BUJOR NEDELCOVICI - KNIGHT OF MEMORY

BUJOR NEDELCOVICI - CAVALERUL MEMORIEI

Author(s): Annamaria Popa / Language(s): / Issue: 02/2015

Keywords: Bujor Nedelcovici; censorship; communism; literature; confessional

The writer Bujor Nedelcovici was not by chance named The Knight of Memory. His novels, which were designed as a tribute to truth, are used as weapons against oblivion, against moral numbness which governed the Romanian people immediately after the political change in 1989. His literature can be categorised as confessional. For Bujor Nedelcovici, confession is a moral duty, the essay “Eu, Nică şi Securitatea (Un tigru de hârtie)” (“I, Nică and The Security (a paper Tiger)”) and the interviews volume “Cine sunteţi, Bujor Nedelcovici ? Bujor Nedelcovici în dialog cu Sergiu Grigore” (“Who are you, Bujor Nedelcovici? Bujor Nedelcovici in dialogue with Sergiu Grigore”), answer many of the readers’ questions and offer a response regarding the choices made by the author faced with Censorship, in relation to The Security, with the instruments of The Communist regime.

Author(s): Teodor Narcis Godeanu / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2018

Keywords: salary; contract staff; civil servants; dignitaries; legality; equity; efficiency; stability;

The study aims to analyze the Law no. 153/2017 on the remuneration of staff paid out of public funds, highlighting both the positive aspects and especially the deficiencies of the regulation. We have in mind those concerning the subject of regulation, the adoption procedure, the principles governing the salaries of this category of staff, and the established solutions. Correspondingly, we propose to formulate some basic solutions to be considered in the future. This in the context in which such a regulation needs to reveal its vocation to represent a genuine "salary code", to devote solutions that can provide it with efficiency and stability.

Interpreter in the Playground. Learning to Speak the Language of Children

Author(s): Rebeca-Monica Ciupe Laszlo / Language(s): English / Issue: Suppl./2014

Keywords: interpreting; children; the role of the interpreter; communication;

As interpreters, we learn how important it is to take into consideration our audience, its expectations, needs and education. But what if our public were made up of seven-year olds? Wouldn’t that sound easier than addressing a group of scientists? At a first glance, we may consider it a child play, but when faced with this situation one realizes that youngsters can seriously test interpreting skills. This paper seeks to portray the challenges of interpreting for children and is primarily based on first-hand experience in interpreting for children. We will be focusing on the peculiarities of interpreting for children – the tone of voice, the choice of words, the approach, etc.; the role of the interpreter who needs to do more than interpret, but also entertain, support or instruct; and the challenges that intervene when interpreting for such a young audience. We seek to illustrate here how we can become interpreters for children, being able to speak their language while maintaining professional standards.

According to Romania Constitution (Art.136) „the formation, administration, usage and control of state’ financial resources, of administrative units, and public institutions are regulated by law”. General consolidated budget represents a justification document of the public financial balance and a tracking one for observance throughout the budget year. The main component of the budget system is the state budget. An important issue regarding the state budget is that regarding the coverage of a country’s debts. Therefore, the article clarifies certain issues linked to the primary budget deficit, public debt, and the report between debt and income.

Cultural contexts and gender differences in adressing work-family conflict

Author(s): Livia Pogan / Language(s): English / Issue: 02/2016

Keywords: work-family conflict; cultural values; gender differences; social role;

The need to balance work and private life is an actual phenomenon, with global coverage, as well as the demographic processes that determine it. Although even from the beginning of humanity, adult activity was divided mainly between family and work, changes in economic, social and demographic that occurred in recent decades have led to bringing work-family conflict to the attention of researchers. At European Union level, for example, Member States are invited "to take appropriate measures to promote a better balance between work and private life for women and men" in light of the recommendations of the European Pact for equality between women and men 2011- 2020 (European Union Council, 2014: 10). Recent cross-cultural patterns of work-family conflict literature are promoting the moderating role of cultural characteristics in terms of experiencing this conflict and the impact of its consequences. The sociocultural variables that are frequently bandied include gender roles ideology and horizontally and vertically individualism / collectivism (according to Hofstede's factor analysis), to which are added political and contextual variables.

