Służba zawodowa kobiet w Wojsku Polskim (problemy psychologiczne)

Służba zawodowa kobiet w Wojsku Polskim (problemy psychologiczne)

Author(s): Tadeusz Rotter / Language(s): Polish Issue: 4/2012

The abolition of compulsory military service and the professionalisation of the Polish Army has its positive and negative aspects. As far as positive aspects are concerned, a large number of new job posts has been created in the state institutions, which is regarded as quite stable and offers attractive financial opportunities as well as certain privileges. Hence the unprecedented interest in the professional military service, with a single vacancy for even dozen candidates. The negative part of the recruitment is, unfortunately, connected with difficulties in filling all military posts due to an inability to comply with demanding requirements necessary to become a soldier. It is a reason of difficulties in filling military posts. Professionalisation of the army is also an opportunity for women. Until now, only certain amount of women had military training. These were mainly the people with medical training. Feminization of the military resulting primarily from international standards greatly expands the possibility of women’s employment, particularly in linear units. Women can acquire appropriate qualifications and take commanding positions in all types of weapons. Obviously, it does not meant hat for health reasons, it is always desirable (eg in the case of supersonic aircraft pilots). Therefore, there is still a strong tendency to employ women as civilian employees of the Army. The paper outlines some of the psychological problems that arise in connection with the professional military service of women. The author will also present the struggle of women to be participants of military effort of Poland and organizational aspects of military service in Poland.

Author(s): Paweł Ciepliński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2018

The communication process in the maritime water rescue system is one of the key factors affecting the final effect of the rescue operation. Emergency services encounter not only new threats, but also communication problems. Communication between individual rescuers and teams usually proceeds correctly and efficiently. The specific nature of their job bring some problems, which are most often caused by a high psychological burden and people from outside the rescue teams, which hinder the correct course of the rescue operation. The way in which the actions of water rescuers are carried out and what their effect is, depends to a large extent on the effective contact between individual rescuers and teams.

Rzeczywistość prawna i społeczna w kontekście realizacji paradygmatu normalizacji życia osób z niepełnosprawnością

Author(s): Joanna Konarska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2020

In modern times, disability has become not only a medical and psychological problem, but also a social one. More and more people in the world are becoming people with disabilities. This state of affairs requires care for the rights of persons with disabilities in the same way as for the rights of every human being. Unfortunately, simply establishing the law is not enough to normalize the lives of people with disabilities. Changes in social attitudes are necessary because they are conditioned by prejudices and, above all, by the lack of reliable knowledge. The normalization of life of people with disabilities is based on the assumption of full participation in all life trends. However, the law does not guarantee changes in the human mentality. Therefore, a joint effort of specialists of different disciplines and the good will of all people is needed to normalize the situation of people with disabilities.

ВЪЗДЕЙСТВИЕ НА ЕКОЛОГИЧНАТА ДЕГРАДАЦИЯ ВЪРХУ РАЗХОДИТЕ ЗА ЗДРАВЕОПАЗВАНЕ

Author(s): Victoria Antonova Todorova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2023

The purpose of this report is to highlight the relationship between economic growth, environmental well-being, health of population and their impact on health care spending growth. Health is a difficult good to assess and cannot be compared with any other. Because of this feature, every person should have guaranteed access to medical care that does not depend on their income. Health is affected by many factors, the action of which cannot always be kept under control. One of the factors determining health is the quality of the environment, which, together with the quality of life of people, has a direct relationship to both health and health care costs. A large part of the determinants of health are interrelated with the degree of economic development of the country and its level of education. In this regard, the high level of human capital related to health has a positive effect on labor productivity, respectively the rate of economic growth. On the one hand, economic growth causes an increase in the standard of living, but on the other hand worsens environmental conditions, which leads to the spread of diseases and increases the financial burden on the health system. The American Health Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank study the impact of health on economic growth in less developed countries . At the end of the study, they came to the following conclusions: there is a relationship between poverty, inequality and the accumulation of human capital, as well as between variations in economic growth and social development . Even under these conditions, life expectancy has increased, although health policies implemented in different areas of the same country lead to health inequalities. The present study covers data for 20 European Union countries. In the course of the analysis, the ratios between the following indicators are reflected ( GDP per capita, level of environmental pollution, (ratio of health care expenditure to GDP), and the effects of health care (expressed as infant mortality, life expectancy and frequency of various diseases) . The obtained results confirmed the interdependence between economic growth and health care , which is complex and leaves its mark on the resources used to finance the health care system.

