Etyczne aspekty stosowania psychologii w przestrzeni życia religijnego

Etyczne aspekty stosowania psychologii w przestrzeni życia religijnego

Author(s): Andrzej Kobyliński / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2015

The main aim of this paper is to present the contribution of psychology in the area of religious life and to vocational discernment and christian formation. The vocation to the priesthood and its discernment lie outside the strict competence of psychology. In some cases, recourse to experts in the psychological sciences can be useful. It can allow a more sure evaluation of the candidate’s psychic state. It can help evaluate his human dispositions for responding to the divine call and it can provide some extra assistance for the candidate’s human growth. The use of psychology and psychotherapy must be combined necessarily with compliance with fundamental ethical principles. In particular, the current challenge is now to respect ethical principles in the context of new forms of psychological manipulation, which appear today in various forms of religious life.

Comparative view on classical and modern teaching method. The Flipped Classroom method

Author(s): Corina-Maria Avram / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2016

Social, political, cultural, technological changes or research in various fields have also determined the evolution of the school from a traditional, teacher-centered type and its action to teach to a modern-day school where the main role belongs to the student who acquires new information, forms new skills, behaviors, or shapes the way in which he/she addresses various issues, but, at the same time, develops moral qualities. In this case, the teacher has the task of activating the students in a cognitive, affective, motivational and attitudinal way. Teachers' attention has been constantly directed towards identifying the most effective methods of presenting scientific content so students can enjoy the best educational experience.

The aim of this article is to demonstrate the potential of postsecular thought in the study of modern literature on the basis of two Bulgarian texts, different in form and time of writing, but signifying the frame of the interwar period: the story by Konstantin Velichkov Юда (“Judas”, 1911) and the drama by Ivan Grozev Съдний ден (“The Judgement Day”, 1939–1940). The analysis focuses on the cryptotheologies of the writers deconstructed on the basis of the meanings evoked by the event of the Crucifixion and in this context – the fate of the Betrayer.

An Examination of Superluminal Motion

Author(s): Argun Abrek Canbolat / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2017

In this work, the debate between Yuri Balashov and Hud Hudson is reviewed in terms of the views put forward by Tim Maudlin. It seems that Maudlin’s view can shed light on the debate and may ensure new discussions and perspectives. Hudson, posing an interesting thought experiment, says that superluminal motion is possible whereas Balashov argues to the contrary. If we take into account what Tim Maudlin suggests in the first chapter of his book The Metaphysics within Physics, namely, that “laws of nature ought to be accepted as ontologically primitive,” we can interpret Balashov-Hudson debate from a new perspective. It can be said that Balashov would be taking a step forward if we were to take into account Maudlin perspective.

Self and Soul, from Logic to Experience

Self and Soul, from Logic to Experience

Author(s): Bruno Marchal / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2017

We explain in brief terms the discovery of the third-person self in computer science. We explain how the incompleteness phenomenon makes consistent, natural, and non-trivial the definition of knowledge given by Theaetetus (Plato), and we make use of it to define a first-person knower, which, as I have suggested in previous papers (Marchal 2007, 2015a) is a good candidate for the soul. This invites us to attach a notion of a soul to the machine canonically. We justify that the soul of the classical universal machine knows already that she is *not* a machine, and can assess some antic argument in favor of the immortality of the soul. We end by looking if a personal experience can corroborate this, and in which sense could a human or a machine experience its immortality, and what could that mean.

Начинание в пределите на чистата метафизика

Author(s): Silviya Kristeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2017

The collection Back to Metaphysics offers a thematic discourse of a tendency, which is even more increasing from the beginning of 21-st century: the problems of contemporary metaphysics are to be discussed and their solutions to be found with the whole existential-dramatic pathos of philosophical questioning. In this turning back, back to the first foundations of pure metaphysics, the appeal in the title is proclaimed, but appeal manifested as a program, which the contemporary philosophers should follow. The first chapter Metaphysical Concepts arises the questions about the absolute, the first grounds, concerning being, knowledge and humanity, as questions to which the nowadays philosophizing must find answers. The second chapter Historico-Philosophical Interpretations develops discussions on the theoretical systems and constructions determining the horizons to the contemporary philosophy, and in such way represents the basis as the returning point from which on to see and to gain the new areas of pure metaphysics. In this search the end of metaphysics is also discussed – in the third chapter Postmetaphysical Destructions of the Metaphysics, but taken in the dimensions of Heidegger’s turn to language as a field for re-finding the meaning of Being.

