THE SANTOURI AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE OF LESVOS

THE SANTOURI AS AN INSTRUMENT OF CULTURAL HERITAGE OF LESVOS

Author(s): Loukia Valasi / Language(s): English Issue: 5/2023

This article explores the cultural significance and heritage of the santouri, a traditional musical instrument deeply intertwined with the rich history and traditions of the Greek island of Lesvos. The santouri, a stringed percussion instrument, was traditionally present in mainland and mainland Greece, but its actual exposure and dissemination in the region has received a radical renewal since the arrival of Greek refugees from Asia Minor after the disaster of 1923. This migration gathers notable musicians and creators, making the santouri an integral part of traditional music and company. Lesvos, in particular, is considered the last remnant of the original Asia Minor preserved in Greece. This island retains a wealth of political elements that it had in common with Asia Minor, and many of these traditions still thrive on the island. In this environment, the santouri became part of the living tradition and cultural heritage of Lesvos. Τhe aim of this study is to shed light on the role of santouri as a reference instrument of the cultural identity of Lesvos. To achieve this, a multifaceted research methodology was used, including interviews with local musicians, archival analysis and an examination of the instrument's evolution over time. The santouri, as a stringed percussion instrument, has played a central role in the island's vibrant musical heritage, reflecting the cultural diversity and influences that have shaped Lesvos throughout its history. The results of our study show that Sandouri functions as a strong emblem of the cultural heritage of Lesvos. It represents a fusion of influences, including Byzantine, Ottoman and Aegean, that have shaped the island's musical traditions over the centuries. Furthermore, we found that the santouri remains a vital part of local musical practices, both in traditional folk music and in contemporary compositions. Musicians on Lesvos continue to innovate and experiment with the instrument, demonstrating its adaptability and enduring appeal.By recognizing the importance of the instrument and promoting its study and practice, Lesvos can ensure the continued vitality of the instrument as a cultural symbol. Initiatives aimed at education and conservation can help bridge the gap between past and present, strengthening a sense of cultural continuity and identity on the island.

Анализ на управлението на мобилността в 5G мобилни клетъчни мрежи

Анализ на управлението на мобилността в 5G мобилни клетъчни мрежи

Author(s): Rosen Pasarelski,Tereza Stefanova,Teodora Pasarelska / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2023

Mobility management in 5G mobile networks focuses on solving the main mobility management problems that arise in older mobile network technologies. These issues include latency, throughput, quality of service and energy efficiency. One of the main advantages of the 5G network is the higher multiplexed throughput, which allows many more devices to connect to the network at the same time. This drives the need for more efficient mobility management to ensure that multiple devices can receive quality service at the same time. One of the ways that 5G mobile networks solve these problems is by improving the registration and data forwarding management systems that are responsible for managing mobility. The aim of the report is to analyze the mobility management methods in mobile cellular networks by proposing mathematical models through various techniques and mechanisms.

Ефекти от комерсиализацията на научната информация

Ефекти от комерсиализацията на научната информация

Author(s): Olya Harizanova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 9/2017

The timeliness of this topic is indisputable having in mind the current volume of scientific production and the need for analysing and evaluating the increasing information flow. Of particular interest is the growing tendency to link industries to scientific excellence: on the one hand, in their application in the production of new products (goods, services), and on the other – in the application of new business models for the development and promotion of scientific excellence. Today there is an expansion of the scope of publishing systems, the number of Internet based platforms for the exchange of scientific results, the providers of scientific information (especially in electronic format), open access systems, and the large repositories of scientific products. One of the most pronounced wires for this distribution is the quoted indexes/pointers. They have been recognized globally as a quality, prestige and a wave of significant changes in policies to regulate scientific activities. At the same time, many problems have emerged, both in terms of freedom in the creative process of scientists and in the availability of dissemination systems. In Bulgaria, the problem is particularly relevant and significant. In the areas of natural sciences and technical sciences, the citation of the work of Bulgarian researchers could be identified by foreign scientific databases. In the field of social sciences and humanities, however, this is difficult to apply, and in number of thematic sub-areas – not applicable (e.g. related to national identity or the protection of national interests). In fact, although there are sporadic examples, at present there is no established practice in our country to track the authors' citations and publications in the field of social sciences. This is a real and significant barrier to popularizing the results of Bulgarian scientists as well as maintaining a high level of their scientific prestige. Getting a real idea of the scientific and research achievements of these individuals at present is not possible. The article explores two effects of the problems mentioned above: the emergence of multiple platforms for scientific production (in response to the monopolized market from 2-3 corporations) and the emergence of free access platforms (mostly pirated) to full-text content of costly articles.
