This paper, along with a short introduction on the Habsburg anti-Ottoman offensive during the Great (Vienna) war (1683-1699), brings a translation of the memorandum of the Serbian diplomat and adventurer Đorđe Branković from 1688 addressed to the Habsburg king and emperor, Leopold I. In it, Branković offers his aid to the emperor in his conquests against the Ottomans and seeks the foundation of the «Illyrian Kingdom» in the area of South-Eastern Europe which was liberated from the Ottomans, under the dynasty of Branković. This kingdom would be, according to Branković, a friend to the Habsburg Monarchy and its faithful ally.

Die Verfasserin analysiert zwei, bisher noch nicht aufgedeckten Quellen, die sie im Komitatsarchiv Baranya in Pécs/Fünfkirchen studierte. Beide bereichern mit wichtigen Detaillen unsere Kenntnisse über die Geschichte der Familie Jankovich von Daruvár/Daruvar. Aus dem Diplom von 1765 wird klar, dass das Prädikat allein Anton Jankovich kriegte (obwohl auch sein jünger Bruder und seine Nachkommen benutzten es). Und der Dokument aus 1763 beinhaltet die erste schriftliche Spur der Verwendung des künstlichen ungarischen Ortsnamen Daruvár/Daruvar in Slawonien. Früher meinte man aber, dass die Angabe aus dem Diplom 1765 die Jüngste ist.

This paper gives a portrayal of the life and political action of Mijo Ipša, prominent CPP champion in the Daruvar area. The basis of this paper is the record of the hearing of Mijo Ipša held by the DNS (hrv. OZNA) in the time between 1945 and 1946 while preparing a grand judicial procedure against the CPP leaders, Mijo Ipša included. The record got preserved in the Croatian State Archives, in the personal collection of the historian Bogdan Krizman. The source material is held in the Military Archives of Serbia.

Henry Bitterfeld, Thomas Aquinas and Identifying Sources in Late Medieval Texts. A Case Study of De formatione et reformatione Ordinis Fratrum Praedicatorum

The article deals with the ways in which St Thomas Aquinas’s texts were used by Henry Bitterfeld in his late-14th-century treatise De formatione et reformatione Ordinis Fratrum Praedicatorum. Not only is Aquinas the most often quoted authority in Bitterfeld’s writing but also his texts are the building materials for Bitterfeld. This special place of St Thomas in the treatise by the Silesian Dominican resulted from a practical realisation of the assumptions of the Dominican Observant Reform for the needs of which the analysed treatise was written, calling for the return of the Dominicans to faithful observance of the Order’s regulations. Those ordered the friars to study and propagate St Thomas’s teachings.

There are in the Geheimes Staatsarchiv Preußischer Kulturbesitz in Berlin original letters written by Poles to the government of the Duchy of Prussia; eight of them were written by Crown senators to Margrave George Frederick and Prussian councillors-general during the third interregnum (1586–1587). The subject of the article is the edition of the abovementioned letters and their presentation in the context of Polish-Prussian relations.

The article describes the collection of documents “Letters to the Authorities in the Years of the New Economic Policy”, prepared by Novosibirsk historians and dedicated to the New Economic Policy in Siberia. Researchers extracted from various archives letters, statements, complaints, and petitions from residents of cities and villages sent to various government structures. These documents make it possible to more fully and adequately characterize the state of society and the authorities in Siberia, to seek the presence or absence of dialogue between them, and to assess the degree of political adaptation of various social strata to the Soviet regime in the 1920s. At the same time, the documents make it possible to identify problems that the population regularly faced and to see reactions of the authorities to the changing mood of society. The new documents provide an opportunity for an in-depth study of a number of problems facing the country as a whole and its individual regions. These include labor desertion, which intensified at the time of the transition of Soviet Russia from war communism to the new economic policy; the “Chinese question”, which for a number of reasons had its own specificity precisely on the territory of Siberia; party purges; and the authorities’ methods for dealing with political opponents. The inner-party struggle of the 1920s, which is simplified in the literature, deserves special elaboration. Research in this direction will make it possible to determine the internal structure of opposition groups, their numbers, and forms of political struggle.

