Książka Narracje fantastyczne pod wspólną redakcją Kseni Olkusz i Krzysztofa M. Maja jest piątym tomem serii „Perspektywy Ponowoczesności”, zbierającym na blisko siedmiuset stronach trzydzieści tekstów naukowych rozpatrujących szeroko pojętą fantastykę z perspektywy ponowoczesnej, transdyscyplinarnej i światocentrycznej zarazem. Z recenzji prof. dr hab. Anny Łebkowskiej (Uniwersytet Jagielloński): Tom „Narracje fantastyczne” to zbiór studiów poświęconych ważnym współczesnym zjawiskom obecnym w literaturze, filmie, grach komputerowych i szeroko rozumianym świecie kultury. La imagen del gitano en la lexicografía española

The monograph deals with the history of treatment that receive lexical units of Gypsy origin in Spanish monolingual dictionaries, especially in the editions of the normative Spanish Royal Academy dictionary of the Spanish language. The issue is being studied from the quantitative as well as qualitative point of view, i.e. the evolution of definitions, lexicographical marcs and etymological notes. Special attention is paid to the evolution of their treatment in the microstructure. The results from Spanish Royal Academy dictionary are then compared with the treatment that receive these words in the dictionary of contemporary Spanish by Manuel Seco et al.

Adaptacje biografii i twórczości Josepha Conrada w kulturze współczesnej

Adaptations seem to be ubiquitous in contemporary culture. The present monograph touches upon the subject of widely understood adaptations in relation to Joseph Conrad’s life and work. Most definitions of adaptation operate on the assumption that it is a literary work which constitutes the seed of an adaptation. The author argues, however, that biographies of writers have also become fully-fledged cultural texts and, similarly to literary texts, may be subject to adaptation. The biography of Joseph Conrad-Korzeniowski constitutes rich adaptation material, in which sensational plots overlap with adventures, and dramatic events (including love stories) interweave with comedic ones. It comes as no surprise, then, that many artists have drawn on this arsenal of motifs, have tapped into this arsenal of motifs, choosing their favorite episodes and fleshing them out or dramatizing them to transform them in their works. The monograph constitutes an analysis of the transformation of Conrad’s figure (and his works) by contemporary artists within five categories: graphic novels (Heart of Darkness. A Graphic Novel by C. Anyango and D.Z. Mairowitz, Congo by T. Tirabosco and Ch. Perrissin, Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness by P. Kuper and Au coeur des ténèbres by S. Miquel and L. Godart), comic books (The Amazing Tales by J. Conrad, Ł. Godlewski and M. Jasiński), literary appropriations (Heart of Darkness by J. Dukaj, Dżozef by J. Małecki, Condition by E. Rylski), theater plays (Conrad by I. Villqist, Wyspiański/Conrad by T. Man), film scripts and radio plays (Victory by H. Pinter). Finally, the volume discusses the presence of the figure of Conrad in the context of contemporary branding, as well as the factors conducive to building a strong “Conrad” brand in contemporary Polish culture. The conducted analyses demonstrate, in turn, that not only the writer’s works, but also his biography understood as a cultural text remains present in contemporary culture, constituting an attractive and abundant source of adaptation.

Konstruowanie wiedzy w pisemnych i asynchronicznych interakcjach online

The topic discussed in the book concerns computer-assisted teaching and learning, which is an important area in contemporary foreign language teaching. The main object of consideration is the possibility of organizing virtual space group tasks in which learners undertake knowledge construction activities. My focus is on the activities of initiating and conducting online interaction which correspond to the genre properties of rational discussion in two contexts: a remote learning platform (interaction conducted within a student group) and online information websites (open and public communication). The study presented in the book had two main objectives. The first was to propose a model of online academic discussion that takes into account the specificity of the processes of constructing meaning online and the objectives of FL studies. The second aim was to identify the sources of difficulties involved in the implementation of online work and to propose additional tasks which may allow teachers and their students to negotiate their task representations and to adapt their activities to the generic requirements of the argumentative/academic discussion model. The conclusions confirm the validity of the diagnosis at the basis of the didactic intervention and support the teacher-researcher's construction of personal knowledge.

This book offers a new edition with a transliteration and a detailed analysis of the linguistic peculiarities of a little-known in science and hitherto unexplored Medieval Croatian manuscript. This is the vita of St. Catherine “Legenda sv. Katarine divice” according to manuscript I c 6 from the Archives of HAZU. The text was created for the nuns from the Franciscan monastery “St. Ekaterina” in Zadar, was kept in the virgin Benedictine monastery “St. Maria” in Zadar, later became part of the rich book collection of Ivan Kukuljevic, and since 1869 it has been among the manuscripts of the library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. It was written in the vernacular from the region of Central and Northern Dalmatia from the period XIV-XV centuries. The writing, spelling, morphology, vocabulary of the selected manuscript are described and analyzed in detail. A special emphasis in the study is placed on the style of Croatian vita. Stylistic analysis overlaps each of the linguistic levels listed above. A supposed Latin prothograph, on which the Croatian translation was probably made, has also been recovered. The results of the textual analysis show that the style of the Croatian vita is unique, rarely influenced by the Latin text and is a testimony rather to the skills and experience of the translator/compiler in the translation/compilation activity.
