Morphological processes in the spatial structure of the southern district of Wrocław city

Morphological processes in the spatial structure of the southern district of Wrocław city

Author(s): Barbara Miszewska,Robert Szmytkie / Language(s): English Issue: 27/2015

The paper analyses the morphological changes in the spatial structure of the southern district of Wrocław city (Lower Silesia, Poland). The district developed from the former villages of vegetable-growers, which in the Middle Ages bordered directly with the city as set out in the charter. In the second half of the 19th century, the villages were incorporated into the city, and after a while, they started their metamorphosis. Rectangular urban blocks were formed on the basis of medieval axes in the villages. At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the blocks were successively filled with typical tenement buildings. As a result of World War II, existing buildings were totally destroyed. In the 1960s, they started re-construction of the district, which led to its second metamorphosis. The new constructions resembled typical, socialist apartment projects in other Polish cities. The prestige the district enjoyed before World War II was lost together with its style and character.

Konopnica – fakty i zagadki

Konopnica – fakty i zagadki

Author(s): Anna Nierychlewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 5/2005

Author(s): Ljiljana Gavrilović / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2004

Although physical geography has a long tradition, its faster development started since the establishing of Geography Institute in 1893. At first, geomorphology was developed, then climatology, mathematical geography and hydrology and much later biogeography and paleogeography. In the past period, the schedule of physically geographical subjects didn't change much, but as for scientific development, physical geography is in constant ascent. Through basic and graduate studies, it trains young geography staff for scientific research, but also for practical work in various fields of social life.

Atraktivni prirodno-geografski faktori Donjeg Vakufa i mogućnosti razvoja turizma

Atraktivni prirodno-geografski faktori Donjeg Vakufa i mogućnosti razvoja turizma

Author(s): Orhana Bušatlija / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 5/2008

Dolj County – The loans and deposits evolution (2011-2012)

Author(s): Ileana NICULA / Language(s): English Issue: 37+38/2013

During 2011 and 2012 the economic development was heavily influenced by the world financial turmoil. The European Financial System has supported great difficulties in financing credit operations, difficulties which have been worsened by the sovereign debt crisis. Yet, after two years of GDP declining, 2011 came with a slightly increasing in real terms (2.5%), mainly by the revival of the industry and statistics showed that Dolj County has slightly improved its economic parameters. The working paper provides an analysis of the evolution of loans and deposits for the first nine months of 2012 against 2011 in Dolj County. Despite the pinkish image at the macroeconomic level, the financial intermediation has an eclectic evolution, reflecting the inertia of the economic engine and Dolj County is part of the described parameters. These miscellaneous trends are analysed using charts and tables.

Eski Uygurca Fiziki Coğrafya Terimleri Üzerine

Author(s): Uğur Uzunkaya / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 60/2018

Old Uyghur, a branch of the historical Turkic languages, is an important period in which religious and non-religious texts are produced and contains the vocabulary relating to various concepts. The vocabulary studies on historical Turkic languages do not only give information about the geography and culture of the languages studied; they also shed light on the social and economic life of that period. These texts, which contain the terms on many subjects such as agriculture, husbandry, household items, musical instruments, etc., are among the source of language and cultural studies. For this reason, analyzing the content of written sources and determining their vocabulary helps to draw the historical and geographical boundaries of that culture. In this context, this paper aims to prepare a study on the terms of physical geography documented in religious and non-religious texts in Old Uyghur. The terms of physical geography in this paper have been studied in two subtitles of Terms of Natural Resources and Structural Geomorphology Terms. In addition, Terms of Natural Resources, the first part of the paper, consists of four sections: Forests, Mountains, Hills; Soil; Water Resources and Continent. The second part of the paper, Structural Geomorphology Terms consists of two sections: Fluvial Geomorphology Terms and Coastal Geomorphology Terms.

In recent earthquakes, there has been a significant field evidence that the collapse of existing structures is due to the effect of the vertical component of the seismic ground motions. Such field evidence has been not supported by comprehensive analytical and experimental testing yet. This study focuses on the preliminary analysis of the seismic response of reinforced concrete elements exposed to horizontal and vertical ground motions. In this research, the vertical earthquake effect was investigated on two reinforced concrete buildings with 3 stories and 7 stories

Author(s): Modou Ndiaye / Language(s): French Issue: 1/2020

The purpose of this article is to analyze the promotion of sustainable urban development. The major question is to understand how the new city project adapts to the new production model of the city based on a normative approach including relevant practices. Urban planning consists of a project approach which tends towards sustainable production in the city. The latter must in no way ignore resources for the promotion of sustainable urban development, the transposition of which into space constitutes a challenge to be met. To be viable, the Diamniadio sustainable city project must essentially take care of the landscape and environmental, social and land dimensions linked to Senegalese history and culture.

Author(s): Modou Ndiaye / Language(s): French Issue: 1/2020

Urban development is accompanied by significant production of wastewater and waste. The collection and treatment of this waste and spent waste results in the presence of numerous unauthorized dumps, stagnation of waste water. Most of the waste comes from households, industrial establishments and hospitals. The removal and disposal of waste is a crucial environmental problem in Senegalese cities. These problems stem from a series of causes which revolve around irregular collection, incomplete territorial coverage, and insufficient collection equipment, the absence of an effective treatment system and non-implication of the populations. To this end, Senegal’s environmental policy, in particular the management of wastewater and waste is one of the fundamental challenges of cities.

Author(s): Karel Absolon / Language(s): Bosnian,Croatian,Serbian Issue: 4/1978

Prošlo je već 60 godina otkako sam - vjeran porodičnoj tradiciji - (Dr. H. Wankel 1821-1897) prostupio studiju malog, ali naučno značajnog "Moravskog krša", u kojem dominira veliki i širom svijeta poznati ponor "Mazoha" i podzemna rijeka "Punkva". O tome, kojim sam putovima išao, šta sam želio postići, a šta postigao, izvjestio sam u obimnom djelu posvećenom geografskom opisu toga krša, u kojem je priložen bogati izbor karata, planova i slika.
