved by the parish patrons. Control of parish books was coducted by praepositus of Chapter of Kamień. Research was undertaken with use of actor-network theory (ANT) corelated with timeline. Every person, institution, phenomenon, object or animal can become a network actor and create a network of connections. The book was placed in the church structures of the Kamień Chapter, an accounting system based on a combination of French and German accounting, and in the accounting currency system of that time. The graph presenting the Book as an actor-network shows the connections of accounting accounts with quantitative research, and accounting maxims with qualitative analyses. For a better understanding of the ANT theory adapted to historical research, the publication includes the results of an analysis of the purchasing power of silver contained in a good penny, taking into account inflation against the background of historical events. Accounting sentences describing people, places and events allowed for the analysis of connections with the resources of the State Archives in Szczecin. The article characterizes the organization and course of the return to the country of Polish repatriates from the British occupation zone in Germany through Szczecin in the first years after the end of World War II. This planned and mass operation involved thousands of Poles, especially the so-called forced laborers sent to work in the Third Reich, prisoners of war imprisoned in camps and demobilized soldiers of the Polish Armed Forces in the West. Szczecin played a special role in this proces due to its location near the border with Germany in the new geopolitical reality, its location on an important sea route to the Baltic Sea and favorable conditions for the use of road and rail communication. Not without significance was the good preparation of Stage Point No. 2 of the State Repatriation Office in the city on the Oder River, which sometimes received several thousand people a day. The author preceded analysis of the action of return of the Polish population to their homeland with information about the negotiations on this matter between the interested authorities of Great Britain, the USSR and Poland. Repatriation carried out by road, sea and rail brought significant results, as nearly 265,000 people came to Szczecin, the vast majority of whom were then transported by train to the interior of the country, where their families were already waiting. A few remained in the city, some lived in Western Pomerania, being an addition for the population consisted of settlers arriving from the East.
