Vaiko teisių įgyvendinimo galimybės vaikų dienos centruose

Vaiko teisių įgyvendinimo galimybės vaikų dienos centruose

Author(s): Vida Gudžinskienė,Rita Raudeliūnaitė,Rokas Uscila / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 1/2016

As economic and cultural changes proliferate in our society, there is an increasing number of families the functioning of which disrupted – they are called social risk families. Social risk families are dominated by such negative factors as alcohol consumption, violence, negligence, failure to comply with societal norms, which are observed by growing up children everyday. Gradually children growing up in social risk families become socially injured and need exceptional assistance. In order to assist socially injured children children’s day care centres are established, one of the functions of which is to implement children’s rights. The objective of the study: to theoretically and empirically validate the possibilities of children’s day care centres to implement children’s rights. The subject of the study – the possibilities of children’s rights which are implemented in children’s day care centres. The methods of the study: theoretical methods –the analysis of scientific literature, documents. Empirical methods – a questionnaire survey (instrument – questionnaire), which was aimed at collecting information on the implementation of socially injured children’s rights attending children’s day centres. 255 children, who attend day centres in rural areas, participated in the study. The age limit of children is not less than 14 years and not more than 18 years and parents of whom gave permission that their child could participate in the study. Such children’s age span was chosen, taking into consideration the fact that the children of such age are sufficiently mature and able to adequately express their opinion(the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989), G. M. Biegel (2009). The statistical methods of data analysis: descriptive statistics (the analysis of a frequency distribution), Spearman’s correlation coefficient.

Priešmokyklinio ir pradinio mokyklinio amžiaus vaikų gebėjimas vertinti paaiškinimų kokybę

Author(s): Aušra Daugirdienė,Agnė Brandišauskienė,Danguolė Endriuškienė / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 4/2016

Explanations about the surrounding world are of particular significance for children since it is a way for them to learn and cognise the environment. However, Legare (2014) maintains that little is known about the impact of explanations on learning. For the past decade, explanations have been one of the major themes in the studies of cognitive psychology. They aim at answering the key questions: what is the nature of the phenomenon (explanation), what is it composed of, what are its quality criteria, how is it constructed and perceived by children (Lombrozo, 2006). Hence, the aim of the current paper is to explore the ability of pre-school and primary school children to assess the quality of explanations. The aforesaid aim was posed in accordance with the methodology developed by the authors (the methodology was designed with reference to the study of Baum, Danovitch, and Keil (Baum et al., 2008). The research involved 61 children: 20 pre-school children, and 41 primary school children (21 children of the second grade, and 20 children of the fourth grade respectively). The main conclusions of this research are: – children’s ability to assess the quality of explanations increases from pre-school age to the second grade of primary school, yet at this period, it remains unchanged (from the second to fourth grade);

Fears of Visually Impaired Pre-School Children and Their Parents

Fears of Visually Impaired Pre-School Children and Their Parents

Author(s): Vytautas Gudonis,Irena Kaffemanienė,Liuda Radzevičienė,Egidijus Elijošius,Yevhenii Klopota / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2017

The article analyses the fears of preschool age children, with visual impairment, and the fears of their parents. It was aimed to define whether the fears of preschool age children, with vision problems, differ from the fears of the same age children, with no vision problems. The hypothesis was formed that the parental childhood fears can be transmitted to their mature age, and present fears can be transmitted to their children. The results of the research revealed such tendencies as follows: the participating in the research preschool age children, with vision problems, do not have any exceptional fears, comparing to the children of the same age but with no vision problems; the larger number of fears reflected in those children, whose parents have a high educational level, comparing to the parents, with a lower educational level; children from incomplete families have more fears; mothers used to have less fears in childhood than they have now; the fears, children and some parents have, might have been transmitted from parents to children.

Curriculum formavimo bruožai ir tėvų globos netekusių vaikų ugdymo aspektai Lietuvoje XVIII a. pab. – XIX a. pr.