ADAM AND LILITH, A NONCONFORMIST COUPLE. FROM THE RELIGIOUS SINCRETISM, TO THE DEMONOLOGICAL IMAGINARY

Author(s): Petru Adrian Danciu / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 11/2017

Keywords: Lilith; Asmodeu; Samael; Pazuzu; demonology;

Our analysis starts from the premise that the symbiotic act of two existences cannot be possible as long as the entities involved do not give up the free will. The two personal histories are marked by the rejection of obedience, doubled by a strong sexual attraction. A coincidentia oppositorum in which divine intervention produces a constant discordant field. The result: the man becomes the lover of the demon "divorced" of the angel.

Keywords: internal critique; external critique; World Republic of Letters; integrative literary history context of literature;

Pascale Casanova’s concept - World Republic of Letters - mirrors a different perspective on literature by means of which the dichotomy internal critique (which looks on texts as autonomous types of universe) and external critique (looking for the historical context of literature production with no relation to its aesthetical value) is overpassed. Our study points out this integrative perspective and its relevance when placed within national and international literature

The Role Of The Social Class And The Family In The Formation Of Values In The Context Of The Democratisation Of Education

Author(s): Gabriela Motoi / Language(s): English / Issue: 1/2018

Keywords: democratisation of education; social class; value; level of education; parental role;

In this paper we are trying to analyse some important theoretical approaches that explain the role of the family and the social class on the formation of children's values. The analysis of these theoretical perspectives is based on the process of democratization of education, a process which aimed at precisely diminishing the role of social classes in building children's educational choices and, thus, promoting a better equality of chances, through the weakening of the link between social origins and educational outcomes. The theoretical sociological perspectives analysed in this article (M. Kohn and D. Alwin) are similar and they start from the same idea, namely that social stratification is important for understanding the values of both children and parents. Also, we have tried to see whether the views of the two sociologists are still applicable and can be used to explain social, economic and educational realities in the last decades.

Infernal Archives. The Securitate Files on Writers

Author(s): Gabriela Glăvan / Language(s): English / Issue: 1 (29)/2019

Keywords: Communist Secret Police; Securitate files; Post-communism; surveillance; political oppression;

The Securitate files are incontestable proof that the Romanian Communist Secret Police was repressive organ of state security. The Securitate specifically targeted so-called “enemies of the people”, commonly public figures who could endanger, in speech and in writing, the seemingly unchangeable political order. Dorin Tudoran, a Romanian writer who lived under Ceaușescu’s dictatorship, is the main character of his own Securitate file – a complex narrative revealing the inner workings of a highly efficient oppressive system. I intend to explore the significance of this type of document in a post-communist reading of the Romanian 70s and 80s. I also intend to argue that the Securitate file could be read as a dynamic, flexible account that obliterates the truth but documents the tools and strategies of a totalitarian regime.

Medea – or the Fantasies of the Woman within Us

Author(s): Oana Sandu / Language(s): English / Issue: 28/2019

Keywords: ancient theatre; Medea; Actor’s Art; Faculty of Theatre; Iaşi; Oana Sandu;

From generation to generation, the theatre teacher stands in front of a new experience and that is why, each time, they have to approach the group of students by a different manner, trying to find common points, the binder that unites the team, to determine it to function flawlessly, united. Taking into account that each student comes with different life experiences, a different personality from the other actors, different visions and expectations, the teacher has the difficult task, in the first stage, to build a team, to make the students aware that everyone should “bring their contribution” on the construction of the show (or exam), to help, to listen, to be present and involved. The stage is not a personal fight, but a battle of ideas, which helps us to evolve, grow professionally and this is why the theatre performance cannot be made in a hostile, conflicting environment. This is how, precisely because of this need to unite a divided group made up of extremely talented students, but with totally different and powerful personalities, the acting teacher suggests as a study theme for the first semester ancient theatre, forcing the team to be together throughout the rehearsals and the show-examination on the stage, giving the choir’s soul and voice, to listen, to take over and to put, each of them, a brick in the construction of the main character, which, through the directorial vision, belonged to all and not to a single performer. This is how a merged, united team and a festival performance were built: Medea.
