FACTEURS FAMILIAUX ET « DEVENIR » DES ADOLESCENT-E-S DESCOLARISE-E-S : ÉTAT DES LIEUX ET DÉTERMINANTS DANS LA COMMUNE DE TCHAOUROU (BÉNIN)

FACTEURS FAMILIAUX ET « DEVENIR » DES ADOLESCENT-E-S DESCOLARISE-E-S : ÉTAT DES LIEUX ET DÉTERMINANTS DANS LA COMMUNE DE TCHAOUROU (BÉNIN)

Author(s): Lucien Médard DAHOUE,Judicaël Alladatin / Language(s): French Issue: 1/2022

The situation of unschooled teenagers in the labor market seems particularly worrisome. This study is related to concerns about the social integration of adolescents and aims to identify the determinants of the future of out-of-school adolescents in the commune of Tchaourou. It specifically addresses, through a nested multinomial logit regression, two aspects of the “future” of adolescents out of-school: economic activity and future plans. The results show that the size of the household of residence and the financial support granted by parents/guardians are the key factors in the exercise of an income-generating activity by out-of-school adolescents. The future of adolescents out-of-school are significantly influenced by the relationship with the head of the household, the standard of living of the household and the type of household.

Нагласи на студенти за произхода на вируса, причиняващ COVID-19, и ваксинирането срещу него

Author(s): Valeri Stoyanov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2022

An integrated approach, using quantitative and qualitative research methodology, with a sample of 150 students, reveals the attitude of students to the nature and origin of the virus causing COVID-19, as well as vaccines, scientific evidence and prospects for their use. The results show, despite the expectations that students would have more trust in scientific information about vaccines and a higher percentage of vaccinated, that they do not differ from the general population in our country. More than half believe in conspiracy theories about the artificial origin and spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, and do not trust the scientific evidence on the safety of vaccines. The vaccinated one third of the sample have statistically significantly more confidence in scientific evidence than unvaccinated. Vaccinated students live in households where the majority are vaccinated, while unvaccinated students live in households where the majority are not vaccinated. The motives for vaccination for those who have done so and those around one tenth who intend to be vaccinated are less related to medical logic. For most of the vaccinated, the motives are related to the way of life - frequent travel abroad, being able to work to survive, not having to pay for different tests every day. The role of higher education institutions in improving students' awareness of the medical logic of pandemic control and making young people leaders in this process is discussed.

Методически насоки при разработване на проектно задание по теоретични технически предмети

Author(s): Maia Angelova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2022

The high-tech world of the 21st century places new demands on educational systems. Expectations for success in modern society are associated with the ability to find and process information, out-of-the-box thinking and creativity, the ability to independently acquire knowledge, problem-solving skills and finding solutions, teamwork and cooperation. This requires radically new educational models and necessitates changes in teaching methodology. Such a modern, innovative model of education, which changes the concept of teaching itself and introduces new ways of pedagogical guidance is project-based learning. In this publication, an exemplary version of the development of a project assignment in the conduct of project-based learning is proposed, with corresponding methodological guidelines.

Why American Education Today Ought to be Counter-Cultural

Why American Education Today Ought to be Counter-Cultural

Author(s): Curtis L. Hancock / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2022

In his article, the author points out the gradual domination of leftists in universities, which eventually affected all American institutions. This is very evident today in the leftist attitudes of the media, the legal profession, the bureaucracy, the government, and even the clergy. The author argues that because of this transformation, if one wants to assess the state of American society, one must address what has happened in the universities. As universities have normalized Marxist cultural principles and attitudes, the critic of higher education must expose these Marxist tendencies in schools. Because this Marxist tendency now dominates university culture, it must be demanded that higher education reform today be countercultural.

Социално-личностни фактори определящи речевото поведение в японските студентски групи

Author(s): Anton Andreev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2009

The article discusses social and personal factors which determine the choice of honorific forms in Japanese university clubs. Analysis is based on questionnaire data. The results imply a certain hierarchy of social and personal factors, as well as the existence of group specific and activity-specific patterns. The most important factor which determines honorific choice is addressee’s in-group history, followed by psychological closeness of both communicators, and addressee’s sex (with only a minimum influence). Culture-activity groups show a more complicated factor-output pattern as compared to athletic groups.

