Schulz i Lille

Author(s): Ariko Kato / Language(s): Polish Issue: 3/2013

Bruno Schulz visited Paris in August 1938. He wanted to organize there an exhibitionof his works of art and for that reason he met, among others, Ludwik Lille, a graphic artist and a painter, member of an avant-garde group called “Artes.” In Lille’s archive, now held in the Polish Library in Paris, there are several texts written for the Polish Section of the French Radio. One of them is titled “On Bruno Schulz, a Poet anda Painter.” The entire text, which was presented on the radio, has been included in the present essay as an appendix. The other appendix is a reproduction of a photocopy of Mieczysław Joszt’s portrait drawn by Schulz, which is now also in the holdings ofthe Paris Polish Library. The drawing was mistakenly published in 1969 by “Oficyna Poetów” and Schulz’s portrait drawn by Lille.

Dzieje jednej faktury. Glosa do przypisu, czyli Central Park Heinricha Himmlera

Dzieje jednej faktury. Glosa do przypisu, czyli Central Park Heinricha Himmlera

Author(s): Jerzy Giebułtowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 12/2016

On 16 February 1943 Heinrich Himmler gave the order to demolish the Warsaw ghetto and deport its remaining Jewish population, all this in an attempt to complete the process of the destruction of Jews. The liquidated ghetto territory was to be turned into a park, half the size of New York’s Central Park. The invoice for the demolition and cultivation of rubber root (one of Himmler’s ‘exotic projects’) was made out to the Ministry of Finance by the SS Main Economic and Administrative Office despite the failure of those two enterprises. It remains unknown whether the enormous amount due (150 million RM, that is, the equivalent of a minimum 500–600 million in today’s dollars) was paid in full out or what happened with the valuables and other material salvaged during the demolition. The text discusses the course of the demolition and deportation ordered by Himmler and the history of the invoice.

Durağan Olanı Tanıma Macerasında Bir Akademisyenin Son Sözü: Türk Halkbilimi

Author(s): Gürol Pehlivan / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 82/2015

Formalization of ethnology in Turkey has been historically as an investigation of “stable” groups in its own society. The reason of this formalization can be summarized as contribution to modernization process via investigating roots of conflicts which occurred in country brought by modernization process itself. Sedat Veyis Örnek was an ethnologist and in this process played an active role in his entire academic life. Moving from ethnology to folklore beginning from 1970s, his masterpiece in folklore discipline entitled as Türk Halkbilimi was published in 1977. He, who also established “Chair of Folklore” within the Faculty of Humanities in Ankara University, gave us keystones of his folklore understanding in aforementioned work. When the work analyzed, it is seen that Örnek approached folklore in a very “ethnological” way. This point of view is closely related with his background. It is possible to say that this viewpoint in a certain extent has contributed to the illusion of a dichotomy supposed between “folklore” and “folk literature” in Turkish folklore studies. On the other hand, putting forward objectivity in science influenced his understanding of examined people as an “object” and at this point caused to some suggestions which tended not only some conceptual but also ethical issues.

Field work is one of the indispensable parts of folklore. When the history of Turkish field work considered, the motivation towards conducting field works and interpretation of traditional knowledge obtained has undergone changes. One of the prominent names who have undertaken significant roles in this progress of change is Sedat Veyis Örnek. He is the scientist who has made unique contributions to Turkish folklore and field works. According to Sedat Veyis Örnek dictionary preparation and field works involve deficiencies. Therefore, he aimed at bringing in scientific and systematic approach to field works. He made considerable efforts to compile data in his field works based on scientific criteria. In this article, Sedat Veyis Örnek’s opinions on field work will be evaluated with citing his books titled as Sivas ve Çevresinde Hayatın Çeşitli Safhalarıyla İlgili Bâtıl İnançların ve Büyüsel İşlemlerin Etnolojik Tetkiki (1966), Anadolu Folklorunda Ölüm (1971), Geleneksel Kültürümüzde Çocuk (1979) and Türk Halkbilimi (1977) that includes his theoretical and practical thoughts related to the field work. His remarks on and methods applied in his field works have utmost importance to understand the progress of folkloric research techniques in Turkey. Resulting from his thematic and in depth approach it has been observed that he has brought scientific dimension in his field works. However, he has revealed inadequacy in interpretation of field work data like his predecessors. Even so, he is an innovative theorist and a competent practitioner in field work studies.

Susret teorije i prakse u poduzetničkom obrazovanju na primjeru studentskih dnevnika učenja

Author(s): Ljerka Sedlan-König / Language(s): Croatian Issue: 1/2009

In the literature on entrepreneurial education, various accesses in integration of theory and practice are present, the authors differ in the choice of methods, and techniques of teaching that will enable the students to build entrepreneurial skills. However, though teaching through lectures represents an important learning component, everyone agrees that only theoretical knowledge is not sufficient. To stimulate students to active learning and application of acquired knowledge in practice various interactive techniques have been developed among which are also the methods of experimental and reflexive learning. This paper researches the application of combination of these methods using students’ diaries and then appraises this technique, its advantage and disadvantage from the viewpoint of teachers and students. Thus, this paper can start further discussion on the techniques of efficient teaching and learning in the entrepreneurial education.
