The main aim of the study was to demonstrate that the material post-industrial heritage can be a factor in economic development through the use of integrated development projects as an important means of reducing legal barriers related to the protection of cultural heritage. Specific objectives were prepared in the following way: 1. The answer to the question whether there was any previously unidentified demand for items of cultural heritage in the form of material post-industrial heritage among different users of the city. 2. Indication of the principles of building an integrated heritage-based product and developing a detailed list of criteria that must be met by heritage objects to be included in the integrated tourist product. 3. Preparation of the list of key objects, which are part of the material post-industrial heritage. 4. Presentation of examples and crucial rules of management the integrated projects combining elements of post-industrial heritage with the identified key aspects. As a leading thesis of dissertation it was assumed that: 1. Cultural heritage of physical industrial heritage is a factor in the development of the city. 2. Existing legal conditions for the protection of cultural heritage and monuments are a limiting factor in the use of industrial heritage for the economic development of the city. 3. Integrated projects are a way of comprehensive utilisation of industrial heritage material for the development of the city. 4. An obstacle to the implementation of integrated development projects are social and excessive political conflicts competition between local government units.

The book presents the influence of cultural factors on people’s attitudes towards their own health and appearance. lnnovative concept of hierarchical organization of gender and culturally detined age and their influence on each other applied in the study allowed for application of a new sociological category, i.e. gendered age. Such an approach gave an opportunity to conduct an in-depth analysis of beliefs, opinions and behaviours of men and women of different ages regarding their own appearance and health. The empirical part of the book presents definitions of femininity and masculinity used by people in different age groups young, middle-aged and elderly. There was also characterized the level of respondents’ awareness of the influence of gender, age and gendered age on their appearance and health. Moreover, the nowadays of growing importance concept of human capital was used, in which health and appearance are defined as its resources. The book enhances general knowledge about the gender determinants of social phenomena and falls into such fields as gender studies, gender sociology, sociology of the body and health. lt is addressed not only to scientists - sociologists, anthropologists, cultural scientists, psychologists or physicians, but also to people interested in the issues discussed.

W prezentowanej publikacji przedstawiono dzieje skryptorium cystersów w Mogile do początku XVI w. Autorzy jako źródło do tych dziejów analizują powstałą w środowisku klasztornym w początkach XVI w. kronikę Mikołaja z Krakowa, która zawiera m.in. bogaty przekaz o skrybach oraz o efektach twórczości pisarskiej. W części II czytelnicy znajdą imienną listę osób pracujących w skryptorium XIII do XVI w. i odtworzony katalog ich dzieł. Autorzy zrekonstruowali ich życiorysy, zwłaszcza dane dotyczące wykształcenia, pochodzenia, aktywności naukowej, dydaktycznej, poglądów. Na podstawie przebadanych źródeł omawiają nie tylko dzieje opactwa, ale i charakter, organizację oraz rolę skryptorium klasztornego, przedstawiając przy tym nowe ustalenia badawcze, np. o funkcjonowaniu już w XIII w. dwóch specjalistycznych kręgów pisarzy dokumentowych i kodeksowych. Obecne opracowanie (wydanie pierwsze i drugie) należy traktować jako zapowiedź szerszej i pełnej pozycji. Następne ukażą się po udostępnieniu i zbadaniu całego klasztornego archiwum. Zgodnie z dalszymi planami, celem autorów pozostaje opracowanie i wydanie drukiem pełnej monografii skryptorium do początków wieku XVI. Wraz ze wzrostem zainteresowania badaniami skryptoriów niniejsza książka z pewnością zachęci, szczególnie młodych badaczy, do zgłębiania losów bibliotek i skryptoriów średniowiecznych klasztorów.

This publication presents an overview of the implementation of the LEADER approach and Community-Led Local Development in Poland. The authors discusses the theoretical background of the transformation of rural areas development policy, and presents the essence and the key characteristics of the LEADER approach, its origin, and different models of its implementation in European countries. They also concentrate on the participation principle, perceived as a one of the most important principles of territorial development and evaluate the previous activity of selected local action groups formed in Poland in the context of implementing the innovation principle. In this publication readers can also find discussion related to the implementation of Community-Led Local Development approach in Poland, based on the experiences of the LEADER approach. The authors hope that the publication will attract the interests of foreign readers (also non-academic readers) who are interested in the experiences of implementing the LEADER approach in Poland, and thus in the determinants of implementing Community-Led Local Development, not only in rural areas.

Although there has been vivid academic debate as to what extent Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs) are motivated by political reasons, it is rather clear that countries can use state-owned investment funds as a tool of their foreign policy. Even Barack Obama, during his initial presidential campaign in 2008 commented: “I am obviously concerned if these… sovereign wealth funds are motivated by more than just market consideration and that’s obviously a possibility”. This book looks at SWF activities in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) to determine the main motives for SWF presence in CEE. Are the potential financial gains the only reason behind their investments? Are SWF activities in the region dangerous for the stability and security of the CEE countries? W dobie globalizacji innowacje stały się dla przedsiębiorstw podstawowym sposobem na osiągnięcie przewagi konkurencyjnej i poprawę efektywności działania. Wprowadzani e innowacji zatem to warunek konieczny dla rozwoju każdego przedsiębiorstwa, jednak w przypadku małych i średnich podmiotów wdrażanie nowych rozwiązań jest nierzadko warunkiem na ich przetrwanie. O skali prowadzonej działalności innowacyjnej decyduje potencjał innowacyjny przedsiębiorstwa, rozumiany jako zdolność do efektywnego wprowadzani a innowacji. Zarówno poziom, jak i stopień wykorzystani a owego potencjału uzależniony jest od szeregu determinant, zlokalizowanych w otoczeniu podmiotu (zarówno dalszym, jak i bliższym), a także w jego wnętrzu (wiedza, zasoby ludzkie, finansowe i rzeczowe).
