Afektywna topografia współczesnego Tokio w powieści Yoriko Shōno „Kombinat zakrzywionej czasoprzestrzeni” (Taimu surippu konbināto )

Author(s): Beata Kubiak Ho-Chi / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2015

Kubiak Ho-Chi reads Yoriko Shōno’s novel ‘Time Slip Kombinat” (1994) in the light of Brian Massumi’s theory of affect. She highlights the importance of affect and the cognitive potential of studying the emotional interaction between the individual and the place (Tokyo) in Shōno’s novel. She also emphasizes the correspondence between the chaos of the city and the chaos of feelings, which becomes apparent in the novelistic world after the industrial catastrophe. While Shōno is still untranslated into Polish, in Japan she is counted among the most revolutionary contemporary writers. Saturated with an atmosphere of surrealism and a nightmarish combination of dream and wakefulness, her experimental prose represents a postmodern Japan as well as a modern individual lost in the globalized world, filled with fear and lacking all faith in the future.

ESAD’IN ULUSLARARASI CEZA MAHKEMESİ’NDE YARGILANMASI ve ORTA DOĞU’DA RUSYA FAKTÖRÜ

Author(s): Hanefi Yazici / Language(s): English Issue: 25/2015

If the International Criminal Court (ICC) can not prosecute leaders who committed war crimes, it will be the end of justice and system for the international community. This study, examines both the efforts of international community to prosecute Assad, who committed war crimes in Syria, in the ICC, and the Russian factor in UN Security Council (UNSC), which has the authority for the statute of the international court of justice. The responsibility of Assad has been watched for a long time due to his crimes against humanity and war crimes in Syria. It is also vital that the General Secretary of UN declared that Assad committed crimes against humanity and war crimes and he must be prosecuted. In this regard, it is crucial how to prosecute Assad, because Syria has not ratified the Rome Statute of the ICC, so, just the attempt of the ICC Prosecutor for the jurisdiction over Assad in the ICC is inadequate.

Author(s): Isa Hadjiali,Y. Dimova,Z. Garova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2018

937 students from non-specialized schools from 7 different Bulgarian regions participated are included in the present study. The quantitative analysis of the data shows dependencies of the students’ views (on the essence of science and science research) on their cognitive results, on their gender and type of school they attend. In this article we focus on a quantitative study of the dependence between students’ views and their gender. We are looking for an answer to the following research question: Is there a statistically significant difference in the views of the high-school students who participated – boys and girls with good and excellent cognitive results in Chemistry? In order to do that we use descriptive statistics and the SPSS software product by applying the following statistical procedures: Student’s T-test, Mann-Whitney test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. Because of the gender differences we were able to establish we suggest ideas to natural sciences teachers for improving their pedagogical practice.

The Transformation of a Religious Site. The Rock Church of St. Petka in the Town of Tran: between the Religious Cult and the Tourist Attraction

Author(s): Ivaylo Markov / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

The focus of the research is St. Petka Rock Church located in the town of Tran, near the Bulgarian-Serbian border. This religious site is related to the strong and vigorous local cult of a saint who is well-known in the Balkans, St. Paraskevi-Petka. The cult is supported by an interesting local legend according to which St. Petka lived in that same small cave within which the church is situated today. Because of this,St. Petka is considered the patron saint of Tran and its inhabitants. The religious site and the specific cult of St. Petka in the past, as well as today, play an important role in structuring the religious life of the local community and constructing its identity.Proceeding from the historical presupposition and formation of St. Petka’s cult in the region, this article aims to examine some of the characteristics of the development and function of St. Petka Rock Church as a site of worship, as well as to study the changes which have occurred in the last two decades when the religious site was recognized as a site of cultural heritage and a resource for the development of local tourist products in the context of local sustainable development.

Ангел Букорещлиев: Животоописание във фотографии

Ангел Букорещлиев: Животоописание във фотографии

Author(s): Lora Hristozova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2019

The present article offers a possible interpretation of a small part of the photographs of Angel Bukoreshtliev – one of the most significant figures of the music life of Plovdiv and the rest of the country in the first half of the 20th century – kept in the MusicalInstruments and Ritual Requisite Fund of the Regional Ethnographic Museum – Plovdiv. The photographs selected for the purpose of the analysis enable us to “read“ the life of Bukoreshtliev from the perspective of his and his family’s social standing and in the context of the development of the Bulgarian photography. On the one hand, having in mind the fact that photography was a luxury until the Balkan Wars and photographic services were within reach of the people of higher social standing, his biography bears record of his belonging to the more well-to-do strata of the society as well as of his successful music and pedagogical career. On the other hand, the photographs selected give us information about the photographers (the Karastoyanovbrothers, V. Velebni, A. Andreev etc.) in Sofia and Plovdiv in that period, about the people they used to photograph, about the people who chose their photo studios etc. The photographs here presented were never published; thus, they introduce a new touch to the research field of the Bulgarian music life. The music funds could give answers to even more questions which may be subjects of other studies.

