Author(s): Yanka Koeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2019

The current empirical study aims to explore students‘ attitudes towards entering the teaching profession. Through anonymous surveys the opinions of the trainees about the pre-graduate pedagogical practice they have done are summarized and analyzed – what skills do they acquire, what are their recommendations, do they feel prepared to work as teachers, do they intend to commit themselves to the profession and what are their future professional expectations of their work as teachers. Recommendations are made to handle problems in pedagogical practice and build professional competence.

Родителски тренинг, специфициран на базата възраст на детето

Author(s): Teodora Stoycheva Stoeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2022

The article addresses the issue of parenting training related to improving parenting skills and reducing ineffective parenting practices. Based on a study of parenting styles leading to emotional and behavioral disorders in children and adolescents, recommendations are made for educating parents based on the age of their children. For children, the results show that emotional neglect, overt rejection, authoritarianism, and punishment are important for the onset of emotional and behavioral disorders. This determines the need for parents to apply supportive and guiding strategies in their behavior towards their children. For adolescence, the results show that authoritarianism, punishment, lack of empathy, and lack of cooperation are important for the emergence of emotional and behavioral problems. This determines the need for the parent to effectively implement not only the supportive and guiding strategy, but also the cooperation strategy. The article also addresses the issue of individual counseling of the parent, which aims to activate his reflexive ego and develop a meta-position regarding the deep roots of his own behavior.

Evaluarea logopedică la început de an școlar. Model de fișă de evaluare logopedică și aplicații

Author(s): Claudia Doinita Gherlea,Daciana Panțiru / Language(s): Romanian Issue: 2/2021

The aim of this paper was to illustrate the approach of speech and language asssessment developed within the Interschool Speech Therapy Centers in Romania (Centrele Logopedice Interșcolare), at the beginning of the school year, in a pandemic context. It presents the initial evaluation of students and preschoolers, but also the way in which the complex evaluation of children identified with speech and language disorders is developed, fallowing the legislation and specific methodology. The Speech and Language Evaluation Scale is a very useful tool at this stage and beyond. This helps to condense the relevant data about children, to formulate the speech therapy diagnosis and to outline the therapeutic approach. The developed model addresses both aspects of psychomotor development and aspects of pronunciation and articulation. It is designed mainly for primary school students, but can also be applied to preschoolers. The presented case study is intended to highlight the way this model can be used, at various stages, in a specific intervention strategy.

PERMA модел за стимулиране на образователните постижения на децата и учениците от XXI в.

Author(s): Sevil Ivanova,Mihail Nenov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2022

The study follows the process of setting up the first newly established Bulgarian public school in the 21st century and the development of an innovative educational model that addresses the challenges of personal development in the context of digital transformation and the professions of the future. The design of educational solutions takes into account the current trends in soft skills and an integrated set of knowledge aimed at identifying and solving problems in the micro- (individual) and macro (global) context of the person and community in a period of dynamic digitization and robotization of personal and social parameters and their consolidation into business intelligent systems. In solving the above-mentioned challenges we apply the PERMA model of positive psychology and present the ways in which it is realized in: Organizational structure of the school; Building the relationship between stakeholders; Integrated approach to presenting learning content; The set of hardware and software solutions that ensure the implementation of the above two indicators and position the value-based approach in the context of the digital society, expanding the parameters of personal development of professionals, students and their parents into the realms of virtual existence, adding new parameters to the established interpersonal practices and poses new challenges for the administration, training and mental (cognitive and emotional) growth of the context of augmented reality.

Прилагане, адаптиране и важност на иновативния метод саундпейнтинг в предучилищна възраст

Author(s): Desislava Kostova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2022

Using Soundpainting to enhance and reinforce children's knowledge of holidays and custom can become a teacher's perfect weapon. Giving children the basic concepts of the different holidays and customs, and then giving them freedom of improvisation, makes them direct participants in the educational process in a very casual and even fun way for children. Incorporating Soundpainting in pedagogical situations gives the teacher unlimited possibilities to involve children's active participation in the educational process in an intriguing and impressive way. Having fun and learning-by-doing, children will easily remember the changes in nature, time-honoured traditions and customs, more about professions and their importance in the social way of life, about drawing and creativity. The main point here is that each teaching situation can become an unforgettable moment in which each child feels unique, unleash their creativity while experiencing each skill and knowledge through their own prism and rationality.

Wykorzystanie metody Kids’ Skill – Dam Radę! Bena Furmana w terapii dzieci z jąkaniem w wieku przedszkolnym i wczesnoszkolnym

Author(s): Maria Faściszewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 10/2022

