The Danube Delta has been declared since 1990 as a biosphere reserve. It is administered by a Governor and a Board of trustees acting pursuant to a specific legislative system which has improved from time to time. After 1990, in this reservation there was renounced to industrial activities for exploitation of natural resources. Pressure on biodiversity is manifested by all anthropogenic activities, however. Compliance with legislation and the introduction of new measures, established in the Danube Delta Development Strategy until the year 2020 will be materialized in improved social and economic life, as well as in preserving the landscape and conservation of biodiversity.

The paper aims to outline some of the pollution control tools and the advantages and limits of using them as strategic options within the management of the organizations. We provide a short literature review on the pollution control tools evolution and we emphasize the fact that there were three important stages that marked this evolution. Also, we propose a short classification of the pollution control tools identifying the most important criteria of sorting them. Afterwards, we provide an non-exhaustive analysis of both the advantages and limits of these elements, which is fundamental in the process of capitalization of the pollution control tools within the management of the organizations, through amplifying their strategic dimension. Therefore, the knowledge of the strengths and of the weaknesses of each pollution control tool represents a mandatory decisional input for the top management of the organizations, in their strategy foundation within the environmental protection.

One of main concern of policy makers is pollution and hence the improvement of the environmental quality. The implementation of environment policies aims at improving life and product quality in order to replace those obtained by high polluting processes by less polluting ones. Countries having more strict environmental regulations are likely to suffer from a significant increase of their production costs. As a consequence these countries become less competitive on the international market and may lose their market share. In this context, an increasing attention was granted to the impact of environment policies on foreign trade. Our purpose in this paper is to investigate whether Corporate social responsibility introduced into Eastern European countries have led or not to a decline of exports towards the European Union (EU), and if so how much? This question is important since it is related to the preoccupation of EU new members to increase their exports and the quality of their products. Our econometric methodology based on recent developments of panel data techniques allow us to control for unobservable heterogeneity and hence to get robust empirical robust. Our results highlight a moderated impact of environmental regulations on foreign trade.

Relationships between society and environment became an important subject for research in all domains of science. The emergency of problem solving and the incomplete knowledge of numerous elements, processes and interactions have created a number of problematic situations in managerial terms. Therefore, in the field of management researches pursued to cherish the accumulated experience and to formulate or reformulate a number of theories according to the requirements of environmental protection. Solving environmental problems at managerial level faced many difficulties due to insufficient information, unclear responsibilities, reduced predictability, large social implications, and increased social and political pressure. The system approach could bring in a useful perspective for decision making by supplying information on the possible evolution and characteristics of the ecosystems and socio-ecological systems that occur under the influence of economic, social and political factors at different spatial and temporal scales.

Public procurement can influence trends in production and consumption, a considerable demand for environmental goods by public authorities to create or expand markets for products and services environmentally friendly. In this way, companies will be encouraged to develop environmental technology designed to prevent or reduce the effects on environment at any stage of the life cycle of products or activities. Green Public Procurement will influence the whole supply chain, the use of raw materials and production methods to the types of packaging used and that certain conditions of reception of waste.

This paper’s purpose is to provide a review of the book ”The New Rules of Green Marketing. Strategies, Tools and Inspiration for Sustainable Branding” (2011) written by Jacquelyn A. Ottman. In this sense, the book is analyzed from a personal point of view, but exposed as objective as possible. In recent years, people’s attitude changed from skepticism to positivism in what concerns green products and the trend is to include them into their lives as usual commodities. This book essentializes the new guidelines of green marketing. The most significant benefit of reading this book is that it embodies theoretical aspects with practical ones, such as concrete examples of companies involved in the green market. The book addresses multinationals, enterprises, agencies, trade associations, NGOs, government agencies involved in the green marketing environment, professors, researchers, students or any individual having an affinity for green marketing in general.

The existence of the safe water supply and sewerage systems, especially in the rural areas of Romania, are mandatory for the insurance of the public health. In this context, a series of Romanian regional water and sewerage services suppliers developed Total Quality Management Systems, starting with the implementation of multiple ISO standards and in response to the need for answering to high requirements, both for constant development / modernization of the infrastructure and expansions to new consumers, as for the permanent improvement of the water supply, sewerage and wastewater treatment’s quality. The Total Quality Management Systems inter-relate a series of quality components, all of them functioning in a unitary–integrated way, using specific rules and procedures for assuring the increase of the delivered services’ quality and performance. The results begin to be seen on all areas of the concerned water suppliers’ activity: from the operational field to the commercial, staff’s performance, environmental and customer care ones. one of the main fundaments of the monetary creation – aspect which is indissolubly related to the idea of evolution, more precisely, to the idea of economic development.

A project is sustainable when it provides continuity of economic activity and society without destroying the environment we all depend on. The continuity of the economic activity is based on a viable project, righteous and acceptable for the three pillars of sustainability: society, economic activity and the environment. Sustainable development is not a utopia. Sustainable development means finding the adequate means in creating usefulness, for which the end-user is paying, finding alternative resources, solutions for a more efficient use of our resources, which are theoretically limited to our planet’s potential, while the needs were, are and will be unlimited. The sustainability of the economic activity or continuous development will take into consideration potential necessary resources for future generations. A sustainable consumption does not necessarily mean consuming less. It means consuming differently or smarter, reducing the consumption of goods and services or discovering substantial possible changes in the way consumers behave, as well as changes in corporate activity. Thus the Marketing responsibility is to get inside the customer’s point of view’, the assertive feedback and vice versa to bring on market the whole business result.

