Previous studies revealed that ethnocentric consumers are more willing to purchase a domestic product. Furthermore, country-of-origin has a direct impact on consumers’ decision to buy a product in such a manner that a positive country image can substitute other missing qualities of the product. On the other hand, a strong brand is not expected to compensate for a negative country-of-origin perception. Many brands rely on their home country as a warranty for quality and prestige, in order to gain consumers’ interest and attention. This paper examines the moderating role of variables such as perceived quality, ethnocentrism and familiarity in determining a consumer to buy a domestic product. Through exploratory research, this study aims to investigate to what extent Romania, as country-of-origin for its local products, influences consumers’ decision making process. The major contributions of the study consist of identifying the elements that play a role in consumers’ product evaluation based on the country-of-origin and to improve the understanding of country image effects on the buying intention.

The article deals with the use of modern forms of marketing that have been gaining popularity in recent years with significant groups of cyberspace users. The power of viral marketing and viral campaigns is currently gaining momentum, despite the fact that a considerable mass of virtual environment clients often do not realize that they are part of this form of marketing. The success of viral campaigns can be attributed to well-developed strategy for such a campaign. To outline the functioning of various viral campaigns, we selected four specific campaigns that had already entered the virtual environment. A segmented sample of respondents was to evaluate given campaigns, which resulted in the fact that the viewer is often unaware of what is included. Chapter 3 describes the selected campaigns as follows: Dove Real Beauty Sketches, WestJet Christmas Miracle,Coca Cola Unlock the 007 in You and Save the Children – Most Shocking and Second Day Video. 67.3% of carefully segmented respondents admit that they were willing to continue sharing a successful viral campaign. This proves that the potential of viral marketing is enormous. The theme of viral marketing itself is new and constantly evolving.

The article discusses reflexivity as a departure from the canonical event model and examines the distinction between two Polish markers of reflexivity: siebie and się. Both these markers code the direct reflexive situation type but semantically and syntactically they are not always interchangeable. This distinction is explained within Langacker's Cognitive Grammar framework and attributed to the difference in profile, trajector/landmark alignment and construal that these markers impose on a given situation. The article suggests that siebie functions as a nominal reflexive marker, which profiles a thing, and in a reflexive construction stands as the landmark of a relation. Thus siebie imposes the construal of volitio- nality and contrastiveness, and syntactically, it is obligatory as a prepositional complement and after verbs of perception. Się is a relational reflexive, and as such it profiles a relation, and specifies the identity of trajector and landmark of a relation, which become conflated in the single participant, i.e. the referent of the sentence subject. Consequently, the się-constructions are neutral with respect to intentionality of the profiled action, and conceptually simpler than siebie-constructions, which accounts for their higher frequency of occurrence.

Previously, Lampland has maintained that the individualized concepts of time, money, and labour imposed by socialist collectivization bore continuity with pre-socialist agrarian modernization, and were instrumental to the transition to capitalism. In The Value of Labor, she follows expert and policy debates in 1930s work science, and points out their continuities with the institutionalization of the work unit in the Stalinist phase of collectivization. Such continuities contradict the Cold War concept of Stalinist modernization as Soviet models imposed from scratch. Targeting debates in the fields of Science and Technology Studies (STS), history of economics, and Cold War history, Lampland draws three interconnected conclusions: 1) an emphasis on the role of markets in determining the value of labour obscures the historical construction of the knowledge, policy, and material infrastructures that perform its commodification; 2) performativity of economics should also be understood through the history of the material infrastructures of scientific intervention; and 3) the Cold War periodization that separates socialist and capitalist modernization does not stand in face of the historical continuity between pre-socialist and socialist infrastructures of labour commodification.

The task of the hermeneutics of the image is to grasp the sensual emergence of meaning, to describe the conditions of its forming and the possibilities for its un¬derstanding. Gottfried Boehm suggests an answer to the question about sensual sense and formulates the most important aspects of the potential for creation of meaning. This potential is rooted in iconic difference, which manifests itself both through the liberating power of contrast and as a relation between the part and the whole – that is, a relation between transitions, or consecutiveness, and the simulta¬neity of the image. Sensuality, which organises and articulates the pictorial mean¬ing, remains unseen, even elusive – “empty” – though it drives the play of difference and oscillation.