Factors Influencing the Teaching Beliefs of University Faculty Members during Covid-19 Pandemic

Factors Influencing the Teaching Beliefs of University Faculty Members during Covid-19 Pandemic

Author(s): Wan-Chen Hsu / Language(s): English Issue: 78/2022

Taiwanese university educators’ efficacy is traditionally associated with the belief in aligning teaching and learning outcomes. However, existing research on teacher efficacy involving modern university educators is limited. We bridge this gap by exploring university educators’ perceived efficacy and the factors that influence those perceptions. We surveyed teachers from a national university in southern Taiwan using the Teacher Efficacy Scale and interviews about the source of efficacy beliefs. We obtained 74 survey responses and descriptive statistics and analysis of variance were performed. During the interviews, four qualitative data sets were collected, and we analyzed the data using a continuous comparison analysis method. Generally, participants had medium- to high-levels of perceived efficacy; however, levels differed by gender. Efficacy scores were also higher in course design, technology usage, and classroom management, compared to instructional strategies and learning assessments. The main sources of efficacy perception included mastery experience, role models, student-teacher relationship, professional growth, and student support. Our findings suggest several strategies for follow-up research to promote university educators’ sense of efficacy.

Teachers face various emotional problems; they not only work with labor, intellect, and affection, but also have to show appropriate emotions under increasing pressure to create a rational and warm organizational climate in schools. Teachers’ hard work is the emotional labor load. The university teachers in Bangkok, Thailand participated in this study. A total of 480 copies of the questionnaire were distributed. After removing invalid and incomplete ones, 437 copies were remained valid, with a response rate of 91%. The research results showed that a university that fails to meet the teachers’ satisfaction and expectations can result in teachers’ low well-being and job satisfaction as well as teaching inefficiency which seriously lowers the effectiveness of the university and university teachers are medium and high emotional labor workers who consume large amount of emotion and labor in their workplaces, therefore, they can easily show burnout, teaching apathy, and even physical and mental exhaustion under excessive use of emotions, and 3. a university leader who is willing to find a solution to the teachers’ emotional labor load can help them correctly manage their emotions to obtain a high level of well-being and job satisfaction. According to the results it can be discussed that the current study is expected to help in terms of increasing the number of emotion management courses and channels for releasing teachers’ emotional labor load, avoiding emotional dissonance, and promoting teacher efficiency.

THE USE OF CONTEMPORARY TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING LITERATURE: SHAKESPEARE ON A SMALL SCREEN

THE USE OF CONTEMPORARY TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING LITERATURE: SHAKESPEARE ON A SMALL SCREEN

Author(s): Vesna Suljić / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2022

Due to the world health, social, economic and political crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic which started in 2020, continued into 2021 and will probably extend its effects into years to come, the educational sector has been affected in many ways – from students’ inability to attend classes in the classroom, to the sudden change of teaching methodology from traditional methods which used technology sparingly and occasionally to the new methods which require the teachers’ and students’ constant reliance on their computers, smart phones, different applications and communication platforms. Students needed to cover materials planned in the course outlines, meet learning outcomes, and on the top of that stay motivated and inspired to learn while the world around them did not know where it was going. This paper will present the delivery of the course on Shakespeare conducted in the Department of English Language and Literature at International University of Sarajevo – firstly in the classroom, then online. It will describe the teaching methods and changes to the previous course format necessitated by the move to online teaching; compare the new and previously used technology in the same course; describe the teacher’s and students’ involvement; and present the final result of the students’ project titled “The Reading Theatre”. The students’ achievements and their and the teacher’s evaluation of the course content will be outlined at the end of this paper.

Razvoj izučavanja hrvatske politike od šezdesetih do danas

Razvoj izučavanja hrvatske politike od šezdesetih do danas

Author(s): Višeslav Raos / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 03/2022

The paper offers a historical overview of the development of the study of Croatian politics at the Faculty of Political Science. The pre-democratic period was marked by relatively unfavorable conditions for the study of national politics, due both to the dominant conception of the curriculum that denied the independence of political science, as well as the political and social context. Yet, already in the 1960s and 1970s, first studies dealing with voter behavior and the functioning of representative bodies were conducted. The multiple transition in late 1980s and early 1990s introduced new topics and led to the emancipation of national political science. After 2000, the study of Croatian politics experienced new diversity in method and scope. Recently, there has been a significant increase in papers published in top international journals, leading to greater visibility and internationalization of the study of Croatian politics, but also of Croatian political science in general.

