Милена Шушулова Павлова: „Музика и публики. Нови концепции за отвореност“

Author(s): Elisaveta Valchinova-Chendova,Todor Petev / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2016

The book deals with topical contemporary musical practices and processes of musical communication. The fundamental to the art of music problem of communication is commented on. Music is communication and in this light, actual processes and contemporary musical and cultural practices in the field of the so-called ‘classical’ or ‘art’ music are treated. Drawing on serious literature, related directly or indirectly to the subject matter, the author formulates and considers in all their bearings several significant issues pertaining to the digital breakthrough, the role of the social media, public interest, analysis of audiences, etc., as social and cultural phenomena of enormous psychological effect, shaping new practices and audiences. Contemporary music education and that of young audiences are highlighted. The sociological survey conducted by the author and her analysis of the results is central to the study. The text is dialogical, intended for various readerships, which is yet another advantage to this book. Apart from the viewpoint of the musicologist, we provide the opinion of Prof. Dr Todor Petev, a renowned Bulgarian sociologist, the doyen of mass communications studies (1944–14 October 2015). In his opinion, the analysis of good cases and the innovative music educational endeavours (al fresco grand concerts in public areas in Europe) is the book’s strong side. Another fresh thematic line is that of the young audiences (the analyses of the survey of students, Ch. 10). It is gratifying to see that the author leaves the ending open to interpretation by readers, enabling them to continuously provide an infinite amount of new examples.

Надгробни паметници с релефни сцени на тема оране от Югоизточна България

Author(s): Lyubomir Mikov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2025

This paper examines a group of preserved tombstones from the Strandzha-Sakar region in southeastern Bulgaria, covering areas such as Burgas, Yambol, Haskovo, Elhovo, Ivaylovgrad, and Svilengrad. These tombstones are adorned with relief images depicting two oxen harnessed to a plough, with some also including the figure of a ploughman. The earliest example dates back to 1775, and the latest to 1896. Such imagery is unique to this region and is not found elsewhere in the country. The depictions suggest that these tombstones were erected for deceased farmers, serving as a testament to their agrarian livelihood. Furthermore, the monuments highlight ploughing as both an emblem and a symbol of agriculture.

Combat losses of the armies of the opposing sides are an indicator not only of casualties incurred and the intensity of battles, but also a factor in assessing the combat effectiveness of troops. In the article, based on documents from the State Military Historical Archive of Bulgaria (DVIA), the Russian State Military Historical Archive (RGVIA), the Austrian State Archive (OStA), the Bavarian Main State Archive (BayHSA), information collected by researchers from different countries, the losses of the armies of Bulgaria, Romania, Austria-Hungary, German, Ottoman and Russian empires during the Romanian campaign (September 1916 – January 1917), an important part of which was the Dobrudzha operation of the 3rd Bulgarian army. In these battles, the Bulgarian troops suffered the heaviest losses of all the Allied contingents (up to 50 thousand people), but at the same time inflicted a serious defeat on the enemy troops and disabled more than 0.25 million of their soldiers.

Интегриране на стратегия за социално-емоционално учене в училище

Author(s): Violena Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 23/2024

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is the process that enables us to effectively acquire and apply social and emotional skills. It focuses on understanding and managing emotions, setting positive goals, and making responsible decisions. More and more research shows that social-emotional skills are fundamental for personal development, learning, and socialization (Gardner, 2004; Goleman, 2011; Lemberg, 2013). They contribute to the healthy growth of students in an inclusive learning environment. In the SEL process, students enhance and apply both social and emotional skills in specific situations to confidently manage their emotions, set goals, make decisions, and establish positive and healthy relationships for coexisting with others. These skills are the result of growth, which extends from childhood to maturity, and depends on teachers to encourage their meaningful use. The article aims to highlight the importance of SEL in the educational process, as well as to provide anyone working towards improving the quality of education and the holistic development of students with guidelines for its effective integration into the classroom. The focus is on various aspects of SEL, as well as strategies and methods that will contribute to its implementation in the educational process and environment.