In recent years many extreme natural phenomena have affected not only agriculture, but the population of the country as well. The continuous deterioration of the environmental conditions has produced irreversible effects on people’s lives and activities. Protection curtains are a solution for such phenomena. In this paper, the authors focus on the main phenomena challenging the environment and highlights a few solutions that could diminish the negative effects of such phenomena on the quality of life and the environment. Research shows that Romania’s population, in general, and Romania’s rural population, in particular, as well as the national economy, has been challenged these two decades by extreme meteorological phenomena of particular amplitude: heat and severe drought, abundant rainfall, land glides and catastrophic floods, and abundant stormy snow falls.

The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review of green marketing, eco-friendly products and green consumers. Nowadays, awareness on different environmental problems increased significantly and it is of global concern to reduce negative impact on the environment. In relation to this, there has been a change in consumption patterns. As a result, a new segment of consumers was introduced, the so called green consumers. Green marketing tries to adapt by putting in the center of attention the needs of such a consumer. An increase of organic products exists in both parts, in demand and offer. To maintain the welfare of present and future generations, a sustainable development is essentially.

Climate changes’ effects are already present in our day to day life. The EU and national public authorities established strategies and public policies in order to enhance a more desirable behavior of the companies and citizens with regard to recycling and use of green energy. The companies try to make production choices that are more eco-friendly and to sustain campaigns helping cities to become “greener”. The environmentalist citizens occupy a growing share in the general population and are more vocal for convincing the others. But even with the “on the wave” eco-friendly attitude, is it done enough? The article will present some conclusions for Romania. The perspective taken is interdisciplinary and tries to draw a short review of the state of the art achievements in greening Romania’s economy, at macroeconomic level, while proposing new marketing approaches for enhancing further sustainable development, through promoting change in the companies and consumers attitudes and behaviors.

The world energy needs are on the rise, and they come from developing economies, especially the emerging ones such as China or India with high demographic and economic growth rates. These countries future demand for energy will shape the world’s energetic system. They will require considerable quantities of energy to fuel their demanding economies. The last decade has shown that the world’s energetic needs are being reoriented from West to East. Coal represents an available, secure and competitive energetic resource which can help the growing need for energy. However it is not that flexible as gas or renewables and it has also a greater impact upon environment due to its greenhouse gas emissions in the context of climate change. For these reasons coal is being less used for the energetic needs of the developed economies. Will the current attributes of coal be sufficient to maintain coal’s place in the world energetic mix?

Building a sustainable city model comprising an integrated waste management system has become an indispensable choice, also in the light of increasingly stringent regulatory constraints. The core point of the paper is the implementation of a zero waste strategy in a small municipality in Sicily. Given that only the unceasing participation of citizens may ensure the persistence over time of such a policy, accountability process works letting citizens approach directly the end-results of their ongoing good practices. By building up a SD model framed by a DPM chart, it is possible to figure out how disclosure of public saving resulting from the decreasing amount of waste piled up in the landfill, has boosted along the period 2011-2015, a virtuous cycle intended to cope with the citizens claims about environmental care and lower tax burden level.

The destruction of the environment through building is a most recent phenomenon. Its rapid expansion is setting new tasks for environmental protection. The road to valuable architectural achievements is dwindling due to numerous disturbances. Society, for the most part, is not attaining its goals because of incoherent behaviour. A comparison presents itself in which the disturbed functioning of society resembles the behaviour of mentally disturbed individuals, described in individual psychology and psychiatry. These disturbances also appear in the legal system which should regulate the path towards architecture. They can be observed on the level of laws and rules as well as on the level of application and implementation of regulations.

The debate on sustainable development has reached the point when it has almost been forgotten how intertwined its environmental, social, technological and economic aspects are. The article therefore first analyses the disharmony of natural ecosystems and human activities, and then the most well known proposals for their synchronisation. Internal inconsistency of the sustainable development model has been shown and the debate following it for fifteen years described. Specially analysed is the development of the disciplines environmental and resource economics. The hypocrisy of some proponents of theoretical and practical solutions as well as the enterprising spirit and uncompromising quality of others has been detected. In continuation the author discusses insularisation as a way of protecting Nature and a model of promoting sustainable development.

The topic of this paper is the relationship between sustainable development and business. In other words, it is of interest whether it is possible to reconcile economy and ecology (environmental protection), i.e. if society can develop without endangering natural resources as well as people's health. After introductory remarks and a short definition of the concept of sustainable development the paper comprises two main parts. The first consists of a historical review of the relationship between business and environmental protection. The second representing the stronghold of the paper analyses three types of relations between business and sustainable development today. The purpose of that part is to clarify differences in the behaviour of business towards sustainable development, that is, towards environmental protection and people's health.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, response to hazards (of natural or anthropological origin) and accidents (natural, technical/technological and other) is provided by forces and subjects in the protection and rescue system. Outcomes of accidents in Bosnia and Herzegovina show that there are numerous problems in the organization and operation of public administration bodies and operative services in charge of prevention, response and recovery. Root causes for this state of affairs should not be sought solely in human resources and lack of material resources, but also in the administration process and its operationalization through management of the system for rescue and protection of people and property in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