Relational perspective in designing and conducting research into the Internet

Relational perspective in designing and conducting research into the Internet

Author(s): Anna Buchner,Katarzyna Zaniewska / Language(s): English Issue: 3/2016

From the relational perspective, competent use of the Internet is defined as one that can improve the quality an individual’s life or the efficiency of an institution and, as a result, enable them to function more smoothly/easily in their area of interest (Fliciak, Growiec, Mazurek, 2013). Thus, research into the Internet cannot be restricted to the online activities of the research participants and requires a broader, relational perspective. In the article, we draw from our unique experiences of designing, conducting and analysing research into the Internet with the use of the relational approach. The word “Internet” is used here primarily with reference to the field of research and somewhat less to the manner in which research is carried out. This is to say that the Internet constitutes the research environment and, above all, the research subject, whereas the use of Internet methodology is of secondary importance. The methodology is by no means key. For it is not because of the methodology employed that research is classified as “Internet research”. Nor is it necessary to employ Internet tools in the research into the Internet.

Sartre’s Theory of Temporality in Being and Nothingness in Anglo-American Academic Discourse

Sartre’s Theory of Temporality in Being and Nothingness in Anglo-American Academic Discourse

Author(s): Nikita Nankov / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2017

The study “Sartre’s Theory of Temporality in Being and Nothingness in Anglo-American Academic Discourse” presents in some detail Sartre’s ideas of time in his magnum opus Being and Nothingness (L’Être et le néant, 1943). The topic is dictated by the fact that these ideas have not been fully discussed by original philosophical literature in Anglo-American academia (English translations from French are not considered). The essay details three topics. The first, introductory part outlines the way Sartre’s theory of temporality in Being and Nothingness has or, rather, has not been fully analyzed in the specialized and popular philosophical literature in English. The overview covers some 65 titles on Sartre, existentialism, and phenomenology. The second section delineates Sartre’s theory of temporality in Being and Nothingness. The final part speaks of Sartre’s ideas of time in his literary criticism, namely, in his essay “On The Sound and the Fury: Time in the Work of Faulkner.”

Francuskie utopie oświeceniowe jako wyraz kultury politycznej i prawnej swoich czasów

Francuskie utopie oświeceniowe jako wyraz kultury politycznej i prawnej swoich czasów

Author(s): Karol Kuźmicz / Language(s): Polish Issue: 2/2016

The author presents the impact of Utopian thought on the French political and legal culture during the Age of Enlightenment. Contemporary Utopias were the ideological background of the French Revolution. The machinations of 18th century France aside, we can call this time the “Age of Utopia”. This is confirmed by the studies of many French scholars and researchers. Professor Bronisław Baczko, a Polish philosopher and historian, also presented this view in his work: “Utopian Lights: The Evolution of the Idea of Social Progress” (English Edition: New York 1989). It should be noted that the Enlightenment Utopias were concentrating on the nature of man and his social, economic, political and legal life. The texts of Utopians were also associated with philosophy and literature. They challenged the old order: Feudalism and Absolutism. In this way, the Utopias were the ideological weapon in the fight for a better world, that could only be redeemed by the Revolution.

Historia i struktura. Problem uprawomocnienia

Historia i struktura. Problem uprawomocnienia

Author(s): Andrzej Leder / Language(s): Polish Issue: 22/2016

In his text the author is defining the conflict of the structuralist and historicist – synchronic and diachronic thought – described by de Saussure – as a development of two different ethical axioms in the field of social philosophy. He tries to show, how each of this axioms can generate a different ontology of social being. Applying some elements of Deleuzian thought the author analyzes the theoretical position of the two ethical axioms. Then, on the fundament of the Lacanian, and more generally poststructuralist thought he tries to give a draft of a theoretical space in which such a change of ethical positions would be possible. He develops thus a new philosophy of symbolic fields.