История развития гендерных исследований в России через анализ дискурсов их предметных полей (По материалам анализа word-nets и word-clouds)

Author(s): Marina Aleksandrovna Kashina,Sergey Tkach / Language(s): Russian Issue: 3/2022

Gender studies are a new expanding interdisciplinary area of Russian socio-humanitarian thought. There are many review articles that describe certain areas of gender studies. However, there are still no works in which the nature and direction of the evolution of gender studies, considering the dynamics of the discourses of their subject fields, are analyzed. The main hypothesis of this study: the trajectory of the development of the discourses of Russian gender studies can be described as a tendency to expand in breadth. The concept of gender has not yet exhausted its explanatory potential in relation to Russian reality. Sample: 1716 titles of scientific articles by Russian gender researchers published between the early 1990s and 2021. Methods: digital (machine) technologies for natural language analysis, namely the bigrams function of the NLTK library, qualitative text analysis. Results. There are two trends in the development of Russian gender studies: 1) women’s studies are inferior in popularity to gender studies at the turn of the century, but regain it in the 2010s; 2) crystallization points at the institutional stage of development of gender studies are: at first disciplinary terms (“anthropological”, “pedagogical”, “sociological”, “psychological”, etc.), and then — general humanitarian ones (“communication”, “movement”, “modern”, etc.). This indicates a certain blurring of the subject field of gender studies. There is the desire of researchers to move away from the political agenda of gender inequality to more neutral topics, for example, social work, family, parenthood, and psychological well-being. One of the reasons for this is the pressure of the external circuit, which requires both the constant legitimization of the term “gender” and the proof of its need for the analysis of Russian reality.

Organization of an Inclusive Educational Environment for the Students with Special Needs

Author(s): Halyna Bilavych,Nataliia Bakhmat,Mykola Pantiuk,Borys Savchuk,Tetiana Pantiuk / Language(s): English Issue: 6/2022

The article analyzes the communicative activity of those students who have difficulties in mental development, as a condition for organizing an educational environment for children with special needs. It was concluded that the inability to communicate with school peers, teachers, and adults affects the organization of an inclusive educational environment (hereinafter – IES) for children with special educational needs (hereinafter – SEN). An example of creating an IES in an elementary school is offered. Specific difficulties that hinder the development of communication (communicative skills) among children aged 7 – 10 with limited health opportunities have been identified. The importance of game activities in the process of organizing an educational space for children with special needs is emphasized. An original author's method of formation of communication skills of students with SEN is proposed, which was based on the key provisions of the pedagogical system of the Italian scientist, doctor, teacher, civic activist, and organizer of educational institutions around the world M. Montessori. Creating an inclusive educational space for children with special needs, we programmed situations where students would develop self-care skills (dressing and undressing, changing shoes, cleaning, dusting, sweeping, taking care of flower pots, taking care of flower beds). Educational materials developed by M. Montessori were shown to the children. The teaching methods proposed by the scientist were also updated. The author's method of formation of communicative skills of students with SEN provided for various forms and methods of learning, both traditional and innovative (project activity, competitions, dramatization, discussion, public performances, didactic games, etc.). The peculiarities of the functioning of the IOP under the conditions of distance learning caused by the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic are characterized. It is emphasized the importance of organizing the game activities of students with SEN as one of the conditions for the successful functioning of IES in the school. The risks posed by online education for children with SEN are highlighted. It was concluded that the process of forming communication skills in students with SEN under the conditions of quarantine restrictions and online learning will become more effective if group work is established (if possible) in the learning process in the classroom and proper pedagogical assistance is provided to the student with SEN at home.

Author(s): Teodora Varbanova,Nikolay Netov,Albena Vutsova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2022

The accelerated implementation of information and communication technologies in all areas of public development requires in-depth studies of its effects at both national and global level. As education is one of the sectors most influenced by these trends, the need for systematic research on the application of digital technologies in the educational process is becoming increasingly apparent nowadays. In this context, the study presents an attempt to compare the level of use of e-services in education and other public sectors, also identifying the main target groups of users. The results of an author's empirical study are presented, which analyzes the state of the educational environment in Bulgaria, the use of information and communication technologies and their impact on it. The challenges in introducing digital education as well as the factors for their sustainable implementation in Bulgaria are also outlined. Based on the analysis are derived the types of educational e-applications offered, their quality, trends in their use, as well as the most typical groups of users of this type of education in Bulgaria.