Author(s): Vilius Šadauskas / Language(s): Lithuanian Issue: 2/2018

Regardless of the current interest in parenting, socialization, custody and other forms of parental care it must be noted that there is still a research shortage of the child care system, the curriculum content and the education process, that would analyse phenomenon in retrospective and reveal the real impact of education system development to the successful socialization of children deprived of parental care in Lithuania. Even if specific interdisciplinary, educational or historical research on the development of the education system in Lithuania can be presented, the aspects of the education of children deprived of parental care are still not disclosed qualitatively and comprehensively. Because of that the article discusses the state of the education system of the end of 18th century – beginning of 19th century Lithuania, based on theories of education science and published sources of educational history while aiming to characterize the main factors influencing formation of the formal curriculum.

Let Me Tell You: Experiences with Silent Books in a Framework of Early Literacy

Author(s): Elena Guichot-Muñoz,Giulia De Sarlo,Elena Ledesma-Gobea / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

This paper focuses on an experiment with Silent Books with 27 Spanish kindergarten children. Through a qualitative ethnographic methodology based on a multimodal analysis, we study the response to the self-managed reading of Silent Books given by a class group and, specifically, by five students, both in the classroom and at home. The analysis of the results highlights a drastic increase in the motivation towards books and the activation of a series of cognitive precursors.

Экстраполяция понятий как фактор, влияющий на эпистемически корректное выстраивание глоссария педагогики

Экстраполяция понятий как фактор, влияющий на эпистемически корректное выстраивание глоссария педагогики

Author(s): Andrey Vyacheslavovich Korzhuev,Albina Rifovna Sadykova,Yulia Borisovna Ikrennikova,Elena Leont'evna Ryazanova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 2/2020

Recent decades have seen intensive extrapolation of concepts belonging to various fields of knowledge to the field of education, which has determined a wide range of problems within educational terminology. The purpose of this article is to identify the specifics of extrapolation of concepts as a factor contributing to the appropriate epistemic development of education glossary. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted using the following methods (1) reviewing a number of international, refereed studies into the issues of glossaries within various fields of knowledge; (2)revealing and summarizing the criteria for the epistemic appropriateness of terminology within social sciences and humanities; (3) identification of factors contributing to epistemically normalized development of education glossary; (4) development of a theoretical project devoted to appropriate “educational borrowings” of terms and clichés from other fields of knowledge. Results. Using a grounded theory approach, the article categorizes positive and negative outcomes of the extrapolation of the concepts belonging to various fields of knowledge to education. The authors introduce a theoretical criterion of “appropriate terminological extrapolation” constructed as a synthesis of the following stylistically expressed requirements: ‘correspondence between secondary and original interpretation of meanings’, ‘integration of the extrapolated concept in the field of education’, and ‘constructive and creative focus’. Conclusions. The study identified the following criteria for appropriate extrapolation of terminology: (1) correspondence between “educational focus” of the term extrapolated from other fields and its original meaning; (2) integration of the borrowed term in the field of education; (3) new meaning and capacity to function and reveal meaning components in the field of education; (4) possibility of the term to be integrated in the constructive development of education.

Religious Literary Works for Children in the Teaching Process

Religious Literary Works for Children in the Teaching Process

Author(s): Larisa Ileana Casangiu,Claudia Simona Popa / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2020

The present article reiterates our older concerns about the literature studied in public kindergartens and schools. Romania is a country that was declared orthodox in an overwhelming proportion (according to the 2011 Census, 86.45% of the population declared themselves Orthodox, of which 59% pray frequently). However, it also has many other praying Christians, 96% of the Romanians having declared that they believe in God, so we consider that the research we carry out on the religious literature for children is justified. We also point out that the concept of religious literature for children involves certain dynamics. We operate a taxonomy within this field of children’s literature and discuss each identified category in terms of the opportunity of its institutionalized study. We pay special attention to the psalms. Without overlapping with the school subjects of Religion or Communication in Romanian / Romanian language and literature, the independent study of Psalms by children can be appropriately oriented directed by a teacher (teacher for primary education and / or teacher of Romanian language and literature / religion), both in selecting the texts, and especially in aiming at the understanding of contents, often loaded with meanings in the depth structure of the writing and, sometimes, with figures of speech. At the same time, we present the framework for which a teacher (in preschool and primary education) can use religious literature as a didactic support of the activities, as long as he / she is not specialized in teaching religion. Specification: The number specified for each Psalm corresponds to the Romanian numbering. When we took over the translation of certain psalms, we specified that number

