Тенденции в собствеността върху пациентската информация

Author(s): Martin Mirchev,Albena Kerekovska / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3-4/2018

We live in a highly digitized and hyper-bound world in which information is being created, compiled and transferred extremely easily and fast. Technological capabilities are virtually unlimited and, while providing improvements for different aspects of our lives, they tend to pose important issues, especially when they affect the interests of the people concerned. In the field of public healthcare this is highly sensitive. Along with the rapid digitalization of personal information, one of those important issues refers to the actual ownership of health data, especially with the evermore increasing concern on maintaining data privacy. The aim is to analyze modern trends in patient information ownership from normative and ethical perspective. The results reveal three main trends of patient information ownership – public ownership, private ownership and regulations not based on the right of ownership.

Smith’s major works related to this issue are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the methodology of the critical discourse analysis. The concept is studied in the general cultural context of the turn of the 21st century.

Технологичната журналистика като огледало на съвременната социална реалност

Author(s): Boyan Ivanovic / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

Ever since the Internet became mainstream the boundaries between the understandings of journalism are very fuzzy because it’s very difficult to specify one news story as “quality” or “tabloid”. The question today is whether we can accept as quality journalism the coverage of tech events by just presenting the facts, but using the techniques utilized by the tabloid media, notoriously known for presenting news in a sensational aspect and can we talk about objectivism in a reality where the influence of PR is stronger than ever. The evolution of the media business and the Internet significantly contributes and responds to the changed consumer expectations for content. Modern journalists make stories to be more understandable and exactly that is one of the main goals for the tech news editors — simplicity and accessibility of the media content. To fully understand what actually is technology journalism in sense of quality and nature of the information it is important to first define the concept of technical and non-technical writing, new journalistic practices in a tech-oriented consumer world and the different aspects of tech news.

ТРАНСЛАТОЛОШКИТЕ АСПЕКТИ ВО ПРЕВЕДУВАЊЕТО КНИЖЕВНОСТ ЗА ДЕЦА И МЛАДИ

Author(s): Zorica Nikolovska / Language(s): English,Macedonian Issue: 67/2016

By way of integrating theories in translatology, this paper analyzes the specificities involved in translating children’s and young adult literature, particularly focusing on the role of the translator. The study investigates the features of children’s and young adult literature, the diverse translation strategies used, by examining the fundamental concept of “the voice of the narrator of the translation.” To this effect, the author advocates that the translator’s “voice” should be made more visible, namely, the translator striving to achieve an equilibrium by constantly oscillating between two opposing models: foreignization and domestication. The author gives evidence in support of the thesis, that the translations of literary works intended for children presuppose the use of special translational strategies, primarily geared towards adapting to a greater extent the source text. Research has shown that there are three types of possible adaptations: cultural adaptation, adaptation at the level of words and actions, and adaptation at the level of norms and values. It seems that although the translator of children’s and young adult literature is less constrained during the process of adaptation of the source text; this kind of “freedom of choice” renders the role of the translator even more valuable, since they have to consider the psychological, pedagogical, cultural, and social factors which invariably determine the specificities of the young adult readership of the work they are translating.

Транснационални наследства: селският дом и историята в Югоизточна Европа

Author(s): François Ruegg / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2021

Paradoxically enough, our present times combine conservation with the destruction of architectural heritage. The preservation of this heritage is closely related to the foundation of the nation state and serves to show the “national genius” embodied by the peasant. Simultaneously, the different disciplines that study the issues of architectural heritage show that there is a tendency of mutual disregard. Nevertheless, the transnational concept of the rural home in Southeast Europe (mainly Romania and former Yugoslavia) which I have studied and documented in the 1970-s, displays similar features in close geographical zones, and also in zones that are marked by the culture and history of imperial colonization: Austrian in the first case and Ottoman in the second. The perspective from the point of view of regional heritage makes possible to apply a trans-border approach in order to reveal connections of kinship between neighboring villages separated by political boundaries. In the article, the differences between certain cultural areas are explained with the support of history.

Українська авторська термінологія в системі iSybislaw (дієслово)

Українська авторська термінологія в системі iSybislaw (дієслово)

Author(s): IUliia V. Romaniuk / Language(s): Ukrainian Issue: 49/2014

The problem of authors’ terminology is well-known to all iSybislaw developers. It inevitably forces them to find a compromise between their desire to represent the content of a document as fully as possible and the need to protect the system from being cluttered with non-standard terminology. Recent publications in the journal Ukrainska mova (Ukrainian language) suggest that researchers are interested in a wide range of problems, in particular categorical-functional descriptions of the verb. The article by S. Sokolova and O. Achylova discusses the problem of verb translation. The authors use the terms aspektualnist’ (aspectuality), rody diieslivnoi dii (lexical aspects, or Aktionsarten) and vydova neitralizatsiia (aspect neutralization). Modern Ukrainian dictionaries of linguistic terminology contain only the first two terms. In the iSybislaw system, the following keywords are used for this document: aspektualnist’ (aspectuality), diieslovo (verb) and fazovist’ (phasicity). The term vydova neitralizatsiia (aspect neutralization) is not included. This term is new and refers to a situation when the aspectual meaning of a verb is irrelevant in translation from Ukrainian into non-Slavic languages. There is no need to include such terms in the iSybislaw system. The fact that the set of keywords used in iSybislaw relies on both the semantic potential of terms used in the indexed texts and terminological standards ensures efficient information retrieval.