Declararea neconstituţionalităţii dispoziţiilor art.53 alin. (1) lit. b) teza întâi din Codul muncii, potrivit cărora contractul individual de muncă poate să fie suspendat din iniţiativa angajatorului în cazul în care acesta a formulat o plângere penală împotriva salariatului, încetează de orice efect norma juridică. Pour faciliter la connaissance des circonstances dans lesquelles ont été rédigés les rapports diplomatiques que font l’objet de ce démarche historique, l’éditeur a entrepris une courte revue des événements qui ont précéder le déclenchement de l’insurrection de Varsovie de novembre 1830. Les rapports en discussion, qui ont été tirés par l’éditeur des Archives Nationales de Suède ont leur valeur, en tant que sources documentaires pour les recherches de l’histoire de l’insurrection polonaise de novembre 1830. Parce que ils offrent des informations relatives à l’impact de son déclenchement sur les Russes, donnent des détails sur les premiers événement de Varsovie, et en même temps offrent les considérations personnelles de leur auteur sur celles-ci.

The subject of this publication is an excerpt from the diary of Father Antoni Zawadzki, a protoarchimandrite of the Basilian Order, found by the late Prof. Ihor Skoczylas. The source belongs to the collection of Orthodox Bishop Paweł (whose proper name was Prokop Dobrochotov), deposited in the Scientific and Research Archive of the St Petersburg Institute of the History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The text of the diary, in Latin and Polish, refers to the events of the Provincial Synod in Zamość in 1720 (25 August–18 September), which is why its editor called it the Diary of the Synod of Zamość. It was published in accordance with the contemporary principles of editing historical sources, and is preceded by an extensive introduction discussing the text and introducing Father Antoni and the historical context of related events. The diary belongs to the written narrative sources created en masse among the clerical and lay elite of the Kyiv Metropolitan Archdiocese. It is an act of public law and an official document of the Basilian Order, and its text consists of chronicler’s notes on the events of the synod, descriptions of its sessions and deliberations, Zawadzki’s activities as the protoarchimandrite of the Order, documents and correspondence of the Roman Curia and the Basilian Order and official decrees of the protoarchimandrite regarding administrative, economic, pastoral and financial matters.

Problema influențelor muzicale reciproce germano-române din Banat. O contribuție etnomuzicologică

Dieser ursprünglich 1978 in Deutschland veröffentlichte Beitrag untersucht das Problem fehlender gegenseitiger Einflüsse im Volksliedgut der im Banat seit mehr als zwei Jahrhunderten neben- und miteinander lebenden Deutschen und Rumänen. Die theoretische Grundlage des bisher nur wenig erforschten Themas erschien uns so bedeutsam, dass wir uns für die Veröffentlichung auch einer rumänischen Fassung des Artikels entschlossen haben. Als Kenner sowohl der deutschen als auch der rumänischen Folklore geht der Verfasser vorliegend von der vergleichenden Analyse eines für das jeweilige Volk repräsentativen Liedbeispiels aus, um zu dem Schluss zu gelangen, dass unterschiedliche musikalische Konzepte der beiden Ethnien Übernahmen verhindern.

Swojej matki, Anny Lorenc, z domu Fussteig, nie pamiętam wcale. Gdy została aresztowana – w Tarnopolu, w lipcu 1942 r. – miałam zaledwie trzy lata. Po mamie zostało jedynie kilka pamiątek, to jest parę zdjęć, kilka listów, portret piórkiem oraz naszyjnik z ciemnego bursztynu. Zostały też dwa gestapowskie dokumenty i gryps z więzienia w Tarnopolu. Wszystko to trafiło w moje ręce po śmierci ojca. Informacji jest bardzo niewiele. Była mocno zbudowaną ciemnowłosą kobietą o semickiej urodzie. O ile mi wiadomo, uczyła się w Prywatnym Seminarium Nauczycielskim Żeńskim w Jarosławiu. Wywodziła się z rodziny chasydzkiej z Sieniawy, gdzie przyszła na świat. Wychowała się jednakże w Jarosławiu, dokąd przenieśli się jej rodzice. Jej matka nazywała się Klara, a ojciec Natan. Był kupcem. Miała siedmioro rodzeństwa. Ona sama i prawdopodobnie niektórzy spośród jej braci i sióstr odeszli od surowych praktyk religijnych. Nie wiadomo mi nic o tym, aby któreś z nich przeżyło wojnę. Przeżyli tylko ich kuzyni, którzy odnaleźli mnie jakiś czas temu poprzez archiwa genealogiczne ŻIH. Potomkowie rodziny Fussteigów mieszkają dziś w Izraelu i w Australii.