Ovaj tehnološki i znanstveni razvoj je uspostavio nove odnose u društvu u kojima stanovnici moraju učiti živjeti zajedno i provoditi vi¹e vremena nastojeći razumjeti jedni druge.

The author examines the course of the operations of the Brusilov Offensive of summer 1916 in which the 79th Infantry Regiment from Osijek took part, fighting in the Volhynia (German: Wolhynien) region. He covers the military activities from April till August 1916. The Russian breakthrough near Lucko and Okna was Austria-Hungary’s greatest defeat in the war. The cause of the defeat lies not only in the fact that substantial forces had been redeployed for an offensive in South Tyrol, but also in the terrible performance of the Austro-Hungarian corps and army commands, which seemed to have let down their guard after the breakthrough at Gorlice in 1915. Among other things, this work scrutinises the common opinion of certain military analysts that the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian forces rests on the premise that most of the Slavs serving in the Austro-Hungarian Army had come under the influence of pan-Slavic ideas and simply refused to fight their “Russian brothers”. Namely, examination of the Croatian 79th Infantry Regiment (the “Jelačićevci”), which comprised mostly Croats and Serbs and members of the 42nd Home Guard Infantry Division on the southern flank of the front in Bukovina, suggests that this interpretation cannot be accepted without reservations.

Increase of the militaries’ professionalism is, according to the Samuel P. Huntington writings, the way to achieve objective civil control, meaning the way to assure political neutrality of the officers. It is essential for this professionalism to be clearly defined in order to avoid transforming it into a dead word, an empty box, repeated constantly during the official meetings. This paper is introducing a view on the military profession in Romania, noticing significant differences between the theories promoted by different famous authors, the related official documents and the actual perception of certain active officers on this concept. The necessity of a serious analysis regarding the characteristics of the military professionalism is outlined aiming to achieve the civil objective control.

The paper deals with the functioning of if-clauses in mathematical word problems and with their equivalents. First, the nature of a word problem as a text type is shown. Further, the difference between complex sentences with proper implicative-causal relation and a lay use of conditional clauses is examined. As its main goal, the paper presents a comparison of various instances of conditional clauses in mathematics word problems. Also, it shows the role of formulaic stereotypy and conventional assumptions in word problem texts as an integral part of both the mathematical and the communicative competence

The mask is claimed from an „aesthetic of the mystery” as well as from the pure art of art.It is the result of the “aesthetic autocracy” (Mircea Muthu) that generates the disturbing visions of Mateiu Caragiale. The mask is, in this sense, an indication of a fragile sensitivity, which recognizes its lack of mobility and the inability of the land to adapt to reality, committing itself to an overcoming of the concrete through the use of ornament. In the morphology of the mask enters, in different measures, refinement, aestheticizing sense, hedonistic reverie and melancholy. Frustrated by the senses of participating in the spectacle of the world, the mask represents for Mateiu I. Caragiale a subtle secretion of his contemplative and aestheticizing spirit.

The aim of the present study was to show how a journal, intermittently published in the interwar period, succeeds in keeping its touches of stylistic and topical freshness. We have noticed that, strangely, few and irrelevant was written about this journal, not to mention the fact that texts within were quasi-ignored over the years, although they offer an extraordinary, complex and credible image on the Romanian society between the two world wars, an illustration of professions, similar in many respects to the one depicted in Moments and sketches by I.L. Caragiale, another canonical author of Romanian literature. With this study, we try to emphasize that Tudor Arghezi's journal is a receptacle of various texts, in which the many characters are arranged in a network of human typologies that can easily be traced also in the tectonic of the present. The ability of writer to gather this impressive human material has inspired our curiosity. Texts that are the subject of this work have been fully or partially transcribed after scanned copies of ”Bilete de papagal” journal, provided by the digitized documents section of National Library of Romania. Typically, fragments we refer to, or, with a term that made history, the parrot tickets (or Arghezian tablets), which we considered to be representative, appeared on the front page of the journal, in a privileged position, functioning thus as a sort of editorial. Interestingly, Arghezi manages to familiarize the yesterday reader, but also the potential reader of some future time, with the deep semantics of his approach. Texts of this journal can become motivation and support for some thematic, stylistic or semantic analysis. The fact that they have lasted a long time in a state of quasi-latency increases their value and pours on them a new, exciting, light.

