Summary/Abstract: The article provides an overview of the issue of homelessness as a health and social problem. Data collection was performed through qualitative research, in the form of semi-structured interviews and synthesis and analysis of the researched issues. Based on a detailed analysis of the interviews, the causes of homelessness were evaluated, specifically among respondents living in the city of Pilsen. Furthermore, the factors of personal history determining the current state of the respondent, his efforts for resocialization and also his needs related mainly to health and social issues were examined. For each respondent, an analysis of the state of health and a social survey were performed. An analysis of the internal documentation of the Emergency Medical Service of the Pilsen Region concerning ambulance departures to homeless people was also used. Segment of the empirical part is an evaluation of the established research questions based on the analysis of the obtained data. In the segment of discussion, the method of comparing the achieved results with the results of domestic and foreign authors was used.
