Властите именице као лакуне на плану руског језика и проблем њиховог превођења на српски језик

Властите именице као лакуне на плану руског језика и проблем њиховог превођења на српски језик

Author(s): Violeta P. Džonić / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 5/2012

Taking as a starting point the fact that the lacuna has occupied the attention of researchers not only from the basic lexical aspect, but also from that of word-formation, morpho-syntactic, phraseologico-paroemiologic and stylistic, as well as in terms of lexicographic and translational problems created in the contact of both related and non-related languages, the author claims that the issue of proper names manifested as a lacuna also demands a thorough linguistic analysis, which is at the core of this paper dealing with the lacuna within the range of Serbian and Russian language respectively. The cultural-historical background and socio-traditional specificity of the lacuna are viewed through the prism of proper nouns in contemporary Russian language (bearing in mind the problems of transposing them into contemporary Serbian language). The analysis is done on proper nouns and toponyms only, with other noun groups being discussed in general.

СУПИН В КАЗАНСКОМ ЕВАНГЕЛИИ XIV ВЕКА

СУПИН В КАЗАНСКОМ ЕВАНГЕЛИИ XIV ВЕКА

Author(s): Nataliya Gennadyevna Nikolaeva,Anton Ermoshin / Language(s): Russian Issue: 5-6/2019

The paper analyzes the supine functioning in the Kazan Gospel, an ancient lectionary of the 14th century. The study aims to establish general patterns in the supine use, the description of its phonetic appearance, and the influence of the latter on the morphology, as well as in the gradual replacement of the supine with an infinitive. The focus of the study is the supine and its syntactical relations in the context. The research was performed with the help of simultaneous description of the phenomenon of historical grammar of the Russian language in a certain period and diachronic observation of this phenomenon in a number of similar texts, as well as linguistic methods of gospel textual studies. We revealed the signs of supine as a vanishing form (variations in different Gospel manuscripts, replacement with the infinitive, replacement with personal verb forms, errors in its use) and, thus, confirmed: firstly, the period when the text of the Kazan Gospel was written (no later than the end of the 14th century); secondly, the mixed nature of its text, namely apparent preservation of Old Slavonic protograph features followed by the evident text russification. The results obtained are important for the historical grammar of the Russian language and for the textology of the Old Slavic gospels.

Преформулативни конектори резимирања (сажимања) у француском и српском језику

Преформулативни конектори резимирања (сажимања) у француском и српском језику

Author(s): Anđela D. Vasiljević / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 21/2020

This paper deals with the contrastive analysis of one particular type of reformulative non-paraphrastic connectives in French and Serbian. Given that connectives represent an important phenomenon of both textual cohesion and coherence, we try to identify different values and properties of so-called ”recapitulative” connectives (according to C. Rossari’s classification). First, we propose a theoretical framework about the evolution of transphrastic and textual studies in the past few decades. Our research is based on а qualitative and a contrastive analysis of the examples extracted from the monolingual and parallel corpus of French and Serbian. Moreover, in the central part of the paper, we outline the similarities and differences between morphological and semantic structures of French recapitulative connectives bref, en un mot, en résumé, en somme and their Serbian correspondents. Finally, the main purpose of such work is to provide several possibilities of translation into Serbian of the mentioned connectives, while taking into consideration eventual syntactic, stylistic or pragmatic constraints.

The innovative North—the morphosyntactic makeup of Northern

The innovative North—the morphosyntactic makeup of Northern English features

Author(s): Agnieszka Kocel / Language(s): English Issue: 34/2020

The purpose of the article is to show the Northern English dialect as a complex creation dependent on various geographical, cultural and social factors responsible for its fluidity and changeable nature. Its strong tendencies towards developing new linguistic solutions are considerably manifested in the morphological and syntactic system which since the very beginning has been subject to alternations, sometimes affecting even other English dialects. The analysis of such areas as nominal and verbal inflection, pronouns, definite articles, auxiliaries, and irregular verbs, makes it tempting to notice certain regular patterns aimed at introducing modern, more economical and thus improved linguistic models. The character and motivation of these novel creations is at times perplexing and calls for arguments not only from historical linguistics, but also geographical and perceptual dialectology as well as functional and evolutionary theories. What is beyond any doubt, however, is that as a result of those new solutions the Northern dialect has become a special sociolinguistic construct whose specific morphosyntactic makeup reveals a unique and innovative dimension defining the North both of the past and of today.

Author(s): Amina Šiljak-Jesenković / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 46/1997