A Research on Schools as Learning Organizations: A Theoretical Approach

A Research on Schools as Learning Organizations: A Theoretical Approach

Author(s): Gabriela Alina Paraschiva,Anca Draghici,Constanţa-Valentina Mihăilă / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2019

Due to the growing pressures on the educational area to provide young people with the knowledge and skills needed to live and work in a constantly changing society and the technologies and trades that today do not exist, the model of learning organization has been extended to schools, as an attempt to re-conceptualize them from organizations that are traditionally linked to the learning and knowledge process to organizations that are capable of responding with efficiency to uncertain and dynamic environments. The purpose of this paper is to identify the state of affairs in the Romanian educational system (pre-university level) in order to provide a starting point for the implementation of the ‘school as a learning organization’ concept and model. The approach is theoretical, using desk research of regulations and data regarding the public expenditure in education, per capita funding, number of pupils enrolled, PISA results and correlations between the action-oriented dimensions (including their key characteristics/elements) of the model proposed by Kools & Stoll (2017) and the performance indicators (including descriptors) that are used at the Romanian national level. Results show that, between 2009 and 2018, school organizations were under increasing pressure and the implementation of this concept and model at system level could be an opportunity to focus on students from the organizational side, having the determined correlations as a foundation.

Anne-Baba İlgisinin Çocukların Okul Başarısı Üzerindeki Etkisi

Author(s): Turhan Şengönül / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 04/2019

The aim of this article is to examine the related research literature conducted on the relationship between parental involvement in education and children’s academic achievement. Researchers have suggested that parental involvement influences the academic performance of students at kindergarten, primary school, secondary school as well as high school. Parental involvement is defined in terms of various factors such as discipline or the process of socializing and parenting children in the household, parental aspirations and expectations for children’s education and academic achievement, communication, discussions about school, and participation in school activities. Parents discuss school activities with children, monitor, check and help with their homework, communicate with teachers, attend school functions and parent-teacher conferences in order to ensure better academic performance of their children. They expect and aspire for their children to have higher rates of educational attainment and higher academic achievement. These educational expectations and aspirations of parents are positively associated with academic achievement of children.

RESİMLİ HİKÂYE KİTAPLARINDA SÖZEL MİZAH UNSURLARI

Author(s): Rabia Dirican,Hatice Bekir,Vedat Bayraktar / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 29/2020

It was aimed with the current study to investigate the suitability of the verbal humour elements in the picture story books written by Turkish writers to the humour development of preschool students. The evocatory nature of humour its contribution to child development and the lack of researches in this field make the study significant. In the study which was planned in descriptive design out of qualitative research methods, document analysis was used. The working group of the study was made up of 67 picture story books with a humorous content in Turkish language written between the years 2008 and 2018. The data in the research was obtained using “The Investigation Form of the Humorous Content Taking Place in the Picture Books for Children”. This form was made up of three sub-dimensions as visual humour, verbal humour and casual humour, 45 items in total. As the picture story books were just investigated verbally in the current study, only the verbal humour element which was made up of twenty categories in the form was used. Depending on the results of the research, it was found that preschool period children focused on verbal humour elements in the picture story books suitable for their humorous developments. In some picture story books, it was partly found that some verbal humour elements suitable for the humorous development of children at the age of seven and over, which is not suitable for the humour development of preschool students were given.

The aim of the article is to present the achievements of the employees of the Department of Early Childhood Education and Media Pedagogy in mathematical education over forty years of its functioning. Mathematics is a particularly important area of teaching a young child, which builds the basis for later education and largely determines its success or failure. It is a subject that is difficult by its very nature, and its hierarchical structure means that each element must be well mastered. That is why it is so important to train the teachers of kindergarten and primary education so that they can build a good basis for teaching this subject.
