Summary/Abstract: The growth of material productive forces in manufacturing, industry, and mechanical production has brought about a far¬-reaching and many-sided contemporary revolution in informatics. It is based on an epoch-making technological turn brought about by a massive use of computers, telecommunication and telematic devices, flexible automatic plants, robots, electronic contraptions, special materials, laser beams, satellites, optical fibers, genetic engineering, etc. The author scrutinizes these processes as they contribute to a material revolution, and demonstrates how far highly developed areas have gone in that direction and with what economic and social consequences. Thus mankind has found itself on a turning point that implies many changes. A material basis for the unification of humanity and the forming of a classless self-activating society is being laid.