On the basis of different examples of set collocations known of in the Bosnian and Turkish languages, this paper tries to bring some observations on the transfer of the meaning of Turkish set collocations into the Bosnian language. Introđuction, in addition to definitions of idioms and other set collocations, deals with the issues encountered when transferring them from one linguistic system into the other. Although definitions of such idioms point out the fact that they are untranslatable into other languages, given here are numerous examples of Turkish set collocations taken over by the Bosnian language and adapted phonetically and phonologically, adapted partially or in kalk. Phonetically-phonologically adapted Turkish collocations in the Bosnian language are marked as a characteristic of a speech community. The example of the expression bašum sagosum points to its use in this form, and to develop new meanings in its kalk in the Bosnian language. The author gives some notes , too, about possible translations of some Turkish set collocations from everyday communication, drawing attention to different possibilities of interpretation o f the same collocation, depending on the speech situation. Also, some curses and blessings in the Turkish language can be called idioms. Some of them, if literally translated, lose their meaning, while in the description of the meaning they lose their metaphoricalness. There are also examples that show possibilities of kalking these idioms, as well as transferring their meanings by stylistically and semantically close forms in the Bosnian language. Here have been recorded examples of Bosnian idioms with Turkish lexical corpus constituents, motivated by social relations, general experience or belief. On the basis of a large number of examples of synonymous Bosnian and Turkish idioms expressed with the same lexical and grammatical means within the two language systems, the author advances a hypothesis that those kalks are products of languages in contact, and parallel in the Turkish and the Bosnian languages he examines possibilities of varying those idioms within their firm structure. With regard to this, he defines some similarities. He also points out the metaphoricalness of the idioms as their feature.

O PROJEKCIE KORPUSU POLSZCZYZNY DO 1500 ROKU

Author(s): Ewa Deptuchowa,Katarzyna Jasińska,Magdalena Klapper,Dorota Kołodziej / Language(s): Polish Issue: 08/2020

This paper presents the assumptions of the Corpus of Polish until 1500, which is being developed as part of the project titled Baza leksykalna średniowiecznej polszczyzny (do 1500 roku). Fleksja (Lexical Database of Medieval Polish (until 1500). Inflection). It introduces the fundamental objectives of the project, namely preparing an inflectional description of all (inflected) words from the time until 1500 and building a morphosyntactically annotated collection of texts from the same period. Afterwards, the authors discuss the present digital collections of Old Polish texts. In the main part of the paper, they present the criteria for selecting sources for the Corpus under creation and their elaboration methods, which refer to the solutions developed in the Electronic Corpus of Polish Texts from the 17th and 18th centuries (until 1772). Their major modifications aimed to adapt the structural and morphosyntactic annotations for the purpose of describing Mediaeval Polish are discussed on selected examples.

PRILOG PROUČAVANJU KONVERBÂ I KVAZIKONVERBÂ U DJELU KUTADGU BILIG I SAVREMENOME TURSKOM JEZIKU

Author(s): Mirza Bašić,Edina Solak / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 69/2020

The primary objective of this paper is to analyze adverbial groups in Kutadgu Bilig written in Karakhanid Turkish. The semantic structures of the adverbial groups in the poem Kutadgu Bilig are compared to the semantically close adverbial groups in modern Turkish language. An analysis like this represents a very significant contribution to the study of Turkish language from a diachronical perspective. Besides, the paper compares the semantic structures of the converbial and quasi-converbial groups in the poem Kutadgu Bilig with the translation equivalents in Bosnian language, of thus contributing to better comprehension and understanding of the grammatical and semantic structures of Turkish and Bosnian language, which are genetically and typologically different languages. The original language in the paper is Turkish, which implies the fact that the semantic structures of Turkish converbial and quasi-converbial groups are compared to the semantically close adverbial clauses in Bosnian language.

РЕЧЕНИЧНА СТРУКТУРА У ПИСАНОМ ДИСКУРСУ СТУДЕНАТА НА ПОЧЕТНОМ НИВОУ УЧЕЊА СРПСКОГ КАО СТРАНОГ ЈЕЗИКА

Author(s): Marija S. Raković / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 71/2020

The subject of this work is to determine the ways in which students of Serbian as a foreign language, both philologists and non-philologists, construct sentences in written discourse at a beginner level. Our aim is to determine: (1) the sentence structure (simple, expanded, or compound sentences); (2) prepositional phrases of which they are comprised; (3) sentence informativeness; (4) types of word formation sentence constructions; (5) derivation of interrogative and negative sentence forms. The corpus consists of exit tests gathered at the end of the course Serbian as a foreign language at the Center for Serbian as a foreign language at the Faculty of Philology and Arts at the University of Kragujevac. The analysis of the corpus has shown that students of Serbian as a foreign language at a beginner level form simple, but informative sentences to the extent which enables them to complete basic communication processes. We will attempt to give methodical suggestions for the teaching practice which would contribute to the elimination of the errors made in the process of sentence formation, the usage of prepositional phrases, in the first place, and the process of the distribution of lexemes which comprise one sentence structure.

NOVI KROJ STARE TKANINE: TAʻLĪM-I FĀRISĪ I GRAMATIČKI OPIS PERZIJSKOG JEZIKA U OSMANSKOM CARSTVU

Author(s): Munir Drkić,Ahmed Zildžić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 41/2020

This paper aims to examine the work entitled Taʻlīm-i fārisī in the context of the Ottoman tradition of the grammatical study of the Persian language. Taʻlīm-i fārisī, most likely penned by Kemal-pasha, is a short yet exceedingly significant primer for Persian language students dated in the middle of the 19th century. After a brief overview of the Persian grammar studies in the Ottoman Empire, the authors present the work and its author and conduct an analysis of the content of Taʻlīm-i fārisī. In terms of its underlying methodology, this work stands halfway between two principal tendencies: one is the traditional approach to studying the Persian language in the Ottoman Empire; another is a new approach developed under the influence of grammatical description of European languages. This paradigm shift in the Persian language's grammatical description within the Ottoman Empire is readily observable in the primer under review.
