За синтактичния аспект на определеността

Author(s): Mariana Georgieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2019

According to this research, the definiteness is a syntactic category and it is called “predicateness”. Predicateness may serve as characteristics of the subject, as well as of the object of the action expressed by the verb. This characteristics is a consequence of the predicativity. The identifying member is a syntactic category synonym, attributed to the attribution of the predicate to an entity that may be the first verb, a subject, and a second verb, addition. This attribute is attributed to the construction of the subject-predicate attitude as the content of predictability - the main sign of the sentence

Изучаването на чужди езици през Възраждането

Author(s): Maria Mitskova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 4/2019

The article provides a historical point of view on foreign language teaching and learning in Bulgaria while analyzing certain opinions and conceptions of Bulgarian publishers, writers and teachers regarding this topic, discovered in the prefaces of several books published from 1830’s to 1870’s. The question of foreign language education during the Bulgarian Revival period is connected not only to the need of intercultural communication within the framework of the multilingual Ottoman Empire as well in the European context, but it also contributes to the development of the Bulgarian linguistic thought during that era. At the same time, the foundation concepts of language intellectualization and internationalization being two of the major goals of the Bulgarian standard language construction process are strongly related to the basic ideas of standardization, cultivation and high prestige of the literary language still in a stage of shaping.

Художествени проекции на социалнопедагогическото познание: случаят Рубен Гайего

Author(s): Veska Gyuviyska,Nikolay Tsankov / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 7/2019

The study is a socio-pedagogical reading of Ruben Gallego’s novel ‘White on Black’, an autobiographical narrative about homes for disabled children in Soviet Russia in the 1980s. Gallego is a Spanish boy, born with cerebral paralysis whose childhood is spent in institutions for disabled children in Russia. Regardless of his disability, Gallego manages to preserve his will for life and creative potential. The novel White on Black is a Booker Prize laureate in 2003 and is a discovery in Russian literature. The conceptual argumentation of the novel is in the context of postmodernism and authors such as Pierre Nora, Maurice Halbwachs, Michel Foucault. It mainly analyses the social institutions as spaces of authority. Basic ideas and concepts include P. Nora’s ‘realms of memory’, Maurice Halbwachs 'collective memory' and M. Foucault’s 'heterotopia', which allows the highlighting of new dimensions in postmodern institutions and their relation to the uses of authority. The article also offers an empirical study with students from ‘Special Pedagogy’ majors at the pedagogical departments of some Bulgarian universities. The aim is to discover the personal expression and professional reflection of students in the artistic projections of the socio-pedagogical knowledge.

An Investigation of Official Corruption in Ottoman Egypt: Processes and Documents of Ottoman Administration

Author(s): Linda Darling / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2016

The investigation in question is recorded in a series of thirty-eight register entries on a case of financial malfeasance in recently-conquered Ottoman Egypt that was investigated by officials from Ottoman Syria. This case appears in the oldest existing mühimme defteri, a register of important affairs of the Ottoman Empire, and provides detailed information about how the Ottomans governed their provinces. It lists many of the taxes and revenues collected by the Ottomans and discusses the most important treasury personnel in the province and the documents they created. It also describes how the Ottoman state worked to control those personnel even at a distance and to induce these officials to adhere to concepts of just imperial rule. The article describes the issues in the case and identifies the provincial officials involved in the investigation, the documents they were supposed to collect or create, and the procedures they were commanded to follow. The conclusion examines the implications of the case for our understanding of the place of Syria and Egypt within the wider Ottoman Empire in the sixteenth century. This episode presents an instance of the Ottoman integration of newly conquered lands in a period when records are fairly plentiful (in contrast to the conquest of Rumeli, where most of our evidence comes from chronicles written at a later date). Beyond that, this case illuminates the whole issue of how an empire operates and challenges the stereotype of general Ottoman oppression of the conquered territories.

Българското църковно представителство в Истанбул и въпросът за вдигане на схизмата

Author(s): Boryana Buzhashka / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2019

Nowadays in Istanbul, Turkey, there is a Bulgarian colony, which was created after the Second Balkan War and the First World War. It was not related to the Bulgarians in Constantinople from the times of the Bulgarian National Revival, but through the Foundation of Bulgarian Orthodox Churches in Istanbul as established, it was their legal successor. The Foundation was also the formal owner of that part of the Bulgarian exarchal properties in Turkey which the Turkish State returned. Lifting the schism was an act of international and internal political importance. This act put an end to the use of the Exarchy as a mean to unite all the Bulgarians within the borders of a new Bulgaria according to the Treaty of San Stefano. In essence, this was a retreat from the national ideal. The conditions for lifting the schism, the closing of the Exarchal Vicegerency and the unresolved status of the Bulgarian Church Community deprived the Bulgarians in the Republic of Turkey of Bulgarian representation on church affairs and predetermined their remaining within the diocese of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. This issue has consequences even nowadays.

Езикова теория и езикова реалност – категориите вид, време, наклонение и залог в учебните помагала по новогръцки на гръцкото средно образование

Author(s): Boris Vounchev,Elena Chausheva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2019

The paper proposes a critical reading of the approach to the verbal categories aspect, tense, mood and voice in the Modern Greek Language, as adopted in the textbooks and teachers’ methodological guides for the Greek Middle School (Gymnasium). The analysis of the textbooks and the methodological guides takes into consideration the following aspects: sources of theoretical framework, adoption of up-to-date theoretical insights, theses and terminology, differences in the approach to the verbal categories and use of controversial or non-conforming to the language reality theses. The main conclusions are that the contemporary linguistic approaches are incorporated in the methodological guides, while the textbooks adhere to obsolete theoretical framework and terminology, and that a number of important issues pertaining to the Modern Greek verbal system are insufficiently analyzed or not analyzed at all.

Явление лексической паронимии как лингводидактическая проблема

Author(s): Elena Stoyanova / Language(s): Russian Issue: 5/2019

The paper is devoted to the problems of lexical paronymy in the aspect of teaching Russian as a foreign language. The paper examines the verbal single-root paronymic lexemes of the Russian language and their equivalents in the Bulgarian language. The relevance of the study is due to the processes of globalization and intercultural dialogue, as well as the concomitant problems of reducing the language culture. Linguistic and didactical difficulties of paronymy and its teaching in the Bulgarian audience are due to the phenomenon of inter-linguistic homonymy. Among the system errors in the study of the Russian language, there is a mixture of paronyms as a violation of lexical normativity. We provide a generalized table of the use of paronymic verbs, which analyzes intergenerational equivalents.

Author(s): Mariyana Tsibranska-Kostova,Magdalena Abadzhieva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 5/2019

The handwriting Maurizio da Castellazzo‘s dictionary is likely to be the first survived Bulgarian-Italian Dictionary of the times of the Bulgarian Revival. It was created by a Catholic missionary, probably in Rakovski area, in purpose of getting familiar with the flock of believers. The dictionary is valuable with its concrete parameters of the interlingual symmetry in sounds, letters, meanings, idiomatics, but just as important is the contemporary Bulgarian worldview, fixed in and by the words, the material and the spiritual culture of Bulgarians, and the ethno-cultural identity of the Bulgarian Catholics.