Párová terapie a deprese

Párová terapie a deprese

Author(s): Aleš Neusar / Language(s): Czech Issue: 2/2023

This article focuses on couple therapy when addressing depression. The initial part of the text centers on the impact of relationships on depression. Troubled intimate relationships can act as a causal factor in the onset and even chronicity of depression. The second part describes the circumstances in which couple therapy for depression may be advantageous or even superior to individual psychotherapy. This is particularly relevant when depression is intertwined with negative relational dynamics and mutual interactions between partners, a relatively common occurrence. Nevertheless, couple therapy can also prove beneficial in healthy partnerships. Possible risks or contraindications for couple therapy in cases of depression are also discussed, such as when it fails to challenge the discourse that it is “solely about depression”. The third section delves into couple therapy for depression, primarily from the perspective of narrative psychotherapy. Throughout the text, the author not only cites the works of other authors but also draws from personal experiences with couples grappling with depression and insights gained from interviews with fellow professionals in the field.

Validation of the Arabic version of the family assessment measure III (FAM III)

Author(s): Enas O. Sarour,Huda B Saifuddin / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

Family functioning plays an important role in adaptation to developmental changes for both individuals and families. The Family Assessment Measure, third edition, (FAM III) is among the self-report measures used to assess family functioning. However, no version of FAM III has been validated in the context of Saudi Arabia. The purpose of this study was to examine the psychometric properties of the FAM III in Saudi Arabia. Respondents were presented with a questionnaire containing among others the FAM III and the Family Quality of Life Scale (FQoLS). The construct validity was assessed using confirmatory factor analysis, and concurrent validity, and the internal consistency reliability was assessed with Cronbach alpha coefficients. The results indicated that FAM III is a valid and reliable measure to be used in Saudi Arabia. Moderate correlations were found between subscales of FAM III and some subscales of FQoLS, indicating moderate concurrent validity. Cronbach alphas ranged between 0.68 and 0.76, indicating moderate reliability.

Self-efficacy and conscientiousness in caregivers of the mentally challenged: a randomized controlled trial

Self-efficacy and conscientiousness in caregivers of the mentally challenged: a randomized controlled trial

Author(s): Aikaterini Koutrouki / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2021

Little research has evaluated the obstacles and challenges that complicate the daily life of mentally challenged individuals and their caregivers. The involvement in the provision of care for the mentally challenged constitutes a lifetime commitment for their family members that form the main core of care, compelling them both to experience most of the health-care inequalities in comparison with the rest of the general population. Self-efficacy and conscientiousness consist two behavioral signatures/personality traits that guarantee the uncompromising enthusiasm and undivided commitment in circumstances that are defined as specifically difficult and demanding, enabling caregivers to adopt in the given conditions. The results of the survey indicate that the involvement in the provision of care for the mentally challenged (N=81) is not random and doesn’t depend on the score of the Intelligence Scale, but is in fact the result of a conscious selection, a mental commitment, whose success is ensured by the perception of self-efficacy and conscientiousness, that are statistically significant and at the same time bidirectional. Furthermore, the survey also indicates that caregivers who chose willingly to take care of the mentally challenged, have a statistically significant higher self-efficacy perception.

From Innocence to Infection: Interpreting “The Sick Rose” in the Light of the COVID‐19 Crisis

Author(s): Mostafa A. S. Rosheed,Wafa’ Abbas Sahan / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

This paper examines the enduring relevance of William Blake’s poem “The Sick Rose” in the context of contemporary challenges, particularly the COVID‐19 pandemic. Despite its pre‐pandemic origin, the poem’s themes of hidden vulnerabilities, obscured intentions, and transient beauty resonate profoundly with current complexities. Through comprehensive analysis of symbolism, the study highlights literature’s adaptability in reflecting evolving human experiences. Slavoj Žižek’s book Pandemic!: COVID‐19 Shakes the World offers a lens to understand these themes, as it explores hidden threats, shattered illusions, global chaos, gradual transformation, and human frailty caused by the pandemic. This analysis magnifies the poem’s resonance, demonstrating literature’s power to mirror shifting human narratives. Ultimately, the research underscores the unbreakable connection between art and life, presenting “The Sick Rose” as a testament to the enduring interplay between artistic expression and the evolving contours of existence.
