Summary/Abstract: In this approach the author refers to the research of the horal phenomenon in the geocultural space of the Republic of Moldova starting, directly, from the studies already appeared with reference to the recording of this ethno-folkloric manifestation and following the performance of the folklore phenomenon in situ. Current field research shows that collective memory preserves much more information regarding the development of the phenomenon in the interwar and post-war period, as for the updating of this phenomenon in postmodernity, it is necessary to take a different approach, as there are localities where this custom is not practiced or completely disappeared. However, field investigations have shown that, despite several social, political, ideological factors, there are a number of folk environments that have preserved this folk manifestation, obviously with certain transformations or rehabilitated it during the last decades of state independence. Observing and researching the social, cultural and political factors of resistance to the Soviet ideological regime and urbanization in the post-war period, there were a number of changes in the structure of the oral phenomenon, recorded changes in various stages, redefining the new status and reconsideration. Traditional culture in contemporaneity. The information on the topic proposed for research was synthesized from archival material in the form of manuscripts and audio recordings of ethnographic field research since 1945 initiated by employees of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Moldovan branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and continued by researchers of the Institute of Romanian Philology „Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu, thanks to the implementation of the project from the state program „The contextuality of traditional culture in contemporaneity: Village hora in the geo-cultural space of the Republic of Moldova".
