This article aims to discuss the status of the norms of the Koran in the perspective of the sociology of law. This article aims to give an outline and provide a critique about the perspectives in a booklet named as al-adhawiyyah fi’l-ma’ad written by Avicenna. He suggests that the maad or resurrection will be merely spiritual, not corporeal. And he refers three points to support his thesis. Thus his thesis is constructed on three arguments about spiritual resurrection: the argument on which is based on invisible World and argument on material insufficiency and the argument in which he argued that the nafs do not need to the body. By this article it is argued against Avvicenna’s argument on unknown world by reinterpreting it. As a response to the material incompleteness argument it is tried to provide a new interpretation on the resurrection. And the last counter argument is that how the nafs needs to corporeal body in this World, it will need to the body in the life hereafter as well.

The simple words, which have been used in daily life, may seem totally different with aid of the philosophical point of view. In this paper, we shall attempt to examine a word, the concept of habit we often use in daily life and its relation with morality as a practical area in the thoughts of Ibn Sina (Avicenna) and Ravaisson. Both of the thinkers, who were impressed by Aristotle, have assigned the concept of habit a private place in their understandings of morality. The paper, in one respect, shall take on a task to examine the relation between morality and habit

The article presents the character of Brother Józef Żarnowiecki (1913-2003), and aims to preserve the memory of one of the most recognisable characters at the sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. Brother Józef, for more than half of the century, was an ascetic in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska. Due to the secrecy of Brother Józef, not much direct information about him has been gathered. Therefore, the work was based on the publications such as: an article about Kalwarian’s hermits, an interview given by Brother Józef and a documentary titled Pasja [The Passion]. An image of Brother Józef emerges from testimonies of Kalwarian’s pilgrims as well. Their statements provide an additional source of information on how Brother Józef was perceived and what influence he had on others. From the quoted in the article testimonies, we obtain the character of a modest, poor person, traversing Kalwarian’s paths with his head bowed low down, deep in prayer. With his humble attitude, he attracted pilgrims’ attention, who willingly gave him small donations, and asked for prayers for various intentions. In their memory, he primarily remains a silent hermit, “a Kalwarian’s beggar.”

Fundamental theology as a discipline and academic centre conducting research as well as didactic and organisational activity has existed at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin since its beginning, first as Department of Fundamental Theology (1918-20), then Section of Fundamental Theology (1920-99), and since 1999 as Institute of Fundamental Theology. As it has developed, the centre began to take the shape of a school of science – the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology. Its foundations were laid by Rev. Edward Kopeć. Subsequently, it was developed by, among others, Rev. Stanisław Nagy, Rev. Romuald Łukaszyk, Rev. Henryk Zimoń (religious scholar), and especially by Rev. Marian Rusecki (student of Rev. E. Kopeć) – the main co-founder of the school and its most prolific author, whose scientific achievements are the showcase of the school and have influenced the contemporary Polish fundamental theology. During his time, especially from the beginning of the 21st century, the school reported the most significant scientific and organisational achievements. Currently, it is developed by the students of Rev. M. Rusecki who work at the Institute of Fundamental Theology and its graduates working in other centres. This article presents the scientific characteristics (historical outline, features and main trends) of the Lublin School of Fundamental Theology (Section 1) and its most important achievements (Section 2): main publications, organisational achievements as well as national and international cooperation.

Fundamental theology has been practiced at John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin for a hundred years. The researchers conducting the research used methods developed and used by the most important theological centres of science. These included primarily a historical-synthetic method supplemented in ecclesiology with an analytical and empirical method. Over time, these methods were enriched with personalistic, historico-soteriological and semiotic contents. The elements of semiotico-personalist method present in Marian Rusecki’s publications should be considered original and characteristic of the Lublin school. In his research on miracle and some ecclesiological issues, Rusecki uses the theory of sign, giving it a very strong personalist inclination. However, this does not yet constitute a comprehensive and detailed research method, but only its initial outline.

The article presents the achievements of Cardinal Stanisław Nagy in the field of ecclesiology, including the ecumenical context. The main problem is the primacy of the Bishop of Rome as the supreme office in the Catholic Church. The article presents the apologetic argumentation concerning the truthfulness of the Church, called via primatus. It describes the ministry of primacy as the function of St. Peter the Apostle and his successors, conferred upon him by Jesus Christ with the purpose to ensure the unity and permanence of the Church. The article also addresses the problem of ecumenical quest, for which the person of the pope is the most difficult obstacle in the process of unifying Christianity. The last part of the article presents the praxeological aspect of the ministry of primacy in the pontificate of John Paul II.

The article is an elaboration and a critic of certain aspects of the discussion between theology and science with a special respect to its methodological level. I show in the paper that in the domain of natural sciences there is a crucial and substantial evolution of methodology in the terms of scientific explanation, theories of truth, methods of justification of scientific hypotheses, etc. I point on the specific loci where theology can effectively meet science, conserving, however its autonomy and specificity. Modern cosmology is presented as a special case study field for that discussion.
