Following the appearance of severe acute respiratory syndrome SARS-CoV-2 or coronavirus (Covid-19), which first broke out in the Chinese city of Wuhan, a socio-economic crisis of great proportions quickly occurred worldwide. But while everyone's attention was focused on economic and health issues, the psychological crisis that followed would be almost as important and serious. Progressively, various psychological problems related to mental health appeared, such as stress or anxiety, which affected most individuals, both during the quarantine period and after. The paper aims to make an analysis of the current situation, after 2 years from the beginning of the pandemic as well as the measures that can be taken to minimize the psychic effects generated by it.

Acute pain is differentiated from chronic pain according to the parameters analyzed by the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP): duration, etiology, mechanism, character, mental state of the patient. The substrate of pain in somatic and visceral damage is the release of substances with a double neuromediating and vasoactive effect, which act indirectly on the membrane of nociceptors through local biochemical changes or directly, through mechanical or chemical action. Microcirculation changes either through vasoconstriction, influencing capillary permeability and determining the level of algogenic substances (serotonin, histamine and bradykinin) and stimulating the nociceptive reaction, or through vasodilatation, with different mechanisms and pathogenesis. The damage to the peripheral nerves and the inhibitory influences known in patients with diabetes or in post herpetic neuralgia, influence the synaptic transmission at the level of cells in the posterior horns, which could explain the persistence of pain and therefore the modification of one or more defining parameters (duration, intensity, character) or likewise, psycho-emotional stress, which releasing a series of algogenic substances can induce spasm of the skeletal muscles, respectively local vasoconstriction, ultimately causing visceral and somatic dysfunction at the same time, of which neuropsychiatric damage remains an extremely topical problem.

Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder in which people interpret reality abnormally. Schizophrenia may result in some combination of hallucinations, delusions, and extremely disordered thinking and behavior that impairs daily functioning and can be disabling. People with schizophrenia require lifelong treatment. An overlooked symptom of schizophrenia it’s cognitive impairment and the effect on the individual autonomy, this type of neurodegenerative disease could be also observed and studied in their animal counterparts such as monkeys, mice and a rising model is zebrafish for neurodegenerative diseases. As a consequence, we examined the databases for papers in which the authors discussed the modalities of inducing schizophrenia and the tests that could apply on the animal models. We discovered a total of 5 relevant articles, which were mentioned throughout this article. We concluded that zebrafish served both as a viable animal for studying schizophrenia and the test memories could be used for examining this parameter.

In this paper, we will capture the half-full glass, and relate constructively to the alcohol unit, discovering its culinary properties. But, on the other hand, abnormal patterns of alcohol consumption have been described since antiquity. Much later, with the colonial era, the industrial revolution and international trade, alcohol addiction became a global public health problem. During the 18th century, the working classes in Europe were threatened by alcoholism, while in China measures were already being taken to stop consumption. Thus, we underline the medical and theological approaches regarding the consumption of alcohol, especially wine and the necessity to have a more holistic and realistic view of this issue, which can became a problem for the health system.

The present study develops a critical analysis, backed up by a problematological rhetoric-based adjustement, of the most utilized principles applied in doctor-patient communication in the field of psychiatry. Special stress will be laid on the most recent doctor-patient communication patterns or on those adapted to the paradigm centered on patient/ person, for evidencing the most suitable practical approaches recommended in the communication with subjects affected with psychic disorders.

Oncological pathologies take a toll on millions of lives throughout the world, with a burden set to spiral in the future. The humanity’s increasing lifespan has pushed physicists to come up with specific and improved methods of treatment, and even more so, aggressive, in order to fight back these cell degenerations. Chemotherapy remains still one of the most effective ways to treat cancer, but the price for health might be even higher than expected. The cognitive repercussions of cancer and its treatment have been under the spotlight for the past 20 years, where scientists focused on getting a deeper understanding of post-chemotherapy effects on the human brain. In this paper we dive into the psychological and psychiatric pathology linked to this treatment method, by examining a clinical case that envisions a resilient woman who overcame cancer, but still encountered some setbacks.