Ролята на преводача като културен медиатор: предаване на думи от хинди на български език

Author(s): Elena Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 6/2016

The current article focuses on two main tasks: linguistic – to draw out the basic principles of rendering Hindi words into Bulgarian language, as well as culturological – to show the importance of a translator’s mission and his role as an intercultural mediator. Apart from the phonetic and phonological aspect of the matter, the article refers also to the clearly semantic point, related to the way of incorporating words and terms in a text’s integrity, no matter if it is a translation or any written work, related to Indian culture. The survey is based on several publications of the department of Indology (Indian Studies) in Bulgaria and on the author’s book „Pen, Chocolate And Two Rupees“ (in co-authorship with Nikolay Yankov). The method is holistic and attempts to offer a comprehensive insight into the connection between languages while correlating it with the one between cultures, placing the translator’s personality in the centre of this relation.

CULTURE, LANGUAGES AND CUSTOMS IN THE BALKANS SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF WESTERN TRAVELERS OF THE 15th CENTURY

Author(s): Ivayla Popova / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2019

The present study focuses on texts of Western Travelers (Konrad Grünemberg, Pietro Casola, Arnold von Harff, Felix Fabri) and data pertaining to the culture, languages and customs of the Balkan people. Curious details about wedding and funeral customs in the Balkans we can found in the travel notes of Konrad Grünemberg. Arnold von Harff provides valuable data on Balkan languages – Slavic, Greek, Albanian and Turkish, including short dictionaries of these languages. In the travel notes of Western pilgrims and travelers, the ethnic diversity of the Balkans is consistently reflected. The western texts state that the majority of the Balkan population was Christian Orthodox. At the same time, there is interesting information on the minorities of Gypsies and Jews in a suburb of Modon, and their characteristic cultural features are discussed at length.

Педагогическая инноватика в действии

Author(s): Galina Shamonina,Leonid Moskovkin / Language(s): Russian Issue: 4/2019

This paper deals with the analysis of the ten-year experience in the work of the International Qualification School “Modern Pedagogical Technologies in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language”. The main trends in the development of the school stand out; two stages of its history are highlighted: the formation stage and the sustainable development stage. At the first stage of the school’s work, main modern pedagogical technologies were analysed and the main direction of the school’s work for all the forthcoming years was outlined - the study of productive innovative technologies in teaching Russian as a foreign language. A fundamental model of teaching these technologies was developed. It involves instructive classes of lecture or seminar type, development of a project by the attendees at the School, presentation of projects, selection of the best project, awarding the winners, appraisal of the experience of this work by its organizers and performers. At the second stage of the school, the attendees were introduced to theatrical, excursion, and music technologies, as well as movie-technology. In addition, the organizers of the School sought to present a broad picture of modern pedagogical technologies in general, to give an idea of the state and functioning of the modern Russian language.

The proposed article shares observations on with the construction of the image of the star in ethno-pop music and the role of the media and media music, with two cases - Slavi Trifonov and Azis. At first glance, they seem very different, but they are actually quite similar - as with the mechanisms of media imposition of the image of the star and the use of the media in the construction of public resources and attachment to civilian causes. The article attempts to interpret current cultural phenomena through their media projections, using Joseph Nye's theoretical statements on soft power; Tyler Cowen's for the Economics of Glory.

Process-relations in “Time Experience”

Author(s): Serghey Gherdjikov / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2019

I analyze here process-relations in time experience. My thesis is that McTaggart’s series A and B are process-relations. I demonstrate how McTaggart’s unreality thesis should be replaced by a relativity thesis: Series A and B are relations of processes: asymmetrical and ordered. The coordinate system of time experience is centered in our living body, in its life process, which is directed against entropy increasing: biological arrow. From that flowing position we first experience series of events and they all are ordered in direction past–present–future. From the same position we experience a “backflow”: we first expect, then perceive, and then remember an event in a series: future–present–past. Life process, directed against entropy increasing, which I call “biological arrow” is basic explanation of time experience. Time as such does not exist – only processes (series of states) exist. I suggest some small experiments to demonstrate my main points and to argue against the transcendental phenomenology of “time consciousness”.

The views of Todor Bourmov for the government of Bulgaria are reflected in a document stored in Russian archives. At the first its publication, the document was defined as a response of one of the Bulgarian notables – Todor Bourmov – to the questions of the Russian civil administration in Bulgaria from1878, and in the second – as rules for the election of a Bulgarian prince. According contained in this article concept, in both cases there are errors and inaccuracies, but in principle, the document itself contains a number of provisions found a place in the initial draft of the Organic Statute of the Bulgarian principality.

The first celebration of contemporary art in the heart of Ludogorie, called “In the Hand of Demir Baba” – literature, music, theater and “something else”, added a new event in the festival calendar of Bulgaria. Organized by young people with the ambition to promote local cultural heritage and disprove the general view of the lack of interesting and entertaining events outside the capital, the festival, as a pilot, promises more meetings with Demir Baba and asks to become an annual event for sharing culture and meeting with interesting people from all over the country.