No matter how much humanity evolved, one thing is very clear: we cannot control everything that is happening around us, the best example being nature. Many of the phenomena of nature, especially the unpredictable ones, have failed to be controlled by man, which leads to the existence of risks that endanger his goods. The production of such natural events has generated a permanent concern of the people to protect their goods against these risks.Starting from these, it is understandable the intention of the Romanian state to impose on the owners the conclusion of a compulsory insurance having as object all the constructions with the residential destination. The present study discusses the modalities of practical application of the provisions of Law no. 260/2008, as well as its controversies.

This paper aims at revealing the mechanisms governing gender assignment to recent Anglo- American nominal borrowings in German. The integration of loan nouns into one of the three gender classes of the receiving language proves to be, by no means, arbitrary. Gender assignment appears to be governed by two main principles: the word formation rule and the guide word rule. Accordingly, the gender of the new nouns is predictable based on their suffixes, morphemic structure or on the gender affiliation of their German semantic equivalent. Besides, natural gender, phonological regularities and the common cognate may play a marginal role in gender choice. All these principles are grounded on the strategy of linguistic analogy, which provides a motivation – be it of a structural, semantic or phonological type – for the correlation to a gender category.

In this paper we propose to analyze the activities that lead to the development of the library collection (acquisition, selection, deselection, scrapping) in the info-documentary structures of the Romanian pre-university education. The development of library collections does not only mean an increase in the number of documents, but also involves the refreshment and continuous modernization of the collections. We can say, therefore, that the development of the library collections includes all the operations required to ensure the normal growth of the document collection, depending on the dynamics of the printing market, the size of the school library, as well as the constantly growing and changing documentation interests of the beneficiaries. The activities carried out in the school libraries or the Documentary Information Center for the development of the library collections, respect the general characteristic principles of any type of library, principles that refer to the actuality, universality, diversity, specialization and informational modernization of the collection. The development of collections in the info-documentary structures of pre-university education implies the same type of focus from the part of specialists on the interest for information of the beneficiaries as in all types of libraries - either public libraries or university libraries. The differences appear at establishing the criteria for developing the collections, as they are specific for the education system and for its financing and procurement procedures. The four library operations - selection, acquisition, deselection and disposal - are operations aimed on the same purpose: the renewal and permanent development of the documentary funds of the school library/ Documentary Information Center. By renewing and developing the collection in the school library, we aim to fulfill the objectives of the documentary policy, that are related to the clear identification of the users' documentary needs and to provide a complex documentary and informational resources to all categories of beneficiaries, in accordance with the library's mission and without discrimination. of reading requirements and practices.

In this approach the author refers to the research of the horal phenomenon in the geocultural space of the Republic of Moldova starting, directly, from the studies already appeared with reference to the recording of this ethno-folkloric manifestation and following the performance of the folklore phenomenon in situ. Current field research shows that collective memory preserves much more information regarding the development of the phenomenon in the interwar and post-war period, as for the updating of this phenomenon in postmodernity, it is necessary to take a different approach, as there are localities where this custom is not practiced or completely disappeared. However, field investigations have shown that, despite several social, political, ideological factors, there are a number of folk environments that have preserved this folk manifestation, obviously with certain transformations or rehabilitated it during the last decades of state independence. Observing and researching the social, cultural and political factors of resistance to the Soviet ideological regime and urbanization in the post-war period, there were a number of changes in the structure of the oral phenomenon, recorded changes in various stages, redefining the new status and reconsideration. Traditional culture in contemporaneity. The information on the topic proposed for research was synthesized from archival material in the form of manuscripts and audio recordings of ethnographic field research since 1945 initiated by employees of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Moldovan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and continued by researchers of the Institute of Romanian Philology „Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu, thanks to the implementation of the project from the state program „The contextuality of traditional culture in contemporaneity: Village hora in the geo-cultural space of the Republic of Moldova".