Maria Faściszewska’s aim in this article is to present a therapeutic program which involves the use of Ben Furman’s Kids’ Skills (2010) method in the therapy of pre- and early-school stuttering children. The method is based on the Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), as well as the Ericksonian therapies, systemic and narrative (Furman, 2010). Currently, speech and language therapists are increasingly drawing on the Solution Focused Brief Therapy when working with individuals with a variety of communication disorders including stuttering (Fourlas, Ntourou, 2021; Kelman, Nicholas, 2020; Nicholas, 2015). When discussing the 15 steps of Ben Furman’s Kids’ Skills method and discussing the questions asked by a therapist and the techniques used, Faściszewska examines how this approach can be adapted to children who stutter. The key idea of Kids’ Skills method is that we can interpret a child’s problems in terms of their lack of certain skills which can be acquired. The aim of the method is to encourage and help the child to learn a new skill, while reinforcing the skills they already have, to help them overcome their difficulties. The program is firmly based on a cooperation with the child’s closest social circle: their parents, their siblings, and the school. The therapy for pre- and early-school age children who stutter should integrate cognitive, behavioral, and affective components. The program outlines how the Kids’ Skills method can be used in four key areas of working with a stuttering child. These areas are: 1. Being open about stuttering; 2. Using techniques/strategies to control stuttering; 3. Communicating effectively; 4. Understanding and dealing with feelings, reactions, and beliefs associated with stuttering. This method allows for a great deal of flexibility and adaptation to the needs of pre- and early-school stuttering children and their parents/carers. However, the therapist must have an adequate understanding of the Kids’ Skills method, of the difficulties that may occur, of the emotions experienced by stutterers and their families. Experience in using different therapeutic methods with stuttering children is also required.

STEM образователни практики за българския учител

Author(s): Marieta Hristova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2022

In 2021, through the National program “Building a School STEM environment”, the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science financed the construction of school centers with a focus on STEM. Projects for building STEM centers in schools were financed in two categories: small (up to 50,000 BGN) and large (up to 300,000 BGN). 150 Bulgarian schools already have built or are currently building a modern base for preparing students for 21st century skills have been funded thus far. Naturally, the question for training the teachers for working in new learning environment arises, both from a technical point of view and in terms of the educational resources that are to be used. The article provides a brief overview of the digitization process of the Bulgarian schools in two directions – administrative and methodological, examines the challenges in front of the teachers when building scenarios for a STEM lesson, provides a brief overview of the materials that would be useful when teaching the content and analyzes the challenges and difficulties they face in building scenarios for a STEM lesson.

STEM в класната стая (ролята на технологиите и играта като част от образователния процес)

Author(s): Iva Grigorova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2022

STEM is an education acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, but STEM education extends beyond these technical fields and is an integral part of our daily lives. In recent years, the importance of STEM learning in the classroom to prepare today's students for their future realization is of great significance, but it will grow more and more and it is important to introduce it at an early school age. The purpose of this article is to show how technology and gamification can be successfully integrated into the learning process of students from the primary stage of education to develop skills they will need in the future and in their lives outside the classroom. As a result of technological progress and expanding the boundaries of artificial intelligence, technological resources such as programmable toys are becoming smarter and more accessible to users, making them a powerful tool in the hands of the modern teacher. With their help, in combination with the game approach in teaching topics from the field of STEM sciences, children of this age very quickly, subconsciously and without significant effort develop their creativity, logical and algorithmic thinking. The possibilities that this combination gives us are limitless and allow students, in a fun and understandable way, to reach new depths of the world that surrounds them, stimulate their curiosity and interest in the field of STEM sciences and make them more prepared about the unknowns of the future. This is an effective way to inspire children to innovate into adulthood.

At the beginning of the 90s of the 20th century, the school system of Bulgaria implemented a strategy of student self-government through the Student Council. The goal is for students to actively participate in school life. The proposed management system aims to give a different insight to the new generation. The article examines from a psychologist's point of view the problems that different generations face in our common life path. The goals and brief strategy of our high school are presented in order to achieve maximum results in relations, guidelines and perspective in the growth of generation Z. Our main task that we have set ourselves is that our students become not only good specialists in their professions, but also good people. In this dynamic age, teachers and their students need to find an intersection for proper communication, understanding and problem solving in various situations. Efforts should be made to give clear signals when setting various tasks. At “Vasil Levskiˮ Secondary School, we have high goals so that our high school graduates can be competitive on the labor market. We strive to achieve all this through student management at all levels.

Lessons Learned from Forced ERT (Emergency Remote Teaching) Caused by Covid-19: The Experience of Heads of Nursing Education Institutions

Lessons Learned from Forced ERT (Emergency Remote Teaching) Caused by Covid-19: The Experience of Heads of Nursing Education Institutions

Author(s): Rachel Kemelman,Daniela Cojocaru / Language(s): English Issue: 78/2022

The aim of papers is to describe and discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the traditional approach in undergraduate nursing education in Israel. The lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic forced an abrupt transformation from the face-to-face educational approach to ERT (Emergency Remote Teaching) in tertiary education in general and in undergraduate nursing education in particular. The current research was part of a mixed-method doctoral study that explored the implementation of a new nursing core curriculum mirroring social change in Israel. This particular section was based on in-depth interviews of 14 heads of nursing schools and nursing departments in colleges and universities. The content data analysis was performed on in-depth interviews. The interviews were conducted between March 2019-January 2021, after the release of the draft version of the new nursing core curriculum. Half of the interviews were completed after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, and so relevant to the current discussion. These interviews included additional questions about the transformation to ERT and adjustments for this made in nursing education institutions. The content analysis revealed the theme that exposed the different ways that nursing education programs in Israel were managed during the COVI-19 pandemic. Findings are presented and analyzed. The categories emerging from this theme related to different coping patterns with ERT, consequences, coping with clinical practice challenges and with online examinations and lessons learned. The paper discussed the impact and the perceived necessity of various online platforms. The findings demonstrate that Israeli nursing educators learned to overcome the main barriers to distance learning. This process was largely engendered by the COVID-19 pandemic that forced them to face and manage the situation. The lessons learned equipped them with valuable tools to adjust nursing education to 21st-century demands.
